The fickleness of a people
Who would today choose freedom,
Which by another glance could
Mean emptiness
, Or with another twist --
The torsions of our tongues;
The glue
In our mouths --
Emerges radiant with possibilities or
Pregnant
With overripened sensibilities.
We mean what we say
Until we don't.
And the waves which we call history
And their uncanniness to overwhelm
Us are in the end
Ineffable,
And our choices are for nought
For they were never choices,
Only phantoms.

It's relatively early on in the season but they are not doing too hot, especially when compared to last year. If this result stands then they're (still) just 1 point clear of the relegation zone.
17 goals conceded against 13 scored.
Sneijder really isn't the player he once was but I did think he would offer more.

By Vivalapizza Go To PostIbrahimovic is gonna come back firing - zero doubts.I thought our left side was secured for the next few years with Martial, Pogba, and Shaw. Sucks our fatboy looks finished at United.
I find it hard to believe Rojo will return as a competent defender though.
Shaw is done.

Oh man, Real Madrid plays at Girona on Sunday too. Hope there's no violence at that match...if it even happens.
By Pennywise Go To PostAnd like the dozen of fucking dreadful decisions by EA don't count? You mean like what the staff said?
Read the damn thing.
While there are dozens of perspectives on whether or not EA’s decision to axe the studio was justified, many who worked at the studio say they couldn’t see this ending any other way.
“Honestly, it was a mercy killing,” said one former Visceral employee. “It had nothing to do with whether it was gonna be single player. I don’t think it had anything to do with that. That game never could’ve been good and come out.”
Looking back at the last few years of Visceral, people who worked for the studio have a lot of opinions. They have a lot of fingers to point: at EA, at Patrick Söderlund, at Amy Hennig, at themselves. One common theme, conveyed to me by at least three different people, was that changes should have been made years ago. “I think EA gave us too much leeway,” said one. “If anything, EA should’ve probably canceled this project earlier. I think Söderlund and them were too nice, gave us too many opportunities.”
It's normal for studios to demand features. It's another to be handled by a director who doesnt trust her workers, and the game being just another Uncharted clone.
Edit: you guys are ridiculous. Asking me to read it until the end when it's right there in the last few paragraphs that even the staff knew the game had more deep set problems than EA's demands.

@Flutter
There certainly were problems within the studio itself, but they were made much much worse by EA themselves. Ea wanted an Uncharted clone, but refused to budget the required amount to make it. Then you've got all the Frostbite shit, EA execs who don't seem to understand what type of game they want, how much these games cost or how much money they make. It's even right there in your quote. "I think EA gave us too much leeway." Then why didn't they scale it back and change things when they needed changing?

By OneTwoTee Go To Post@FlutterLook, Im not saying EA is not at all at fault for it, but when they spent time on bloody hand placement animation on the door to get it right, you have to wonder how did it get to that mess.

The level design was an imitation, the late approvals by Hennig, her insistence in handling every part of the production alienating her staff, the fact that the studio was in low morale, people leaving for a variety of reasons etc, etc.
There's plenty to criticise about EA. Theres more to criticise about Visceral, because its not like this is a Prey 2 decision where the game was in a really good state. Everyone said it was always in a mess.

But everything else you listed there is because of problems EA have created:
Imitation level design - The team likely didn't have the manpower of budget to properly create the levels, due to EA's underfunding.
Hennig - Was stretched thin, although this does sound like an issue with her not trusting her team. But EA could've brought someone in who she approved of to assist her.
Low morale - Again, due to EA's demands and underfunding. Probably also due to carrying on with a project that was inevitably going to be canned and should have canned sooner.
People leaving - Same as above.
It feels like a lot of what went wrong was a result of decisions made by the higher ups.

Because their budget wasn't good enough? Because EA decided to move Motive away from developing it? Because they had this shitty ass engine?

Also EA decided to force them do make that shitty E3 video, time they could have used elswhere.
When you're trying greenlighting a game like that, knowing that the studio is expensive due it's location, knowing that the engine isn't made for a genre like that and you'll lose alot of time adjusting and making the tools, knowing that they need a certain size to actually make something comparable to what they had in mind? It's just naive and a clusterfuck.
Of course they should have pulled the plug alot earlier, but they kept going on and made all those shitty decisions. Or they could have started EA motive alot earlier and moved them onto the project alot earlier to cut costs.
