Ppl want gronk to get suspended (and he should be) like him missing a game isn't going to be a good thing for the Pats long term.
Giants fired coach Ben McAdoo.Get
Following the disastrous mishandling of Eli Manning's benching, it had become clear all the hair gel in the world was not going to save McAdoo's job. While the coach did shepherd the team to a playoff berth last season, his offense was dreadful even as the Giants were winning, and those struggles continued this season even before injuries struck. If the losses were not enough, McAdoo was forced to suspend both Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins this season, suggesting there were serious problems in the locker room. Put frankly, this move had to be made. It would be surprising if McAdoo is considered for another head coaching job in the near future.
Giants fired GM Jerry Reese.
The Giants usually opt for the status quo over new blood, especially in the front office, but this change simply had to be made. After a successful start to his tenure which included two Super Bowls in five years, the Giants have tanked under Reese the last five seasons as he continually failed to address systemic issues on the offensive line and, aside from last year, the defense. He appeared to right the ship last season with several hits in free agency and the draft to help shore up the defense, but things fell apart again this year. In all, Reese finishes his 11-year tenure with a 90-82 record and two rings.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said "don't be surprised" if Eli Manning takes back over the starting job following the firing of Ben McAdoo.Wouldn't surprise me.
Considering how poorly it went over, it makes sense for the Giants to at least act like benching Eli was McAdoo's and former GM Jerry Reese's brainchild, and the best way to prove it is by putting Manning back under center to face the Cowboys
BTW, if Rob Gronkowski isn't suspended fuck player safety.

before the end of the season too?

NFL suspended Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski one game for violating the league's player-safety policy.Got off REAL lucky.
It's the expected, and deserved, outcome after Gronk's illegal Sunday hit left Bills CB Tre'Davious White with a concussion. Gronk was arguably lucky to escape with only a one-game ban. Although both Gronk and coach Bill Belichick expressed remorse after the game, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Gronk will appeal the suspension. If it's unsuccessful, he will miss next Monday's game against the Dolphins, or as fantasy owners call it, the first week of the playoffs. Gronk can return for Week 15 against the Steelers. Dwayne Allen will get the start in Gronk's absence, but won't be more than a wheezing TE2 for fantasy purposes.
By DY_nasty Go To Postthey should definitely give jeff fisher or lane kiffin a callWhy you have to invite such karma upon youself.
Oh crap Ryan Shazier looks like he got a stinger, but he wasn't moving his legs at all. Reached immediately for his back. Led completely with his head and jammed his neck on the tackle.
EDIT: Carting him off, never moved his legs.
EDIT: Carting him off, never moved his legs.
Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier exited Week 13 against the Bengals with an apparent neck injury.
Shazier went to tackle WR Josh Malone with the crown of his helmet in the first quarter, and he immediately fell limp to the ground after hitting Malone's thigh. Shazier was moving his arms and hands, but we didn't see him move his legs much, if at all. Players kneeled around him as Shazier was loaded onto a backboard and then carted to the locker room. He's out the rest of tonight.
This sport isn't going to last. I'm 34 and only one of my friends with kids are letting their kids play. No one else is even considering it.
I don't have problem with the block. But Schuster is obviously a bitch for flexing on him like that though.
Watch him get a longer suspension than Gronk who went out of his way to illegally hurt someone after a play.

Legal tackles with the shoulder should be similar in size to the MLB strike zone. Thigh to lower chest.
Saw on Google Newsstand just now via Deadspin this tweet in an article claiming targeting.
So just let him catch the ball? What is the defender realistically supposed to do there. He puts his shoulder right on the ball in Browns hands. Of course his helmet is going to also make contact on the follow-through. It's football.
If that's targeting then just put flags on them now. I'll even come out of retirement and tryout.

As Belichick said, that was a BS hit by Gronk. Could have seen 2 games for it, but he didn't have a history of it before. You can be frustrated with the way a game is called and not take a flagrant cheap shot.
Glad to hear Shazier has some feeling in his legs, watching the play live, first thing you notice is him reaching for his back and then it was very worrisome when his legs were not moving at all.

It's magnified because it's Steelers/Bengals who have a long rivalry filled with the cheapest of cheap shots. I missed the JuJu peelback "block", he absolutely needs to get a game suspension. In real time the Iloka hit looked bad but when you slow it down... what his he supposed to do?
But the idea of player safety in the NFL is LOLworthy. Remember the Case Keenum concussion years ago where dude was out out cold on the field and stayed in the game? And they changed the injury rules and enacted the concussion protocol? Well the same shit happened a few weeks ago with Jacoby Brissett...

By domino Go To Posti didn't think the JuJu block was bad but real tonedeaf to stand there over him. It's an illegal play. You're not allowed to peel back and hit someone, it goes under hitting a defenseless player because on a peel the defender is tracking the ball carrier and will never see the hit coming.
The blocking or even hitting a defenseless player rule is garbage to me but whatever. It's literally all about optics now and not having common sense about the actual violence of the sport they're being paid (underpaid for non QBs) to play.
If I'm coaching blocking on that play I'm telling kids to just lay on the ground and force the defender to jump over me or risk tripping.
That's legal under today's rules right?

If you're going to tout player safety peel backs had to go. LOOK AT HOW THE DUDE FALLS DOWN. He's lucky he didn't break his neck.
NFL suspended Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster one game for violating the league's player-safety policy.Moronic play by JuJu.
It's the right call after Smith-Schuster destroyed Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict with an illegal peel-back block then stood over him and taunted. In the release announcing the suspension, NFL executive Jon Runyan said Smith-Schuster's taunt played a role in the ban. The NFL is trying to send a message after Monday night's game got well out of hand. Smith-Schuster will return in Week 14 against the Patriots.
NFL suspended Bengals FS George Iloka one game for violating the league's player-safety policy.I'm not sure it was helmet to helmet, I'd love to hear the argument on this. I definitely think if it wasn't Steelers/Bengals he isn't suspended.
Iloka laid a helmet-to-helmet hit on Antonio Brown in Monday night's loss to the Steelers. He is appealing the ban.
I'm in the group that claims that's football. No one has ever been coached to not go 100% into a hit or block. That's how you get yourself hurt.
It's also comical that this is even an issue now because the NFL is built on the entertainment of big hits. Theres about 1000 a game and half a dozen in the trenches on every snap. Jack'd Up on ESPN anyone?
Pay more attention or go play golf with Romo.

That's how you get yourself hurt. And that's EXACTLY why more players are getting hurt. They're not blocking and just trying to hit people. Ryan Shazier was nearly paralyzed because he went to try and blow up the defender head-down instead of making a tackle. There are players who literally do not know how to tackle and just try to physically kill a guy using their helmets as weapons. That's not football. What you're looking for is brutality, and while the NFL can have examples of it, that isn't the core of the game.

Is the NFL hypocritical is marketing big hits? Of course, never said it wasn't. But in the wake of CTE and a potential backlash, they need to make measures to keep players safe. Properly tackling a person and not trying to paralyze people shouldn't be a dealbreaker.
Also, the notion that a player can't play clean and go 100% is nuts. Watch Luke Keuchely play the LB spot or JJ Watt at DE.
What happened to facemask in the chest, wrap up and follow through? Is that not a thing anymore?
I only played football for one year when I was like nine and quit mid season because I didn't like all the cardio during training. Went and played hockey for eight years.

i don't think it was ever really a thing beyond basic learning how to tackle. after that its basically get the guy down however you can and any injuries you cause are a bonus.
It depends on the coach, and there were/ARE coaches who still teach defenses to physically injure opponents. Jeff Fisher was a POS whose defenses had routinely been the dirtiest for years until he was fired this year.
how we feeling about lamar jackson at this point? i know his season wasnt nearly as good as last year but his supporting cast also wasnt either
By domino Go To Posthow we feeling about lamar jackson at this point? i know his season wasnt nearly as good as last year but his supporting cast also wasnt eitherAs an NFL prospect?
Yes, the College thread and the NFL thread look alike
By domino Go To Postyeah as an nfl one.Less NFL ready than Sam Darnold (USC) or Josh Rosen (UCLA), but aguably the highest upside of any QB due to his athletic ability/development as a QB. To me, he's Super RGIII or just potential to be better than the way DeShaun Watson came out of the gate... he just lacks Watson's poise and experience playing it big pressure situations. He'd need a year holding the clipboard and being mentored by a vet QB IMHO.
He REALLY needs to learn to see progressions better as his O has been simple plays where "If X isn't open, throw to Y". IN the NFL he's going to be asked to go through a full progression; it's something Russell Wilson can do, Cam has improved at it; and DeShaun was still learning how to do it.
EDIT: Dude needs to eat a steak. Did I see 210 pounds?
Tood McShay described Baker Mayfield as "having elite leadership abilities that make up for his physical shortcomings which have improved his draft stock tremendously."
But, sure, Lamar Jackson won't be worked out as a quarterback. Get the fuck out of here.
I hope Jackson declares, doesn't travel to the draft and then falls to the bottom of the first round and is taken by a playoff club (Ozzie pls).
Edit: Watson was playing on a very good National Title winning team filled with top prospects too let's not forget.
Louisville have been awful this year in all aspects of the game. His TD numbers are lower (by 9) but his yards per attempt both in the air and on the ground have gone slightly up. His completions are also up at 60%. He's improved while those around him have regressed.

Giants need to get in on that action. New York would be a PERFECT fit for him, Eli can play out 2018 and Lamar learns from one of the smartest, hard-working QBs out there.
Bengals S George Iloka's one-game suspension has been rescinded, and he will play Week 14 against the Bears.Good job by the NFL. It clearly wasn't an intentional shot.
Iloka laid a helmet-to-helmet hit on Antonio Brown in the end zone late in the Monday night loss to the Steelers, but he's not known as a dirty player and has been fined just over $35K instead. The Bengals need him against Chicago with DBs Dre Kirkpatrick, Adam Jones, and Shawn Williams all hurt.
