Forums need to EARN that level of trust between the gamer and development community. If ResetEra can build that trust back up to the levels GAF once had, bully for them. But it won't happen overnight... nor should it be expected. Twitter as a whole is a perfectly viable mechanism for community outreach. And plenty of devs have their own internal forums that they curate.

It is sad. I said earlier on today that there was a car crash curiosity to it. Now it's just.. depressing. The quality of the forum, even in threads which are relatively untouched by account suicides or subtle digs, is utterly ghastly.

I don't know how sustainable this all is. The novelty of having to micro-manage that community to the extent they're having to right now is going to wear thin REALLY quickly.

Heard reports on the previous page that mass accounts are being approved at the site now. So does that mean the restriction to college/business emails has been lifted and there is no trial period/evaluation into being a member?

That was a defining element about GAF, about how it was very difficult to get an account approved there despite its vast community. There's no way EL would get the userbase traffic GAF used to receive after everything he's done so far if he kept the same account vetting process. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he decided to lift the floodgates and just let in anybody in to get close to the amount of GAF traffic back before the meltdowns, even if it accelerates GAF's ironic transformation into the very thing the old community prided itself for not being.

It's visually very impressive. MGS2 with higher res textures. But it introduces game mechanics from MGS2 that completely break the flow of the game. First person shooting makes every space too easy. It breaks the beginning Ocelot fight completely.

It's dated visually but the OG MGS is the way to go. Play Twin Snakes after so you can marvel in some of the dumb decisions. Still loved Twin Snakes myself.

you forgot the worst part of it all: they changed the classic and iconic OST for shitty dance music, and all the rerecorded VAs sound like they dont give a fuck except for Hayter

Yup, anyone worth a damn split. There's no way Evilore is sitting there not seeing that the only people defending him are the same people he had to tell to fuck off when they bitched about the pride logo going up.

It's been entertaining seeing the tower crumble, if nothing else. Evilgrope was always an egotistical brat that banned people for the same aggression he would post constantly. Damn good at deleting the evidence of his harrassment for years though. I didnt know who the fuck Amirox was, him slapping women's asses at clubs, or what the fuck was going on during last week until a few days ago. And now the prick has done what he's been doing for years: Not taking accountability for his shitty actions, and making everyone else the bad guy.

By betraying the community that kept the site alive, he's lost GAF entirely. Now the bigots that mods tried to keep away for years will have a home until theyre banned, and then the site will be a ghost town. It's either that, or he embraces these asshats, in which case the site is lost anyway.

It's clear the GAF I know will not be returning. It's such a damn shame too, because even before joining about two years ago, I loved the community, layout and the moderation for the most part. I couldnt go a day without at least reading the news, even if I didnt often make posts. If this community is where everyone's staying, then thats where Im at. If those rumors about some former members making a new site is true, I'll gladly join there as well. Ill keep checking the posts and threads for any new information, and would greatly appreciate any updates.

At this point Im only checking out GAF with adblock on occasion to see the epic ban posts from those leaving. I signed out days ago but am not sure if I should get myself banned yet in case my membership there is needed for joining RESET.
