I mostly lurked and occasionally posted in gaming or movie threads but it was really my go to website for years. Hopefully something is born from the ashes or I can at least find some discord’s.

I believe he or someone else made a post about it as well.Evilore had made a statement about a former moderator being removed for banning lots of people shortly/immediately after bish left, but it's entirely possible that he was talking about someone else, so yeah I might be wrong. Does anyone else remember the dragona or opiate incidents either, there has been a dumpster fire of issues. Besada was always super quick to destroy topics too and would derail threads unprovoked as well.
I take no pleasure in the destruction of Gaf, I am taken aback by the swift and almost instantaneous nature of it all, I legit missed it over a two-hour nap.
It is a crying shame, the site is the best aggregator of news and suppository of gaming info I have ever seen, and if this is truly its end, then:
My main problem with the site was the nature of the moderation, the lack of accountability and transparency of its mods, you don't have to break any TOS, but if the mod doesn't like what you said..... you were banned with no real explanation other than a glib message on the banned page no longer than a tweet. You are given no warning like on any other forum, you can't contest it or make your case or explain.
Now the fall has awakened and galvanised those with resentments about their rightful or wrongful expulsion, or those with the most despicable political leanings looking for an effigy. Without the mods, with whom the true powers laid, it's all falling to pieces, I am reminded of one of the closing scenes from the 'The Book of Eli' where Gary Oldman's character's had lost his private army and his lair is besieged by locals whom he had once controlled through fear. The barbarians are truly at the gates.

I was once banned because I had the audacity to say that Xbox had apologized when Phil Spencer became Head of Xbox in a thread about a video Jim Stirling made about demanding Microsoft apologize for shitty Xbox One launch.

Lot of shit coming out today
I don't mind much people celebrating gaf's end but I think their opinion is clouded from being banned or believing gaf was a "sjw haven" or something. Gaf was a great forum because of how much ground it covered in terms of news, hobbies, etc and how active the community was. It was almost a general life style forum more than a video game forum but even the activity and wide coverage of the video game specific side is unmatched anywhere else I can find on any other forum.
