For the time being I think the relaunched site should have a modbot that only regulates spam,flame, personal attacks/insults, porn, extreme gore, etc etc type posts/images and also limit threads made to 1 per day per user but unlimited replies within the thread

If you are interested and know anyone I can get in touch with original members/team that are not scumbags or power hungry mods I am willing to put in at the least 50-100K to secure and run relaunched site/server.

I get that a lot of people feel burned by being reasonable with people with opposing views only to find d out that they are way more extreme than they presented themselves (see GamerGate apologists in the heyday) but you can't assume that about everyone with a different opinion.

We humans use all sorts of mental shortcuts to make decisions or judge situations. One of which is that as a rule of thumb, when a person expresses a particular opinion we naturally make assumptions about their deeper beliefs. A person said X and people that say X are often part of Y group, and Y group is bad. Therefore person that said X should be assumed to be part of Y group until they prove otherwise. And since they are perceived to be part of Y I don't have to take their argument at its face value anymore.

So take a situation where you have a pretty in-depth thinker that by 90% of accounts is a liberal and within the bounds of liberal thoughts, But 10% of the time he/she deviates. Maybe they have a specific issue with a touchy field like affirmative action policy for instance, and so the mob around them, after hearing that opinion, the mob updates their probability that the person speaking is probably an alt-right conservative.

It's actually not an irrational assumption, many times people that disagree with X are Y, but it is not an absolute. However, we mentally treat it like such in the moment and operate as if the person is part of Y group. A assumption qualified by simply having an opinion that may be a single opinion loosely shared by a detested out-group.

But if you are not aware of what you are doing, and how it is a flawed reasoning process, you can inevitably end up in a pretty viewpoint intolerant place. Doubly so if you have a community that is also feeding that process. Which I would agree absolutely became a major problem on GAF. Which I hope whatever place comes out of the ashes learns some of those lessons less they will ultimately follow down the same erosion of discussion quality problem.

Word on the neogaf discord is that a proper successor w/ way more transparency and less opinion enforcing is in the works to take what worked and toss what didn't. The whole discipline system is going to get reworked to be open, visible and less absolute. It's got notable community involvement from gaf members and a couple previous mods are also contributing (but they're not in charge and I'm not sure which). Probably as close to official as it's going to get. Obviously zero involvement from Malka, won't even have neo or gaf in the name.
They want to recreate a similar environment for discussion while throwing out evilore's climate of suppression. Plus adding new features with newer forum technology while they're at it. Registration will still be limited for reasons geonaf made obvious this morning, however they're looking into ways to get previous members back in to claim their identities.
