By DY_nasty Go To Posti mean, he does everything else pretty damned good
i thought his defense would be the real issue but he's easily the best defending rookie guard
on the bright side, he's never practiced shooting before so it should only be 2-3 years to bury that shot and have it erased from the timeline
You think you can teach someone to shoot in 2 years? There’s a reason why fundamental skills takes years, if not decades, to learn. If they didn’t Dwight Howard might know some post moves by now.
And he’s doing things about as well as Rubio, except he’s nowhere near as good on defense. Jason Kidd had a pretty bad shot when he came into the league, but when it came to pushing the tempo, defense, passing and rebounding, he was light years ahead of Ball as a rookie.
The Lakers-Bucks game is going to be a joke tonight. Bledsoe gonna be acting like he back on the Clippers again
Well at least they still have that Deng contract to use as an excuse for dumping off Lonzo somewhere
Anyway the Celtics are my new team now.

shooting, by itself, is by far the easiest thing to fix. shooting off the dribble, playing off-ball, understanding defenses, etc are each their own mountains to climb. so, in other words, if you're not trying to learn how to play offense as a whole and just looking at the very small task of 'becoming an average nba shooter', then the task if far from monumental.
shooting for bigs is a different story because obviously they have alien bodies and their coordination is flatly different.
"nowhere near as good on defense" is kinda bs. Lonzo's defensive numbers are actually pretty good and again, he's the best defending guard in his class by a pretty significant margin. the lakers as a whole are actually a much better defensive team than they have any right to be.
also, kidd comparisons are even further off because if you put rookie jason kidd in today's pace and play style he'd be looking at waaaaaaaaay more assists. he'd be a top 15 pg as a rookie.
guys don't remember how bad many of the best scoring guards in the league right now were at shooting.
Still never understood why the Lakers traded D'Angelo... Was always a stupid move imo. If anything they could have waited till the deadline this season

it wasn't like mozgov was a timebomb or something
This has not been a good week for the Big Baller Brand. Like many people I'd hoped to see Lavar eat a little crow, but having one kid arrested and the other compared to Cliff Meely has got to be rough on any father/entrepreneur.
yah shooting is like, the one thing lots of nba players can improve on dramatically. aaron gordon made only 13 threes his rookie year--he's already made 25 this season and we're 12 games in.

Had to double check, but Durant shot 29% from 3 as a rookie.
The biggest flag that Lonzo will have a hard time fixing his shooting is that he’s Roberson-tier at the free throw line as well.
By reilo Go To PostThe biggest flag that Lonzo will have a hard time fixing his shooting is that he’s Roberson-tier at the free throw line as well.Does he even draw enough free throws for that to matter?
By RobNBanks Go To PostNo it’s not lol.
By Kibner Go To PostDoes he even draw enough free throws for that to matter?Maybe not but 1.7/gm at 50% is still terrible. Roberson only averaged 1.4 last year to be crowned WOAT at it.
Lonzo Ball shot 45% from three in college despite a huge chunk of his threes being from the NBA line.
He shot 30% from the field in high school, but people thought that he had gotten better at shooting and that the college percentages weren't a fluke. Good three point shooting+great rebounding and size+the best passing prospect in like two decades was definitely worth a top 3 pick.
But his shooting has been horrible.
But even now his most likely outcome is probably Ricky Rubio which is... fine.
(Also, why has Rubio's passing been so bad this year)

Looking at ft% throughout the league... Westbrook at 57% Dafuq? Drummond at 63.8 and deandre at 61.8 is nice to see... Drummond been Ballin out
Donovan Mitchell is on pace for the most shots per 100 possessions of any rookie in three decades.
Holy fuck.
Holy fuck.
By DY_nasty Go To Postnaw within context, walton is rightshit is horrible but Walton acting like he was driving to the tank at Tiananmen Square
go into another country as a part of outreach and you fuck up doing shit you'd never do in your own country? its disrespectful as fuck and is a legit setback and expense for everyone even remotely involved. its just too fucking stupid especially in times like these. if you want to be a piece of shit, be a piece of shit in your backyard. those kids at ucla creating years of work for people that don't even know them.
and they got money too. all this shit to fit in and be one of the cool kids

For comparison, Lillard in his rookie year averaged 21FGA per 100 Possessions. Donovan? 26FGA per 100 Possessions.

Yeah no excuse.

By blackace Go To Postif I didn't know that Ball tried to shoplift sunglasses I would had thought he was conducting human experiments in China thanks to Bill Walton… Tone it down
Bill Walton tends to speak in hyperbole, but I bet he was furious. By all accounts he was very appreciative of the hospitality the hosts in Hangzhou afforded them. He loves UCLA and this is tremendously shameful.
By Jeff-DSA Go To PostOur odds of winning it all are about the same as yours. There's no window of opportunity.Ah, ye olde championship or bust argument, as if 82 games don't matter. I've resigned myself to the fact that Harden is a regular season performer. In this Golden State era, I'd rather enjoy my team for those 82 games than talk about heaving in shots better than they can.

That Memphis bench is going to wreck us again. :/
As much as I love Tucker and Nene, a whole bench they do not make.

I like Diallo playing and not fouling everything in sight. I think he's going to be my favorite player if he can play in more games.
