In fairness to the senior team, I can imagine that being an absolute nightmare to try and truly enjoy.
Uninspiring manager after uninspiring manager, lack of spark in the team to take the heat off of the run-of-the-mill players, and a fanbase that now swings between complete disinterest, overexpectation, exasperation and rage.
It basically has all the ingredients to turn what should be something that makes you proud as fuck, into something that makes you miserable. It doesn't matter how much money they earn for their clubs, the players won't enjoy playing for England until some of the pressure is taken off.
Basically, we're not good enough to take it as seriously as we do. Let them enjoy and express themselves, and we might eventually actually look like a team rather than 11 strangers terrified to make a mistake.
