Look, I get why people are gonna go there. Community, size of community, gaming, news aggregator; if anything is going to become new GAF is that, because SLAENT doesn't want to be GAF (thankfully).
I love the community feel of this place. It feels like somewhere I chat to my mates, duck out of my home thread and get involved elsewhere without just being one name going 'lol' or 'what the fuck' in a thread of thousands. Feels great.
It may never be the hotbed of activity GAF was, but it'll be sick at whatever it does.

God I miss OT. Going into resetera OT and seeing the flood of topics makes me feel warm again. Shit I wont actively seek out unless someone posted it in gaf OT.

Yea OT is the part of GAF I visited the most. That site is gonna take some time to build up. It does look rough right now but I'm sure it'll get better later. Meanwhile, I'm liking this site. =)

By Harmen Go To PostI think ResetEra looks really ugly and has one of those generic standardized/automated forum looks. Also an ugly logo that reminds me of the horrid American SNES. I hope it will develop further in that aspect. In the end, however, it will be all about the content by the community and a lot of great contributors migrated to it. It will be interesting to see where both neogaf and ResetEra will be in a couple of months.
I like Slaent though, so I hope others will stick around as well.
I've dabbled with xenforo. I think the site is using the new version Xen 2.0.
The problem is the vanella version looks very ugly and barebones. So a third party theme is almost required.
Also since you can't create a "mobile version" as xenforo uses responsive design. What this means is any change to customize the computer viewing for example will also inadvertently effect or change tablet/mobile versions. This really limits you on changes.
It's becomes extremely tricky and headache inducing if you want to attempt any sort of heavy customization.
As it stands, I think ResetEra looks fairly decent for being created in a couple days. The browsing and reading experience needs improvement, things seem a bit to small.

On gaf i asked a mod to switch to a gmail after using a school email, and it was done. Maybe it will be the same here.
