But again, a lot of folks have migrated over from GAF so be patient with them finding their way and adapting to a new forum. We'll moderate as best as possible considering there's been a tidal wave of new members. If you see something that reeks of any of the 'ism's', feel free to pm me or another mod.

Literally just move on, you don't have to respond you can just ignore and continue on. If you feel that strong about or if it truly is that bad a mod will take action.
The folks on here are nice enough to not only accommodate many of us GAF folks but are already working on features we've asked for. Remember, they don't have to do any of it. They don't owe us a thing, much less folks coming over and acting/posting the way folks did on GAF.

Getting banned from reddit or 4chan is a minor inconvenience at best since they’re intentionally anonymous. I have no idea how Stormfront works because I don’t need to be put on a terrorist watchlist.

The development is being run by pretty much one person at the moment. Some of the features you're asking for (subscribed threads, separate subforum for gaming, etc.) are being worked on as we speak. The GAF implosion hit everybody suddenly so all of us are trying to pick up the slack. Please be patient. If you have suggestions please make them as we've always been very open and transparent with where this forum can go. We have a lot of ideas and goals moving forward.
Not sure this is the right place but in terms of usability the only things I think gaf did better than this place was ease of use on mobile - specifically:
A button at the top of the page to jump right down to the bottom
A button on the bottom of the page to refresh the current thread
Changing the css theme may not be on your radar but just a couple of ease of use features which I think are worth nabbing! Other than that this place is a really well put together site - am absolutely impressed based on it being one persons work!

I like the OT in gaf but cannot post there. It's awful. The games section is cool when people aren't trying to make critiques and statements about society as a whole about a fat Italian plumb who uses sewer pipes as a mode of transportation, eats mushrooms, and fights "goombas".

GAF going under was a huge event. There's no if or but(t)s about it. People need to vent. This thread does a good job at that. As long as it doesn't spill over into the rest of the site, I'd say let people work through it. No one is here to ruin Slaent, I know I'm not. And those that want to bring GAFs toxic elements here will probably not last long I'd imagine.
The last few months or even the last 2 years on GAF I started to withdraw heavily from discussion, as it just became an exercise in futility. All the hyperbole, hot takes, all the antagonizing and uncompromising arguing for arguments sake... It started to seriously feed into my depression.

we ban, yeah, but its not a .... "oh he's one those of those types!" quick ban processes. we always want to make to sure first, and talk when we can.

Perhaps. If I was Evilore I'd be trying to sell the site ASAP, but who knows what he's planning on doing. Guilty or innocent, this has been handled appallingly, and I don't see how it can come back without a change of ownership. It can't really come back without mods and admins, but I doubt many (ex-)members are going to be that enthusiastic to sign up for those roles with Evilore still there given what has gone down.

As someone who never had a GAF account, I think it will be sorely missed. Yes, off-topic was kind of an echo chamber and many bans were questionable imo. But, ironically, its structure exposed me to a variety of topics that I would never see on Twitter/Reddit/YouTube (as your feed funnels the info you receive there). Plus, the level of the gaming discourse was well beyond everything else I've seen in other fora or social media.
Hope the community finds a new place, whether that's SLAENT, Waypoint, GB or somewhere else. I think it deserves it.

GAF coming back requires Grompf or someone else who can handle the tech side of things. I am not sure if Evilore knows how to run the GAF tech stack.
If it comes back up it will be a zombie site unless Evilore passes off control. If he does then it'll be a scramble to see who ends up as mods amongst notable community members and it'll probably change the site's mood a lot.

The fucker Evilore still trying to make money after his empire has crumbled. It's probably a good thing that Neogaf fell as the smugness by some posters was suffocating. I was thekerryman (more a lurker than a poster) on that and I will not post there again.
I think it's possible to recognize that aspects of NeoGAF needed to be addressed without wishing the whole place be burned down or throwing out all the good it offered. And to pin anything on some posters seems really short-sighted. For every jerk, there were countless other helpful, informative, insightful people who actively contributed a lot of great ideas. (Right now I'm really missing threads like the SNES classic hacking thread with helpful information from people like Robin64.)
EvilLore is in the process of destroying a lot more than just a forum, but communities and a history that took years to develop. In a way it highlights just how risky it is to have control/authority limited to a single, fallible, person.
