Video Game Music | OT | Share The Goods
This thread is for sharing and discussing video game music in all it's forms from tunes directly from games, symphonic renditions performed at live events, youtube covers of video game music, and more. Share what you love and listen to what other's love in return.
I'm going to get things started with an obscure goodie from a classic series with iconic music. This is the Palace of Winds theme from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Listen past the first 30 seconds to really get into the music:
Let no video game music thread pass without some major representation of Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame:
I will slowly add more to the OP so it can become a decent overview of video game music thus far.

I think nearly half of what I listen to is music from video games.
Here's an essential piece: The Battle for Everyone's Souls from Persona 3

Have a listen to a somewhat less popular track from Koji Kondo the legendary Nintendo composer and creator of some of the most beloved and recognizable video game music of all time.

I think you will be very disappointing, when you learn where it was from. This was the battle themes.
Two 8-Bit classic.
Cool shares so far. Let no video game music thread pass without some major representation of Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame:
Being able to embed the music directly definitely makes these threads more fun. Im a huge vgm guy but oddly enough this year i havent been paying too much attention to the good new stuff that's always out there. I blame trump.
I'd say one of my favorite non-retro pieces of game music...
Ludwig, The Holy Blade from Bloodborne: The Old Hunters. Whew... it makes dying to him not so bad!

Forgot how I stumbled upon this, but this is one of my favorite final boss themes to a game I've never played.
Because no VGMusic thread is complete without him. FUCKING DAVID WISE.
Also, a SiIvaGunner remix that I think it's legit great and I think I like it a bit more than the actual Tropical Freeze version:

Happy to see a thread for this. Music in games is almost as important to me as the way they play.
Here to rep NieR: Automata. The best damn game of the generation. Music was a huge factor in why I love this game so much; it's simply sublime from beginning to end. The way songs dynamically change based on the context of the scene, where you are in the environment, etc. makes for some really memorable moments.
God. I love this game so much.

Wonderful 101 has a fantastic soundtrack overall, but nothing on it in my opinion comes close to this
By BDS Go To PostListening to some Mass Effect music right now. That series has a god-tier soundtrack.Suicide Mission from Mass Effect 2 never fails to get me hyped.
By BDS Go To PostListening to some Mass Effect music right now. That series has a god-tier soundtrack.I especially love the soundtrack for ME1. The composer really leaned into the scifi inspiration that I felt the later soundtracks moved away from a bit for more of a blockbuster sound.
I will forever sing praises to anyone who asks me about Gotta Protectors, gameplay, graphics, Brian Gray of 8-4 and his translation, but one thing that will always stick with me is the music. Just sublime masterpiece. Apologies in advance, there doesn’t seem to be an upload of the games soundtrack on YouTube so I didn’t have many songs to choose from.

still one of my favorites when it comes to this Fire emblem.

Much love and respect for NieR, ordered the upcoming vinyl set, already have the first two on CD plus the arrange albums.
I’ll add this one:
Final Fantasy VIII has a killer soundtrack with fantastic battle and boss themes.
Recently Man With The Machine Gun got a remix for Record Keeper and it's quite good.

Love me some “Man With the Machine Gun”, will listen to this remix, thanks for the post!
In these dark times, I want to share the light of music with all of you, i.e. listen to Vigil from the 1st Mass Effect!

I always default to two soundtracks.
Medal of Honor Frontline and The Last of us. The two songs here are just tastes of imo god-tier soundtracks

I long for the day that we get a horror game with music like Akira Yamaoka's. Silent Hill music is really memorable
I don't know if this counts but First Aid Kit, featured at the end of Tales from the Borderlands, is really good. The song fits well for the end of that game and their other stuff deserves a listen to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKL4X0PZz7M
I went to see the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra tour in London and it really was an incredible experience with Shimomura being my favourite composer. The day ended up being a complete mess but that moment when the music itself was on, everything else disappeared and it was a wonderful moment. Still haven't brought myself to listen to the CD yet though heh.
How does one stop listening to Yoko Shimomura? Because I have been obsessed with all of her music for the past month and a half.

To the surprise of no one, Falcom can add one more game to its list of amazing soundtracks with Ys VIII. Lots of great songs, but I'll show self restraint and only give you two.

Well I love Nobuo Uematsu's FF compositions, I think he is pretty meh at instrumentation/arranging, so some of my favorite versions of FF songs come from arranged albums. This album here is wonderful and made me have an appreciation for FFIV music I never had, putting it up there with FFX, FFIX, and FFVIII for me. Here's one of my favorites from it:
