It's like when two people in a relationship break up and try to "move on" right away; someone's bound to try and find someone as close to the previous as possible.
I'm seeing familiar NeoGAF names here. I've never heard of this forum until furiously searching DuckDuckGo for information on the happenings.
I'm probably in the minority here, but my biggest complain with NeoGAF was that, due to its size, the threads moved so fast (not that this one isn't :P); I found it really hard to post as often as I wanted, simply because the conversation had moved forward and my comments would've been old or already covered. As part of the NeoGAF community I always felts nameless/faceless in the crowd.
Having said all of the above, NeoGAF's quick implosion is a shock. Though certainly justified. I am glad people are taking a stand against irreprehensible acts.

Honestly there isnt much difference already between this place and GAF beside maybe not having to be worried about a ban for wrong phrasing or something. Plus this place has more modern features, although the new GAF might impress. Anyway im perma'd there as it is so ill probably just lurk poli-gaf for my tweets and apocalypse news and post here. Doubt they are gonna have a great registration system thats open, even more now that they got a target on them from the people loving the downfall. Wouldnt be surprised if only existing non-banned gaf members got in there and that was that.

This place does plenty that GAF didn't, like allowing embeds of twitter/youtube/instagram etc.
Once you've been on this site for a while - and realize that it actually receives continual updates with a back & forth dialogue on feature requests - it becomes pretty clear how neglected GAF was.

I think you guys should keep your expectations in check before co opting this place as “the new Gaf”. This site should be it’s own not under the shadow of Gaf and focus on the community itself.

Besides him actively gunning for excuses to ban someone that rubbed him the wrong way, he torpedos threads he deems have deviated from the topic material even if they absolutely are related. I've had 3 temp bans in 13 years at neogaf and he's the reason for two of them. I'd bail out of threads he was a part of for this reason alone, he takes no criticism and he's a mental mess. He's basically an older version of EL in mannerisms.
