While I agree that they don't have a chance, if they're just trying to compete and Malka opens up today, I think they got a good chance to establish themselves rather well. Still, there are some huge question marks. Not only those hateful cunts that will invade that place, but also setting up a forum, structuring everything and setting a clear path for both users and moderators.
It will be a huge task and it won't be a smooth ride from the start.

But I do believe however that she knew what she was doing with the #metoo post in Facebook. Maybe she's exaggerating, but that's no the point. Evillore did have consensual sex with her late reply one after the assault. That to me says that she has issues. I'm not saying Evillore is,not a piece of shit. Just that that girl isn't as innocent as she really claims to be. Also that interview by Tyler is ruthless, but it was the only way to confront the isssue. No one was gonna believe him anyway, and there is enough evidence spread by the mods who grew tired of coverings his history. This is probably sooner than he'd like, though. I imagine he's scrounged up a hasty scab mod team that will have trouble dealing with how much shit is going to be hitting the fan the moment he opens the flood gates. Gaf is going to be a total shitshow.

I understand the mindset of mods not walking away at the time, in the sense that you could see it as throwing the baby with the bathwater and effectively killing a pretty unique place, that was more inclusive than any other large video game board. That bridge was eventually crossed anyway.

To be fair, I think having a single discord of GAF was of course going to need extra moderation/control. The platform isn't really built for that level of interaction at that volume I don't think. But venture into a community, and you can more easily vet people and interact. That being said, of course things will likely be rough leading up to and after launch for awhile. But that is to be expected. We'll see in a few weeks when the dust settles what actually will be viable.

When I was active I consistently went against the grain on a fair few issues, disagreeing with mods often. Yet I only once faced a ban and that was over ill advised use of a slur. Even then the ban didn't come throughā¦
Yeah, it was pretty terrible. Around the time that the Ghostbusters reboot was coming together, a thread was started about a twitter post showing the four women in full costume. I got banned for saying that there were no Ghostbusters in the picture. (donāt recall exactly what I wrote but it was cheeky ā in no way malicious and didnāt attack gender or anything) It was the first and only thing I had written about the movie at that point and was hit with a temp ban. (presumably by the mod who posted a few pages prior) Others chimed in with similar or even more malicious posts, but since they were recognizable names they were spared.
Furthermore, Iām left leaning and have always voted democrat, but the second I jumped into a discussion around election time I got crucified because I wasnāt blindly on the Hillary wagon. One guy straight up started harassing me by using my name in posts saying slanderous shit like I support rape. I politely asked him both in the thread and via PM to edit his posts, but he refused. I went to a moderator (Besada) for help but was ignored. I then PMād another mod that was active in the thread (canāt remember who) and was ignored. I (mostly) opted out of political topics at that point even though I felt I had something to add.
Iāve observed plenty of reasonable dissenting opinions dogpiled by the usual suspects. Iāve seen plenty of legitimate discussion killed by those who are only interested in picking fights by simplifying complex issues into racism/sexism/whatever. What I didnāt notice was a whole lot of mod intervention or deserved bans given out and it ironically fostered a hostile atmosphere in many threads.
There were some really awesome people on gaf... and then there were a select few that mustāve been blackmailing the mods or something. Very tonally inconsistent and we already know via leaked PMs that a few accounts suicided with that favoritism existed. Canāt blame that on EL (at least not entirely) if the mods describe him as being āhands-offā with the site.
Edit: that isnāt to say I wouldnāt give them a second chance. New management, etc.

Even in this thread ppl keep saying "nothing will change". Ppl had alot of issues with gaf mods then I had been led to believe.

yeah it's gone at least 3 or 4 right now. the bore for people who bridled at how pc it was, here, Waypoint for the more intersectional people among GAF, and reset era. If any of the mod team on Reset Era are any of the ones involved with GAf from the past year or so then count me out though, unless they learn some lessons.

So logistically this will be a nightmare for resetera. They are going to have no access to the old user base for verification short of screenshots they need to verify in an individual basis. Further thatās assuming there arenāt alt rights hiding out on Gaf in the gaming section who once resetera launch donāt want to screw with it. Splitting that user base is gonna be just crazy
Btw is there like a forum suggestion thread? It would be really helpful if you get personal colored posts like on GAF. So when you scroll through a page, if someone quote you, you can quickly spot it.
