Trae Young is so tiny tho
going to free lunch on defense...in a league full of killer PGs.

By jjasper Go To Postdrafting Young at three is dumb as hell. At this rate it’s going to bePresent Memphis with the bag for 4th. How bad do y'all want that Parsons contact off the books?
1. Ayton
2. Bagley
3. Young

So an early decision this time?
Yeah, i dunno about trae. Every time I watched him i liked how he played / got stuff done.
There just seem so many caveats though. Height, turn overs, his athleticism won't be as big a deal in the NBA.
But he shot well enough, and did get 9ast/g. You go down their roster and there wasn't a lot of other options.

I'd have no problems taking Trae and missing at 3. He has elite shooting potential, quick release, deep range, and an insane level of confidence. I would feel bad if I missed on a guy who had the numbers and passed the eye test because of...reasons?
I wonder if the Hornets will grab Zaire Smith or fall for chalk and take Kevin Knox. Smith could be the type of player that completely stalls rebuild talk.

Trae doesn't pass the eye test though. If that's who you want trade back for him.
i dunno, maybe it's just me.

Translating guard numbers to the NBA is hard.
^Mitchell went 13, I think.
I still think last years guard class (just draft class in general, really) is the strongest we've had in years.

Fultz or Ball turning into NBA starters on winning teams.
One of those other top 10 guys to turn into a real NBA all star too.
Tatum going to be an all star. Jackson should be fine. Probably a starter.
But you'd want more out of Fox, Isaac, Ntilkina, DSJ, Monk, Kennard who all are ... very much "Jury is still out" on what they're going to do.
And that basically means every guard drafted in the top 12, out side mitchell, still has a lot left to prove they'll be regular NBA starters.
By joefu Go To PostHe is one of those coaches who have had next forever... it's too bad no one gave him a shot this year as well...
only thing I know about this guy is that his dad is Paul Silas lol
By giririsss Go To PostI think it will largely depend onI mean, of course they have stuff to prove. They just finished their first season. None of these kids are going to max out their first year. Players like Tatum and Mitchell are the outlier when it comes to development, not the norm.

I think Fox, Isaac, DSJ, Ball, and Fultz will all be quality starters in the NBA. Most of these kids were not put in good situations. Mitchell and Tatum were, hence why they developed quicker (IMO).
I think of those listened Monk, Ntilkina, and Kennard have the biggest hills to climb. Kennard looked good at the end of the season, but who knows what is going to happen in Detroit next year.

But at that point why not just take a chance on Porter
Most of these guys are 19 year old kids at the end of the day. Tatum also has the Stevens boost too (also had time time to ease into things).

These things take time.
As long as they don't look shook and showed flashes of what they could be, you're good.

His god father is Larry Hughes. So Tatum have a leg up on most people.
Trae just scares me man. I feel like people are ignoring his second half stretch where he played like trash,
By giririsss Go To PostI'd say it's largely because so many people are so wary after last years "stellar guard class" where the best pick came at #10? (mitchell). Its not even a numbers thing. The only reason he'd be successful at the NBA with his size is with a massive skillset and godlike conditioning. The only reason other short players survive is because they're tanks and incredibly quick. Trae doesn't have any of that and won't for a long, long time.
Translating guard numbers to the NBA is hard.
The biggest reason I was high on Mitchell is because Louisville low key has been a great development/tragic misuse farm system for ages. From Francisco Garcia to Lance to Terrence Williams to even Earl Clark - they churn out great guys that are only held back by fukkery. It was only a matter of time before they had a guy willing to get his shit together.

Also, you know why Trae sucks overall? Because Oklahoma didn't miss him. When he was gone, it was eh, when he got back, it was still eh. Also, its a bad look when teams can hit you with a triple team and your pg skills are so bad that you're just sitting there fucked for the rest of the season. Its not a good sign when college level traps can destroy you. Any NBA franchise PG should be having a field day with that from an early age.
I was hyping Trae when everyone was on Zion's dick. I can't believe the Curry comparisons. Curry did it for years. Trae wasn't even Jimmer good. Salim Stoudamire got hot. Wayne Ellington been hot. Guys get hot every year. If you want to risk it all for Trae man.... I wish you the best.
