I'm gonna miss GOTY thread. Those long-ass detailed posts people made about their favorite games. Those LTTP threads. There were a lot of really informative people that I'm gonna miss. How am I gonna find my new niche indie games now?

from us, the guys who built this place, its not that serious where you guys gotta say how people should feel or act regarding that kinda thing. i get that you and some others are feeling some type of way but i want to be clear:
as long as they're not coordinating crowdfunding, donations, etc on this site without a heads up to the staff here (because we're appropriately wary for scams right now, its just too convenient and opportunistic to ignore) its okay lol. even then, we're not against it, we just want to be in the loop and make sure nothing shady is going down.
we appreciate the concern and stuff but its not a line we're trying to take. we've seen firsthand what splintered communities go through and deal with and its a headache. especially when its over something as petty as this. if you guys want to help us out, help these guys out. there's more to the site than just this thread (though we understand venting and getting a grasp on the entire ordeal is necessary). help set up threads, add pics to a funny pics thread, if you see someone overlooked by the overworked staff remind them to shoot a pm to a mod or hit the contact tab below, etc
you know how we operate and how chill we like to keep things. appreciate the concern and all, but we'll be alright lol

I didn't have much of a problem with GAFs moderation, I liked that it was a pretty strict community, but when it came to post deleting and premature locking of topics... it never rubbed me the right way. Not because of some, I dunno, conspiracy -- it just felt like a breach of authority.

I guess I'm a bit lucky 'cus the only ban I caught was for only 2 weeks, though, it was kinda BS but it was whatever since it was a short one.First time I got banned cause of a thread I made, it seems a bit racist on my part. But I got dogpilled on pretty hard because of my concern of the flash mobs that were going around punching robbing random people/store. I can't remember what my final ban was over tbh. You should take it with a grain of salt. The gap between how moderation was actually run and the febrile conspiracy theories that are concocted about the moderation in general or particular moderators is large. There were problems, but I've rarely seen someone who wasn't a moderator correctly identify what they were. And it's not because people are dumb; it's because those problems weren't, for the most part, visible to the average user.

This is exactly how I feel... I was a member but never was anything more than anonymous, just a face in the crowd. But I devoured all of the well written and passionate opinions on games like it was my job. I used to look up lttp threads from over the years whenever I just wanted to get nostalgic about a game I loved. Can the site at least be archived? So many great threads just gone overnight.
It's nice to see some familiar faces (even though I was mostly lurking than posting). It's slowly starting to feel like home. Thanks for the welcoming environment Slaent!

Long time lurker on GAF, the forum setup felt a bit weird at first here but after reading a few pages of this thread I could get used to it and add it to my daily rotation of sites to visit, since reading different opinions on games is always fun!

Actually is this site run with ads? I've had ad block on forever, but unlike with GAF, I'd like to support this place so I'll whitelist it if there are ads. I trust you guys to monitor that stuff.
