I always appreciated how there were multiple members of PoliGAF who knew the exact region a congressman was from, and could source up election data for the last 100 years, including trends in population, political leanings, demographics, etc, and end up with interesting posts outlining the odds of winning a particular seat.

I'm really going to miss that thread, even with all its debilitating pessimism.

I see right leaning celebrations happening all over twitter talking about how they "won." Like, no guys, if you had really "won" then our local Molester In Chief would have gotten a government position instead of having his site burned to the ground. The same left-leaning moderation team that they hate are the ones that burned gaf, this is their victory. If they had all stayed at their posts the site would still be running under Tyler's leadership.

It's weird because they're all acting like they won something, when the reason why gaf died is because the mods took a stand against a wolf in sheep's clothing that would fit in better with them than with us at this point. It's a loss for our community, but it's a victory against people like him.

I'm not a pedophile. I wasn't then, and I'm not now. Since leaving GAF, I have gotten married, and I love my wife dearly. It's worth noting that the thread I left GAF over was heavily redacted – except for my posts, since I didn't feel obligated to rescind statements I still believed were reasonable – which makes it difficult to read, since it's not clear what happened or what prompted my responses.

If you want a short response: I believe that it's a really big bummer that people grow up with pedophilic tendencies through no fault of their own. It sucks that we can never let them express their sexual needs (and to be clear, we really can't) the way we can let everybody else do so, and it must feel horrible to keep your sexual desires bottled up inside your entire life or else face (justifiable) persecution. It's a horrible life to be born in to.

One other point I made is that this discussion is so toxic, so emotionally driven for most people, that simply suggesting a shred of sympathy for pedophiles made people suspect you of being a pedophile yourself – a point that was rather amply demonstrated by the response.

As for Wrestling GAF, I legitimately do not know where that sense came from. I had no particular issues with Wrestling GAF. It's possible that Wrestling GAF hated me, but I did not hate them.

One of the worst things about such accusations is that I have no real way to disprove it. I can say I'm not, but maybe I'm lying; I can tell you I'm now married to a full grown woman (Well, she's actually quite short, but she's also 30) , but maybe that's a cover; I could tell you I've never been arrested or charged or found with suspicious content, but perhaps that just means I haven't been caught yet.

If I could post something a little forward, I'd point out that I have of course watched pornography in my life, and that my inclinations in this regard definitely do not lean towards that sort of persuasion. The opposite, if anything.

He made some posts defending none crime committing pedophiles or whatever you want to call them, basically arguing for society being more open for them getting help and sympathizing with them having sexual urges, that they can not just... you know, live out, without hurting someone. He came off as extremely creepy doing this, which most probably would.

Then voat and whatever found some flickr account they were convinced belonged to him, although this was never 100% confirmed. The flickr account had lots of arty photos, including some kids without too much clothes on, on a beach. Nothing you wouldn't see a million times on flickr elsewhere, and certainly nothing even close to child porn, but with his previous comments it did seem ... Creepy. He still claims that it's not his flickr account however. Who knows. His constant appearance in threads about pedophilia with these kind of statements were certainly weird, but also kind of harsh to throw him under the bus calling him a confirmed pedophile.

Really crazy to see the internet and industry shit on GAF, I know it wasn't liked by everyone, but for all its cons it certainly had its pros (game journalist trying to act like they never used the site for leads LMAO). You can't just reduce the situation to people being racist/sexist. I'm a muslim and I work in Fashion, I'm not your typical "alt right white male that loves gun" and personally, I'm happy the place died because you couldn't voice your mind about games like you wanted to, because of fear of ban hammer or because the obvious and massive shilling on the board. I've seen people being banned for being critics toward certain video games a mod was known to like or simply because he disagreed with a mod regarding said games. It happened a lot.

It was particulary difficult around a popular game release, and not just with mod. Some popular members often asked for people to be banned because of game criticisim.

That's precisely why everyone on the web seems to hate Neogaf, if you were not in the feel-good mood about a game, you were likely to be banned or gangbanged by some gaf members. I remember a guy who was upset that FH3 was badly optimised on PC, members who liked the game jumped on him and without a warning he was banned for voicing his opinion at the wrong time. Same goes for criticism toward Persona 5 or BOTW.
