By masud Go To PostY'all blowing it up though?Man that's a hard thing to do for them.
#1 seed. Blow it up?
The room for improvement is so marginal, but the drop off so huge.
Yeah you have to blow it up, their fan base has to be done with this squad.. even if they can still be good.
There were rumours midway through this series that Casey was on the hot seat, that game 4 egg might've done it. If they do can him, I figure they either replace him with Nick Nurse before some other team can take him, or promote Stackhouse. No idea what other moves they make though.
Masai's been trying to trade JV every summer for a while now, maybe his playoff showing makes that easier...or convinces him to keep the guy and see what a different coach can do. I don't know.
I don't think anybody's trading for Ibaka, not with two years left. Powell is dead weight.
DeRozan...that would be the shakeup move but I don't know what you could get for him.
They have to sign VanVleet, unless he gets an insane offer somewhere else - which is possible, he was undrafted so he's not restricted. If they do get him back, maybe that makes Delon Wright a guy you can move.

Yeah how else can you improve that roster? Celtics are gonna be better and they get their men back. Philly coming ...
By Fenderputty Go To PostYeah how else can you improve that roster? Celtics are gonna be better and they get their men back. Philly coming …You don't even have to improve it, just try for side-grade deals. Even come back with a slightly worse roster.. but it has to be different.

Side steps are kinda transparent, no? I mean, I would take being a second round bounce right now myself, but that shit has got to feel like purgatory to raptors fans.
Eh. The raps had some dark years. 2nd round every year isn't bad. Even if i'ts just to shit on John Wall.
they might be a 1st round team after this year too lol
this was their shot and they knew it
bucks gonna retool, boston coming for everyone's neck, indiana reddy, philly coming up, cavs gonna get something with that pick, etc
they can stay the course and won't get the #1 seed again. without momentum they may as well be the kidd/carter nets

A good summary of why the Raptors lost that is more than just "lol": https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/article/moore-ways-screwed-picking-lebron-cavs
i now feel miles bridges is the better bridges
also zhaire smith probably should be taken in the lottery

OMG at the Fizdale press conference one of the reporters asked a question about the landscape of the division. "You have Boston, Philly and Toronto..." *entire room chuckles*
Damn...
Damn...
By Red Blaster Go To Posti now feel miles bridges is the better bridgesEhh... dudes small for a 3 but he's a 4 though. Mikal is just skninny, you can fix that.
There are two passages from the Raptors piece that eat at me:
The Raptors didn’t — and couldn’t — switch everything the way the Pacers did, and they didn’t challenge the Cavs on-ball the way Indiana did. Toronto wanted to keep the Cavs in front, to maintain proper rotations. The Raptors never generated turnovers. They never pressured the ball. They just basically waited for the Cavaliers to rip them to shreds. They basically saw a worse offensive team in Indy take the Cavs to 7... and ignored everything they did.
That, too, I should have seen coming. From a scheme and personnel standpoint.
Step IV. The Mental Factor. The whole piece spat truth.
By Red Blaster Go To Postcongrats dy, i thought he wasn't v good in orlando have joke vaughn got canned but eh:I didn't even like him as a Pels assistant, tbh. I don't think that's a good pickup at all.
By s y 2.0 Go To PostHow do you judge how good an assistant is?Interviews and asking around
How Kibner does? i dunno.
i think that mitch either over thought it or front office/mj want to make absolutely sure they never deal with a coach bumping heads with the gm again
By s y 2.0 Go To PostHow do you judge how good an assistant is?Didn’t he have a stint as the Magic’s interim head coach? I’m sure he has learned a lot under Pop but I mentioned it before there seem to be other assistants on that bench that i’d go after before Borrego.
Who knows he could be good, i’m all for giving an assistant a shot rather than a previously failed coach
By s y 2.0 Go To PostHow do you judge how good an assistant is?Reputation and player relationships are a big part of it i’d guess. Kokoskov had a lot of high praise from players and coaches, and is apparently a go to person for Snyder. From a player development perspective or an x’s and o’s you can see the assistant coaches that are actually contributing
By Red Blaster Go To Postcongrats dy, i thought he wasn't v good in orlando have joke vaughn got canned but eh:
Cs get to keep Jay Larranaga!! *Tears of Joy*
By diehard Go To PostInterviews and asking aroundHe just always gave me a bad impression. The interviews he gave before/during/after games did not strike me as head coach material. And the things he was responsible for (that I honestly don't remember as it's been years), the team wasn't appreciably better at when he got there or worse at when he left.
How Kibner does? i dunno.
IIRC, he had stepped up to fill Mike Malone's role when he left and was no where near as good at it.
I mainly remember Borrego taking over lead assistant duties as being the first sign that the NOLA front office wasn't putting the supporting staff around Monty that he and the team needed.
By DY_nasty Go To Postshould've hired becky with the good playsI personally, without evidence, think Stackhouse would have been at least as good as Borrego. Becky probably better than both
tbf your team had a revolving door of players for ages, got bought by the league for basketball reasons, and anthony davis was only around in spirit
someone else can test drive that
By Kibner Go To PostI personally, without evidence, think Stackhouse would have been at least as good as Borrego. Becky probably better than bothsee that's funny because i want no part of stackhouse lmao

By Kibner Go To PostJust relating my experiences watching the man and team.that was before the shades tho
By DY_nasty Go To Postsee that's funny because i want no part of stackhouse lmaoAgreed. That's how little I think of Borrego as a head coach choice, though.

By DY_nasty Go To Postthat was before the shades thoI have no rebuttal to this.
What if you have a coach/gm that runs the entire organization with an iron fist and doesn't delegate anything except for some salary cap work? How are you supposed to judge how good the assistants are?
i wonder if we're keeping silas around at least :/
if we'd fired clifford when we were supposed to.... ugh

so nice of espn to buy out the staff of draftexpress and then produce zero draft content outside of paywalled mock drafts penned by jon givony instead of chad ford

Who has time for that? ESPN's countdown clock on the 2019 NFL draft has already started.
By Red Blaster Go To Postso nice of espn to buy out the staff of draftexpress and then produce zero draft content outside of paywalled mock drafts penned by jon givony instead of chad fordYeah. Refuse to pay for ESPN again.
But man, there is little to no draft content now.
Welcome, LFK / Omzz. It's like you guys never left.
Also Blaster, how did shooting guard Jeff Green become this good?
Also Blaster, how did shooting guard Jeff Green become this good?
I mean what is there to talk about the draft now. I'd rather it this way than how the NFL does it where it's just a 4 month onslaught.
Win 59 games with half a rotation on rookie deals, be a frontrunner for coach of the year, get the axe. If they do can him, I hope some struggle franchise who can't get over the hump picks him up fast. He's shown he can do a lot with very little.
By Kibner Go To PostI personally, without evidence, think Stackhouse would have been at least as good as Borrego. Becky probably better than bothboth of those are lacking in evidence...
New Knicks head coach David Fizdale said that Joakim Noah reached out to him after he was hired and that Fizdale is open to the possibility of Noah returning to the team. David Fizdale said he was not ready to commit to playing Kristaps Porzingis at power forward or center, and wanted to keep an "open mind."I actually would've like to see more of KP at the 3 since it's the weakest position for the Knicks. Not as many big lineups this year.
Noah got into an argument with former coach Jeff Hornacek back in February and never rejoined the team after that. With Fizdale now coaching the Knicks, it likely increases the chances of a reconciliation between the player and the franchise. GM Scott Perry said on Tuesday that "all options are on the table." When asked directly if he planned on playing Porzingis primarily at the 4 or 5, Fizdale responded: "All of it. Why limit it. Why put a ceiling on it. Right? I just see so many ways to use him. I want to have a real open mind." He also stated that KP represented the future of the NBA in that he could be viewed as "positionless" and can impact the game from all over the floor.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostBucks would be a good fit for him... or even the Magic if he can stomach a rebuild
