By Random Ass Username Go To PostNot really true Smokey. When men actually press for custody they're more likely to get it or they put the woman in the position of being the primary caretaker, so that's who tends to get custody in order not to disrupt the children's prior upbringing.I would like to see receipts for that
/shrug
Don't be a deadbeat dad or consider that having kids while you're away a lot of the time means your custody will reflect that.
Joint or full? Full or majority would be quite hard if they basically relegated their wife/gf to primary caregiver status because that's who will retain primary custody more often than not unless there are other mitigating factors like abuse. And it would work in reverse but most couples still fall into the woman as primary care taker/stay at home parent still.

There is absolutely no need that that child has that they’re going to spend $258k a month on.

See note no. 4, Fineman, pp. 79, 80, 90. The author cites two studies: note no. 2, Weitzman,pp. 231-35, and Polikoff, N. Why mothers are losing: A brief analysis of criteria used in child custody determinations. Women’s Rights Law Reporter (1982) 7:235-43. Weitzman’s figures show that, in 1977 in Los Angeles, 63% of the small number of fathers who requested either physical or legal custody received it, a figure that includes both contested and uncontested cases. Polikoff cites Weitzman and four other studies of court records. Three of the studies show men winning about half the time; the other, 38% of the time. See also note no. 30, Becker, pp. 182-83, 192-201. Becker further reports two studies, one in a North Carolina county under a best interests standard and her own study of West Virginia appellate cases applying a primary caretaker standard, in which fathers received sole physical custody in more than 60% of litigated cases at the trial level. Becker and Polikoff also review individual cases to demonstrate the bias toward women in the decisions. See also note no. 27, Maccoby and Mnookin, p. 273. The authors suggest selection bias to the extent that only the fathers with the strongest claims pursue them through the conclusion of litigation. Maccoby and Mnookin find that, where custodial conflicts are resolved after a court-appointed evaluation, through negotiations on the courthouse steps or through adjudication, there is a fifty-fifty division between mothers and fathers.Granted a lot of these are older but that was when the maternal presumption was even more prevalent in a lot of custody battles. Laws are pretty gender neutral for the most part. Far as child support that's a whole other rabbit hole to go down because of the typical dynamic of the individual with higher earning power staying in their job while the other stays at home because daycare is expensive af, and it's usually the father that gives up time with the children to earn money thereby sacrificing a lot of time/care with the children. If we wanted happy families we'd definitely be subsidizing childcare but America is one large collective of assholes who don't even organize for basic shit like that.

By Smokey Go To Postthat's what you think. Lil ones not playing around in 2018.My 6-year old ordered some Nike gear online. I got the email notification from Amazon and figured my wife did it while accidentally signed into my account. The box showed up and she was confused. I didn't even return it, because seeing that my kid even ordered the right size, I just had to respect the hustle. He knows not to do it again though.
By Random Ass Username Go To PostFor Under Armour too? Bruh.Given that he's still a month out from starting kindergarten, I'm amazed he got anything to our door. Kind of scared too...

Name changed, get used to it. I don't know what adding -kun to my name would have done, but I'm assuming it's some weeabo stuff I don't want to get involved with. I 'member it from Persona 4.
Why are there so many videos coming out of NBA players absolutely destroying little kids on the court this offseason? Usually they're tagged with a #NOEASYBUCKETS or #NODAYSOFF or something. Is this the great offseason joke of 2018 (aside from the Lakers' free agency)?

By Kibner Go To PostA certain size house, particular types of clothes, food, schooling, etc.Kid should be comfortable and taken care of. Dad should be there, supportive and involved. Kid’s parents are already divorced, suffering should be minimized.
But kid can probably make it through being raised in a manner comparable to or better than 99.99999999999999999% of human beings who have ever existed without being traumatized. That doesn’t take anywhere near that kind of budget.

I'd say we're just arguing over something that probably has more to do with %s and keeping that consistent more than anything else. It might be that percentage of income isn't allowed to fall below a certain number regardless of income amount. /shrug
Some states have caps on the percentage of income, the percentage varies wildly state to state too.
The way I see it if your dad's rich you should get to be rich too. But the rich dad should also get to hire a 3rd party to make sure all that money goes to the kid.
