As for the situation; I do not 100% go to bat for homeboy for his weird and inappropriate actions, but I also do not think he raped/assaulted her. My reasoning is, if she goes on to say they had a consensual sexual relationship after the fact and clarifies in that waypoint article they both moved past it like adults that seems like it deads the issue.
I was not a big fan of everyone immediately screaming hellfire and asking for blood over the man clearly, and poorly misreading the situation. Being a total cornball loser doesn't really scream sexual assault to me. He shot his shot, and he fell back when she called him on it. If anything, everyone should have roasted him for the revenge porn and the ass grab. Should have kept it 100% from jump.

I feel bad for the people blissfully ignorant of the scope of the problem, posting in dying community threads hoping to pick right back up where they stopped. They're not being hostile (they aren't celebrating GAF's new rules), they just know no other forum, there friends are on GAF (or were) and they want to just go back to whatever was going on before Saturday. But it never will. But they keep trying to make it.
The latter really was just sad, because basically, you only saw "It was nice talking to you, see you somewhere else" or the tending to a garden in a warzone-posts you described. Both sad in their own way. I've been on GAF for "only" five years, but it was still my go-to site for, well, a lot of things.
I won't commit account suicide for this reason. Sure, I'm angry at Evilore for being such a shitty person that he isn't even able to just apologise. But overall, I'm more sad that it's gone now.
Well, on a more positive note, SL&ENT so far seems like a very nice community. I'll definitely check out ResetERA once it goes live (and they let me in), but that doesn't mean this site is a transit zone for me. As the community threads were the best thing about GAF, I don't really need a big forum except for news. So this seems pretty fine.

And, at the end of the day, once the community is finished relocating and the dust has settled, Joe specifically isn't a hard guy to contact. If Reset (or here! This place is slick too!) takes off as the GAF replacement, I'm sure we can get him to join.I think that thread stuck out to me, because on any "normal" GAF day, I would have been a very active poster in that thread. As would a ton of people who are no longer on the site.
GAF's actual gaming threads now remind me a bit of the old Wii U forums, if any of you were familiar with that site. Lots of threads kept going by the same handful of people. Eventually, the key people who keep threads going get busy for a week or two, and the whole board slows down because no one's there to pick up the slack. Some members stop checking the site regularly, and when key members return, they return to a smaller community. Repeat ad nauseam until you can count the active members on one hand. It'll take a long time, but I believe the site's now on it's way to a slow, quiet death.
Or, I'm wrong and it's above that magical number of users it needs to be self-sustaining. Who knows.
And even for a second, I went "oh wow, this is neat, let me reply" and then I remembered it wasn't GAF anymore, it was just some garbage dump and this was just a glimpse at a normal Tuesday that can never be again on GAF.
The thing that's going to really harm discussion on GAF is the loss of community outreach from companies and indie devs. No company that wants their reputation is going to go 10 feet near GAF.

By SunhiLegend Go To PostYou know, I still lurked here over the last couple years but since I mostly stopped making gifs while watching NBA or Football games I stopped posting here aswell, but I would still keep up with the threads from time to time whenever there was a big game I was watching. I do feel a little guilty as it's taken this whole situation for me to leave GAF completely and start posting here again, I should never have stopped sorry. But I'll definitely be more active, for sports it'll mainly be playoff time for both the NBA and NFL as I can't watch them live that much anymore due to time difference. There was a time years ago where I would spend 11am to 6am watching and posting every Sunday, and during the week from the evening till like 4am, I'm not that old but I need my sleep lol, I can't do the 3 hour naps before work anymore, it's why I stopped a couple years ago. For other stuff I'll just post as normal. I don't know what's going on with ResetEra, but I just opened Discord and I'm in the server, had no idea, I'll probably post there as well once registered but that's probably gonna take a while, there's a few people from the F1 community on the server and that's pretty much the only community thread I was posting in regularly over the last year.
