That is the only experience I've had w/the Persona series. Fond of the art direction for the other titles, but I don't think the dating sim elements are for me.
I actually despise the dating sim elements but thoroughly enjoy all the persona games. I've played 3 - 5. You can completely ignore the dating junk and just go about leveling up and killing demons. Even if a certain dating character gives you a stat bonus you want you can skip through the scenes very quickly. Some people make persona seem like a dating sim but it's really not.
