Even if it loses a few hundred users it's still going to be the fastest moving gaming forum out there. And I don't think people who want to continue to post there, like me, are bad or somehow accepting of whatever Evilore did. I can just separate the two things. Yeah technically he's benefiting off my visit. But I also pay taxes that go to Trump and end up getting misused. And I've also worked for shitty bosses I hated that grossly underpaid me for my efforts. Life goes on and discussing stuff on GAF is something I enjoy in life that I don't care to get rid of.

You want to stay there, you stay there, I won't judge people for not boycotting something, but you have to be conscious of what you are doing.
Separating the two things is rationalizing an action you know it is shitty and it's ok if it means that much to you, I understand how important that fucking forum is and that it might be a genuine sacrifice to just let go and no one should *demand* sacrifice from other people.
But you have to keep in your consciouness that you are choosing to support EL because he gives you something you need. Those are not two separate things.

I just want to discuss Entertainment and nothing moves as fast as Neogaf when it comes to that. Of course, we'll see how it all shakes out in a couple days after all the account suicides are done. But I have a feeling the pace will be more or less the same even if some key members are gone.

I left the IGN forums in 2005. I lurked GAF from then til 09 when I got approved. All together that's like 12 years. Long time for things to burn down overnight. I didn't post much but I'll miss it. I didn't realize how much of my time I spent there til it imploded. Looking to move on. There's nothing for me there.
It was such a dirtbag move to kill all the OT communities. So many people relied on those to give/get support they needed for years probably. All of them are scattered because of one persons horrible actions. I hope some of them were able to find each other.
I suppose it came down to money and ego. He decided there would be more money and less damage to his ego allowing the hateful stuff that is being normalized more and more in the world today. Instead of doing what's right.

Hey everyone, I doubt anyone will recognize me as I mostly lurked, but I just wanted to say how depressing this whole thing is. Gaf was my first online forum that I became apart of and where I spent the majority of my online life on.
Seeing it fall to shambles and the entire community I've been apart of for years ripped apart in just a couple of days was surreal. I got all my news from Gaf, I loved reading the thoughts of certain users, it was great experience.
I regret not interacting more, I regret not fostering more friendships, all the users I liked are gone and I never had a chance to say how much a appreciated them.
I hope the new site will bring a good chunk of the OT community back, even the ones I never even gave any thought too. Regardless, there is no doubt that the next few weeks will have a lot of growing pains, hopefully something good can come about.

Yeah, a few I could see as whatever, it sucks that long lasting groups are now gone and you may not have been prepared for the day and lost contact with them. But I'm worried most about Mental Health and some of the people in the LGBTQ+, more specifically, the ones who really needed a community, and lacked the support in person due to family, religious or just general life situations. I just hope the more fragile members of both have the support and connections they need. :/

Slaent is really cool and I'm glad this whole mess helped me discover it. It just doesn't move as fast and I kinda don't like gaming and movies/tv and music all being mixed together. The woman in question ended up being completely psychotic and held a grudge against me after a bizarre love triangle situation developed a few years ago between me, her, and another girl (the other girl I ended up in a long-term relationship with shortly thereafter). This NOLA story she apparently just put up on social media is a delusion of a deeply disturbed person who had a total psychological breakdown as a result of me and the other girl getting together, because she (phew, yeah…) became obsessively infatuated with the other girl (she's bi) on sight when the three of us met up. I wanted to just stay friends with the girl making the accusation and made it super super clear ahead of time that me and the other girl were interested in each other romantically and that could play out as such when we met up. Supposedly this was not a problem for her from accusation, but in reality she uhhh wanted me to die painfully after seeing me and the other girl interact. Plus she became infatuated with the other girl simultaneously to this (she's bi), which created the aforementioned bizarre love triangle that ended up causing her to implode and have an apparently very intense and long-lasting grudge. The whole story about how that love triangle thing played out is, frankly, nuts and scary, and involves this girl bringing us to a compound of dangerous scientology spinoff cultists on that same trip, who roofied us, attempted to recruit/scam me and attempted to abduct/rape the girl I ended up dating, in what was a fucking scary situation that resulted in me and the other girl and the rest of my friend circle never speaking to this girl from the accusation again."

Got myself banned, and it feels good tbh. I won the GAF Super Mario Maker contest, repped Pokken and learned of their discord, made a killer Fatal Frame LTTP, and learned so much from OT. Shit was great. And I'm ready to move on!

I haven't had the heart to click on anything but the obvious account suicide threads. I know I'll see names I recognize at best acting like nothing has happened, or at worst exposing their reprehensible true colors, and the thought depresses me way more than I would've expected.
Everyone saying how NeoGAF "moves so fast" what do you think is going to happen now that there's been a mass exodus of members; members who are likely the ones who gave an actual shit about the community?
