By xnipx Go To PostIs DSJ signed to lebrons management or something? Frank isn’t bad…not enough to warrant stirring the pot like this.Apparently he's known and mentored DSJ since high school.

James has known Smith Jr. since his AAU days.
"He's an unbelievable talent," James said. "His athleticism. He's very poised to be his age. He can shoot the ball. Penetrate. He's only going to get better and better with the opportunity that he's getting here to play.
"So, Dallas got a good one. I've been knowing that. I've been with him for so long now so, I've been knowing his talent level."
By diehard Go To PostJust say "he should have went earlier in the draft" specifically mentioning what team is just dumb. He's echoing what most of the members of this board have been saying though.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions to what that means.
By diehard Go To PostPray tell how the Celtics are going to draft a guy that will go in the top 3
You dare to question Danny?

"Lebron James shouldn't say true things."
Okay.

but diehard
By livefromkyoto Go To Post"Lebron James shouldn't say true things."There were multiple teams that probably should have taken him. Specifically mentioning the Knicks is silly, unless there is some ulterior motive. Is Lebron going to give a rundown of who should have taken whatever rookie he just played against for the rest of the season? He might just want to lay off trying to be a GM.
Okay.
By livefromkyoto Go To Post"Lebron James shouldn't say true things."
Okay.
First of all at this point in their careers there’s no truth to what he’s saying. Knicks didn’t make a bad pick, just picked a little less experienced guy.
Second, i’m beyond tired hearing about Ball and Smith. If I didn’t follow the league I would think they are the only two rookies in the league and neither of them are in the top three of the rookies this season (thus far).
Can’t link the tweet on my phone (or don’t know how), but WARP at this point has Tatum at 1,2, Markkanen 0,9, Ball 0,2 and most rookies (including Smith) having a negative rating.
And what exactly are those “multiple teams” that should’ve taken Smith? Philly incomplete because Fultz is hurt, Lakers probably not, Fox is playing well, Boston and Chicago, no. So... maybe Phoenix?
I don't think Smith gets that much coverage at all. Even locally there doesn't seem to be much talk about him.
I love Enes for coming out and defending Frankie publicly. I know he isn't making highlight dunks and scoring big numbers, but I've enjoyed watching his passing vision as well as the defensive pressure he puts on the opposing back court.
LeGM needs to relax and figure out how he can get a young, athletic, talented ball handler/scorer to run the point when he's not on the court right now. Not many of those guys around, not sure where he'll find one.
Ouch.

What has happened to the once-proud traditions of this place that lolknicks is no longer given its place of honour at the table of discourse?

Last I checked Smith was shooting at a 40% clip, handing out a massive 4+ assists per game and turning it over more than 3 times per game.
He’s a super athlete and can make exciting plays, but absolutely nothing right now suggests that he is, or will be, a great point guard. But boy can he dunk! Smh
how are you supposed to be a good rookie pg on the mavs lol
"okay, after you come off the screen - the 1st option is zombie dirk. if he's not open, look for harrison barnes in the corner. don't worry he never moves so you can't miss him. but if the defense has already figured out barnes, relax.... you've always got jj barea at the elbow. mavs on 3. 1,2,3 fuck nerlens!"

The notion of "best pg to play beside KP" is dumb. You need like three elite offensive players to really do damage in this league.

Last I checked (which was right now) Frank is shooting .340/.250 and scoring 4.4 points in 20 minutes.
Best fit!

I mean out of all the guards drafted in the top 10, DSJ has the best eFG%. The Mavs suck booty, but watching DSJ is giving me life
I didn't include Fultz since he was playing injured and I didn't even bother to check his stats

By Kibner Go To PostNot so much. He scored one more point on four more shots.Well he still had 1 more point on higher eFG and TS%. Paul got to the line but you still have to factor those in as possessions used.
What is it with this idea that DSJ is somehow worldly more experienced than Frank? They are less than ~250 days apart in age.

By joefu Go To PostHe also missed a year of basketball because of his knee injury…Knicks fans pls 🤦🏼♂️
dsj is overrated, all of a sudden people prefer offense over passing and defense. I prefer frank to finally have defense and passing on this team. Plus he is 19, offense can get better.
Why are people saying DSJ can't pass? He's pretty good...
His TOV% is pretty good. I dunno. DSJ is a good player and I'm happy he's on the Mavs.

By Kabro Go To PostPer 36/48 needs to die in a fire. It's kinda useful when trying to make better comparisons of players who get similar minutes but outside of that...
Thats so fake news
Since all the sudden Knicks fans love harping about assists and turnovers, here's a better stat to consume.
Rookies with over 150MP and a TOV% above 25%, sorted by WS:
DSJ's TOV% is 17%
Rookies with over 150MP and an AST% above 30%, sorted by AST%:

lmao per/36M
GTFO of here.
LBJ has every right to clown the Frank pick. DSJ looks like a god damn beast. Frank is just lucky there's only one NBA calibre starter on that entire roster.
This Celtics intro video is breaking my wack meter.
