I'm sure it would have been a slower death if at least some of them weren't genuine in their convictions.I completely agree. I am sad as hell that GAF is gone, but if that's the price to pay, that's the price and I applaud the mods who were probably a lot more invested on it than I.

It's gonna be weird not having a routine for game releases. I got comfortable with "new news, new threads" leading up to release, then review threads and finally OTs.

I will miss NeoGAF, even after being permabanned around E3. When it came to gaming discussion it was what I checked first before any of the major sites. It was my go to for gaming news, discussion and obscure games mainstream games press wouldn't cover.
But almost everything was politically tinged after President Trump won the election. You always had to toe the line and be careful of what you posted. Sure GAF had some wackos and alt accounts who were there just to troll, but for any conservative folks like myself you were best not saying anything contrary to what the hive mind believed in of you were 1. Banned or 2. Cast aside as a bigot, Nazi, alt-right supporter etc. There was just black and white with many folks and it was overbearing. Even if you questioned something the pitchforks would be out.
Some in the moderation team were hypocrites. They let a thread go 100+ pages character assassinating Colin Moriarty after his joke tweet that many were butt hurt over. I will miss certain communities on GAF, but I welcome the return of many who either were banned or worst, simply left because of the hypocrisy of many on the mod team.
As for Malka, he certainly had this coming and the fact that he himself admitted back in 2012 of ass grabbing didn't do him any favors. The fact that the mod team bailed on him is telling on 2 very different fronts. This is all assumption here, but either many were in on it and bailed in fear of being exposed or they truly all left in solidarity to protest Malka (which I seriously doubt).

The site has been pretty small so it will take a while get the features that gaf had but with enough users and people willing to help build it up it could be a great place.

I honestly don't know if there will be a statement. The downfall of GAF is statement enough, tbh. Rather than going crazy with deleting posts and shit, he could have pinned a thread for the discussion, while he prepared his statement. Agreed. There was a mod, more_badass I think his name was, he was always on point and had a thread about upcoming indie/obscure games and be brought them to the fore. Good writer as well, I'll miss his threads.

Well, to be fair, being a conservative by definition means you want to conserve what America was, which was wildly racist or sexist, so you kinda earn being lumped in with deplorable people when you self label as a conservative.
Secondly, I think a vast majority of the mods didn’t like Evilore, but genuinely loved the site and the community and saw the writing on the wall, particularly with the current climate towards sexual harassment.
