Biggest loss this offseason for the Rockets.
THAT sucks, wow.
By masud Go To PostIf he retires he doesn't get all his check though. No way that happens. He was largely bought out by ATL, he's already got most of this years salary.

exactly. Can imagine if he's being benched and not playing 4th quarters that one game on a road trip he'd just say fuck it and not come back.

He's not going to have a choice at some point.
By blackace Go To PostCan't wait for CP3 to have a fit on the court because of MeloI'd kill to see him go off on Melo like he did DJ.

Melo just arrived and people start quitting already.
Shams reporting this morning that Towns won't sign an extension until the Jimmy Butler situation is "resolved."
So things are going pretty well for the Wolves right now. Smooth sailing.

Thibs is really on his Larry Brown shit. At least Wiggins and KAT till seem like they have the will to live though. Okafor and Morrison just Vontae Davis'd his ass.
By DY_nasty Go To PostThibs is really on his Larry Brown shit. At least Wiggins and KAT till seem like they have the will to live though. Okafor and Morrison just Vontae Davis'd his ass.At least Wiggins and Town get on the court. Tyus is demonstrably better than Jeff Teague for this squad, but gets no minutes ... um, why again? Oh, yeah, so the GM won't look bad for trading Rubio and giving Teague $20M a year.
They'll limp into the new year nursing a .500-ish record as the locker room is totally broken, Thibs continues to not play young players, overrelies on bad veterans that used to play for him in Chicago, and Butler is openly grousing to the media. Only then will Glen be forced into action. At which point, he promotes Ryan Saunders and suddenly Wiggins and Towns are trying harder.

By rodeoclown Go To PostShams reporting this morning that Towns won't sign an extension until the Jimmy Butler situation is "resolved."Clownshoes that people think Carmelo has a higher chance of walking off the court than half of Minny's roster. Hell Wiggins has played like he about to walk off after having to sit through Butler lecturing him.
So things are going pretty well for the Wolves right now. Smooth sailing.
By alt sy Go To PostIt would be a fireable offense to give up a first round pick for pat bev.
By Smokey Go To PostWhich is why the Suns are definitely thinking about doing it.Suns have a list of people they're considering. Pat Bev was one, but not at that price.
I like Pat, he'd be an ideal candidate, as a low usage guy. But he's coming off yet another injury, and he's never exactly been durable to start with. averaging ~50 games a season. at his age that's just not the guy you go all in on.
By The Frankman Go To PostClownshoes that people think Carmelo has a higher chance of walking off the court than half of Minny's roster. Hell Wiggins has played like he about to walk off after having to sit through Butler lecturing him. This is an especially dumb take.
Like, Towns has improved his game every year and, yeah, he's not great on defense, but the entire team fails on that end of the court. It's terrible to have your coach and the supposed locker room leader blast you all the time to the media, saying you don't work hard. That's not leadership, that's just bullying. Towns is one one of the few good things about the roster, the systematic failings are not on him not working hard enough.
An actual, effective leader and player development system would realize that not everybody responds well to "tough love" and figure out how to best get through to these guys. You know who did that? Sam Mitchell. It's not a coincidence that Wiggins had his best season as a pro under Smitch.
By blackace Go To PostI forgot that they also traded the pick that got Markkanen for this fuckery in MinnyThere was always a chance that it was going to be a rental for the Wolves. The problem is that Thibs compounded it by making a bunch of other moves for veterans on high dollar, short contracts, blowing his assets and cap space in the process for a two year window with this makeup.
He's a terrible GM. That's not really news. He's a bad judge of talent, he looks for players to fit a system rather than just trying to accumulate good players, he has zero concept about things like salary cap management. The truth is that he knew he'd probably get fired after the third year anyway, so he didn't care how he'd be leaving the roster after that.
Don't think anyone counts on being fired after the third year.
But the rest is true. He's been terrible as a GM.
But the rest is true. He's been terrible as a GM.
By giririsss Go To PostDon't think anyone counts on being fired after the third year. You're right. It's more likely that he just didn't think about it at all. Every move he makes has this eye towards telling you he didn't really think about what this move meant beyond that in that moment, he wanted to make it.
But the rest is true. He's been terrible as a GM.
At one point in time, he really wanted to give Andrew Wiggins $150M and he just did it. The next summer, he was already complaining about how much money Wiggins was making, as though he wasn't the one that gave him that deal.
Thibs was an overrated coach to begin with... and giving him GM duties too was just silly...
Mac-10 should had been the choice for a young team

By blackace Go To PostThibs was an overrated coach to begin with… and giving him GM duties too was just silly…McMillan or just rolling with Mitchell again would've been good for trying to develop young players. The players loved Smitch.

This is just funny in retrospect because I know how much the fan base would've hated them going with a "retread" like that. People were over the moon that Glen finally went outside of his country club buddies to make a hire and it just backfired spectacularly.
There's so many moments these days where I realize I seriously miss Flip Saunders.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Post"Fuck a tank, I just want RELEVANCE" is what got the Wolves where they are.Not really... they had a super young team that they already tanked for before Thibs blew it up.
You must be confusing hiring Scott Brooks instead of blowing up your team with what Minny did
