Apple Watch

⌚️countdown: http://www.secondapps.com/countdown/t1425920400z4.png
Alright, who's excited for this?
Mock me, but I am. I'm not even that guy buying everything Apple puts out, year in year out. Not anymore. My phone is approaching 3 years old, computer is 5, and I don't have an iPad.
Yet, I want an Apple Watch. Why?
- Timekeeping. Sometimes I think: "I wonder what time is it". Now, thanks to Apple, I'll be able to know! Alright, just kidding, but a watch on your wrist is a more convenient and faster way of knowing the time. I remember that from the days I used to use a watch. I was 12.
- Sports tracking and health monitoring. I love these. It's interesting to be able to quantify some aspects of your active life and see how they translate into your current state. I used to have a Jawbone. But it annoyed me that it didn't have a watch.
- Apple Pay. My phone doesn't have this, so, why not. Pretty much all supermarkets around me have NFC payments. I already use them with my cards. It's fast and great. If I'm able to leave home without a wallet sometimes the better right? Nearly moot point if you have a phone with NFC payments capability, or if shops around you don't have NFC. But it works out pretty well for me.
- Communication. We finally have the technology now not only to draw penises and send them to your friends around the world, but to make them feel them penises on their wrists. This changes everything. They don't even have to take out the phone from their pockets so it's great to get people distracted at their jobs and potentially get them fired 👍🏻
Now lets talk aesthetics. The thing comes with a normal, optimized for digital content, squared display, which it makes it maybe not as immediately easy on the eye as a round watch. It has grown on me though, and the amount of costumization and quality of bracelet options seems to be top notch.
IMO, these are lookers:
But these stainless steel bodies will certainly be expensive.
I'm looking instead for the entry-level sports model, in full black, which doesn't look too shabby tbh:
Just to do some OP-like work and put some information:
All these come available in 38 or 42mm sizes. Prices start at 300 kwanza or whatever is your local currency.
38mm: 340x272px display
42mm: 390x312px display
Need an iPhone to work, 5 or newer.

Now comes the part where people say lol apple or lol smartwatches
Yea, the stainless steel bands look best to me too. Not sure if I'd fork over the cash one unless apple has some really crazy ideas.
By MorisYea, the stainless steel bands look best to me too. Not sure if I'd fork over the cash one unless apple has some really crazy ideas.Yeah, stainless steel or any other more upmarket model is out of the question for me until I see where the product goes. Especially weary of gen 1 Apple products.
But the sports model starting at 300 isn't a stretch from an impulse buy price, being full featured and all. Worst case scenario I'd sell it down the road without taking that big of a hit anyway.
By FlutterPuffsAll I want to know is the battery life.Probably one day.
I'd be more okay with it if it had another method of charging. As it is, it's a "you have to take your watch from your wrist and stop using it" kind of deal, which sucks a bit. The charger even covers the heart rate sensors so there's not much room for 3rd party solutions.
I'm excited for the Apple Watch.
Of what it will be like in 5 years time. Don't care for this first-gen model.
White band + white accent on the watch might be most appealing, but the shape is just too bulky for now.

By giririsssThey look like cheap casio watches i wore when i was 10.
While pretty much every reputable reviewer said the look, feel, construction was by far the best of any smart watch.

The overall level of design in the Apple Watch simply blows away anything – digital or analog – in the watch space at $350. There is nothing that comes close to the fluidity, attention to detail, or simple build quality found on the Apple Watch in this price bracket.
Again, Apple paid great attention to detail with this new wrist-bound peripheral, and it shows the Swiss that it is possible to have great design at low costs. That is the most exciting thing about the Apple Watch for me – it will push the Swiss to take the sub-$1,000 mechanical watch category more seriously.

Those are about the build quality.
I said looks like.
This could be the best "e-watch" out there and it still looks dorky. I wouldn't buy any of them. Not the samsung, apple, or whomever else has one.
Those look nothing even close to a good swiss watch. Good lord. What cheap pandering.
The only one of these that is of any appeal is the microsoft one because it apparently has insane amounts of quality sensors, and the fitbit one. But... not to wear every day, but for sport.

I don't know how the Apple Watch can even be compared to a traditional mechanical watch, it's really not the same thing.
Starts in about an hour.
Hopefully the streams work better than last time. I need something to entertain me in-between classes.

I can't even see it, I can't even feel it.... that's what she said.

Fuck outta here
Still surprised by how fucking ugly the watch is considering the past products apple has designed.

We're headed towards a wireless future. I feel you but Apple had to find a way to squeeze more money out of macbook air. This is more of a competitor to the iPad than anything else. Now you've got legit questions about what to purchase at certain price points. LOL at the $1600 SKU being close to retina macbook prices.
$350-$400 for the sport, $550-$1100 for the steel, $10k minimum for the gold? All depending on size and band combinations.
Sure apple, sure. They still haven't really told a good enough story for this device to be even slightly interesting to me.

10K for a smart watch that will be outdated in a year?
Does this smart watch come with a threesome from Steph Badd and Strella Kat?
Does it come with a lifetime pass to Starlets or Lust?
Does it come with an iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, Mac Pro, and retina macbook pro?
Does this smart watch come with fitness lessons from Wendy Fortino? Does this come with lifetime yoga classes from CBQuality or Irene Pappas?
Does this edition come with farm of weed, dispensary license, and one month of operating costs?
Keep getting them checks Apple but I'll wait for Gen 2. Investors are happy as shit right now.

Get a $10K+ watch then see it be succeeded by the gen 2 model in 8-12 months brehs.
Apple has no limits.
Apple has no limits.
In for the 10K!

The thing is, watches are status symbols. Apple are not going to convince a chunk of the higher-up iPhone crowd to leave their good expensive watches home if not for a watch that can still say "hey, this shit was also expensive".
For plebs like me, the watch that matters is the sport one. That would be Apple's only one too if the watch market didn't have those very special specifications.

Time to convince a UK/German FootySlaenter to buy and send us one ;)

The thing is, a lot of other smartwatches (mine included) are steel anyway, but cost less than the sport.
