I am telling you guys. Been saying it last pages, this is a small sociological disaster. Sounds silly, actually isnt. I actually studied some of this stuff, researched social media behaviors and how its altering thoughts and the feeling of belonging with digital connected devices. People were on GAF non-stop for years and now they feel like it is over, whether it is or not. I mean, i was one of them which got me so curious. It's nice to have this place to talk though. Gaf ex-pat. It is good the forum is over. It used to be an amazing place for OT and video game discussions then something changed around 2010 timeframe. And no it wasn’t gamergate but there was a level of toxicity which you could feel. There were some folks rightfully banned for hate but too many folks started to get banned over a joke or a differing opinion. People got banned for calling it incorrectly a hive mind but the reason given was don’t question the hive mind. People became too sensitive. Outrage culture cultivated on every post. People sniped at each other at everything that moved was a questioned . There were so many folks banned that the place spoke in one cohesion and died in one cohesion, full of misdirections
Tyler Malka posted his shenanigans and no one said anything then , no mods quit then and everyone stayed quiet. I only found out after my banning for a statement which didn’t hate or joke or anything, it was correcting misinformation without any bad intent. Anyway all the mods knew and they did nothing and only went off the cliff because of Weinstein . To me the mods were all like the actresses and actors who knew what Weinstein was doing and did and said nothing, didn’t quit and kept getting paid, kept getting roles and only now when all is exposed they said oh that’s bad I’m now outraged. I hope this exodus and Neogaf being basically done for serves a lesson . Don’t tolerate stuff you know happened and deal with it right there and then .

GAF discord i think keeps changing because it kept getting leaked, and there are a lot of gaf enemies right now wanting to start shit. Seriously im fucking pissed lore fucked this all up. There was a good thing there and he just fucked it, in the worst possible year you could.

Make individual posts more easily differentiated from each other (stronger borders and more prominent usernames), split ENT into two subforums (one for games exclusively) and add a "Who quoted me" function and we're GOLDEN. I know I can search my username right now to see quotes but it has no functionality to actually take me to that post and reply to it, so not so great.

A scroll through the latest tweets about neogaf on Twitter was a quick reminder of how painfully annoying most other online communities can be.

At first I was kind of reeling from the loss, but I know there's already talks about a new site being created, and this place seems pretty dope so far, so I'm feeling a lot better about the outlook of a new place filling the role GAF used to.
