Many of you are talking about a new site, what about the one your at? This place seems great, why don't you try it out before dropping it and going to this new neogaf that may not be any better than the first one.

A videogame forum definitely has young kids there and a fucking former mod had access to private DMs, conversations, etc. And Fvilore and the rest of the mods kept this quiet from the community? Fuck all of them.

I'd rather a tried and testing web design/forum like Slaent as well, been around for years and the admins interact well here while being available and approachable. No point going to a freshly launched hurriedly band aided together new site. It's likely more up to where the main traffic volume happens to land.

Yep. Malka will have his last move and just sell Gaf to some big corporation and it will come back. I, however, don't expect it to return in its former form, political and social stuff I think will be neutered.

As somebody else said above, we should consider thinking of this site as our hub and give it a chance. You've seen the other "alternatives", it's obvious Slaent is special.

Still needs a gaming subforum tho hahaha.

Yeah, I'm quite liking it too. I wasn't really THAT fond of the previous episode (the one with Mudd) as most people were, but it's been quite good so far, IMO.

Then again, I'm not really a diehard Trekkie. I can see why some of them are less than thrilled - but I think we should give Discovery a chance to find its footing and, eventually, become more optimistic/less grimdark.

I mean this site was made from scratch by reilo and sharp. It was a small community before a certain event happened. Reilo has been transparent as to what features he is working on. I don't get it.

As for the layout, it is subjective and providing feedback is one way a site can improve. Say why it's horrible.

I'm loving Discovery, but so far it's less Star Trek than Star Trek Quantum Leap. Which was more BSG than Star Trek.

ResetEra looks like the name of some drug advertised on TV with ten million side effects including death. "Ask your doctor if ResetEra is right for you."

What's the biggest bullshit of that is EvilLore claimed to not know him and made a post at the end of some thread that morphed into talking about AmirOx, locked it and said that was the end of talking about him, like he was making it known to the community.

Another GAF migrant washing up ashore here (the tag / avatar should be a decent indicator to who I am/was).

The whole thing about what's gone down at GAF is absolutely crazy. I was only there for two, nearing three years; and while I spent the first year or so continuing to lurk, I really started settling into the community by last year. It really started to resonate with me in regards to being a general gaming / film community I was starting to latch onto. And now its all in crumbles due to EL. :/

Really going to miss the threads discussion for film / game reviews, sales, and box office performances in particular. They outside of general news topics were the bread-and-butter of threads that took my interest. Some of the joke threads and the .gifs / memes that spawned from there were a hoot to participate in as well. Really doubt there will be anything to fill in the gap GAF will leave, for all of the site's problems. Speaking of which...

I spent most of the day lurking between here and Waypoint deciding where to go, and this was the dealbreaker for me. Waypoint looks like a solid site, but the prohibition on review / sales threads is a big bummer IMO. Shame too as I've seen a lot of GAF posters over there that I know/recognize.
