This is the first thing I've posted since this all went down. Followed this thread for the last couple days, but didn't post here because I wanted to see what happened. The quality of discussion here (and the nice layout), made me warm up to the idea of a post-GAF life.
Now that GAFinNameOnly is up, I find it shocking and I have nothing to say there. The community is irreparably broken, and EL's desperation to get money flowing again no matter who the users are is shockingly gross. At the end of the day he'd neuter all social/political thought to protect his ass from criticism, and throw the gates open to GG or whoever as long as it maintains his cashflow. I guess if I had a cash-cow fall into my lap as a teenager and I hadn't cultivated any employable skills until my 30s, I'd make desperate creep moves too. I mean not that anyone would ever accuse EL of making desperate creep moves :/
I'm not the type to burn bridges so I'm not going to suicide my account there... maybe I'll need it to communicate with someone. Maybe the quality of discussion will rebound and it will become a swell place again (ha!).... but I'm going to make the subtle move away from there to the alternatives. Hopefully someone can help me get into ResetEra if that turns out well. Otherwise there are other great places to chat online... this forum proves it.
