Was driving home today after watching the Pats/Chargers game, caught the Houston/Seattle game on the radio. Was pretty crazy listening to, wish I could have watched it.
This is the first I'm reading about the McNair comments also, was in the mountains this weekend so didn't have internet connectivity. Extremely stupid comments given the context of the meeting. Despite the distraction, Texans came out a played a good game from the sound of it (offensively at least).
By whytemyke Go To PostLions D is not super talented but our DC is awesome so they tend to play above our talent level.
Definitely impressed with their D so far. Pitt has alot of talent, especially on O. And Det definitely has the offensive talent to attack the Pitt weakness (Pass D).
Le'veon has a great instinct for finding the running lanes, but none of that is possible without great run blocking by the entire offense. One guy misses a block and all that "patience" just results in tackles for loss.
It's weird... I thought Steelers would change the O with no Bryant, but they are still taking tons of deep shots to Brown, Rogers, and Smith-Schuster. I don't think that's a wise strategy with Ben's deep ball accuracy a big question mark.
Feel like these FG's instead of TD's are gonna bite Det. As good as Det D is playing, Pitt O is going to put up some points, unless they are planning to turn PItt over another 3-4 times in the 2nd half.
Not surprising, but doesn't appear Andrew Luck is close to playing this year.

I don't think that's a wise strategy with Ben's deep ball accuracy a big question mark.In spite of the last of that last 98 yard TD, he might be the weakest part of the offense. Until Bell got hurt in the AFC championship game last year, the Pats were loading up to stop him and Antonio Brown and they were going to make Ben beat them. Game plan just happened to get easier when Bell got hurt.
Pitt certainly has a tremendous knack for finding WR's, can't forget about Emmanuel Sanders as well as the guys they already have on the roster.

I give Mike this he knows how to find'em.
I was posting on another football forum... Detroit is a very regimented team for some reason. Abdullah is runs between the 20s, Riddick is their receptions out of the backfield guy, and since last year Dwyane Washington is goal-line. It's weird because DW is actually a converted WR. It's maddening because they don't give the ball to Abdullah and let him cook. He's a capable pass catcher and isn't so small he can't be used at the goal line.
I don't get it really, but they have done it for years.

EDIT: Yep.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Zach Miller underwent "urgent vascular surgery" on Sunday night to repair artery damage in his dislocated knee.

Seahawks acquired LT Duane Brown from the Texans in exchange for CB Jeremy Lane, a 2018 fifth-round pick, and a 2019 second-round pick.
The Texans just played in Seattle on Sunday, and it was Brown's first game of the season after a seven-week holdout. He played all but three snaps and performed well for not being on a field for months and only having a week of practice. Brown made noise last week after owner Bob McNair's insensitive remarks and very clearly wanted out of Houston. Brown had been holding out for a new contract, so it will be interesting to see if GM John Schneider gives it to him. Brown is 32 and signed through 2018. In the short term, he'll immediately replace Rees Odhiambo at left tackle and provides a big upgrade to Seattle's weakest spot.
Seattle has to clear salary to fit Brown's contract on the books, and Lane, who makes $4 million this year, is part of that maneuver. Lane had been a serviceable corner for the Seahawks prior to this season, as he's struggled with some injuries and was demoted to No. 4 duties behind rookie CB Shaq Griffin and ex-Patriot Justin Coleman. Lane will be the No. 4 corner in Houston as well.
By StarFireMk4 Go To PostGarropolo traded to the 49ers for a second round pick i think. Not sure what to think.
By RATHasReturned Go To PostSurprised they didn't get something for this season.Tom Brady has no backup QB. It's expected that they may sign Brian Hoyer, who was released by the 49ers.
By StarFireMk4 Go To PostGarropolo traded to the 49ers for a second round pick i think. Not sure what to think.Just found out, really surprised. Don't like it on the surface. Plus Brady has gotten the hell beat out of him this year (though the o-line has looked better as of late). Still think they make a move for a front 7 player. Hear hey might make a move for Ebron also, wouldn't surprise me there, Dwayne Allen has been a disappointment this year. Ebron doesn't appear to have the most sure hands, which is a big red flag. (Fun fact, Edelman actually has some farily bad hands also though).
Essentially the same thing they got for Cassel. Think Garoppolo could actually become a legit starting QB though.
This isn't a battle the cowboys are going to win. They really should have eaten the suspension (wasn't it reduced to 3)? If it is re-instated, its the full 6 now right?

I hope he comes out of this ok.The announcers were just prattling on about whether it was a catch or not, too. "yeah, his leg looks like it buckled, but, more importantly, i think he fought through the pain to catch that ball right there. definitely a catch. wait, it's ruled not one? that has to hurt for zach miller and his qb after such a perfect throw."

Eagles acquired Jay Ajayi from the Dolphins in exchange for a fourth-round pick.Holy crap they are going all in. THEY ARE ALL IN.
While this looks shocking on the surface, coach Adam Gase took a shot at Ajayi following the team's loss to the Ravens last Thursday night and had clearly soured on the back. Now in Philly, Ajayi should take over as the lead back ahead of LeGarrette Blount and will get to run behind a solid offensive line for the first time in his career. Even likely to share work, this is a great move for Ajayi's fantasy value.
By Music Man Go To PostAjayi has been traded to the Eagles for a 4th round pickGase lost the team with that blanket attack last week. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get canned if things don't improve by the end of the year.

there's no chance he gets fired. they would have fired him before he could make a trade like that. the fact that he's still with the team after that trade shows that they trust him. the fact that Gase even proposed that trade shows unmitigated confidence.
The rumors I am hearing are nuts. At least 2 more big moves may happen, Colts are firesaling and Cowboys MIGHT trade for a RB.
Didn't realize how poorly the dolphins offense has been this year. Surprising they are 4-3 with how ineffective they've been so far on offense.
Steelers will NOT trade Martavis Bryant. BOOOOOOO
Jarvis Landry rumors growing but nothing imminent.
Frank Gore rumors coming in now... 50 minutes to deadline.

Thinking more about the Garoppolo deal, it's telling BB traded him to the NFC. If the thought is they would lose him no matter what, at least dictate where he goes. Not that Garoppolo would be angry at NE, but BB thinks highly of him given how long he held onto him. If he turns into a franchise QB, at least the chances of him staying in the NFC and wreaking havoc there just went up quite a bit. He had no qualms about trading Cassel within the conference. He had no qualms about trading Bledsoe within the division.
Also, it appears Hogan didn't not suffer any significant damage from the hit to his shoulder and it won't require surgery. No timetable on his return, it will be re-evaluated after the bye.

I'm sad to see Jay Ajayi go. He was such a fun player to watch and gave it his all no matter what the score or the team's record was. But I have to be honest, the Dolphins are real close to spiraling down to bottom 5 territory and I'm happy he gets a shot to go play with a solid contender. If they move Jarvis Landry though, that's going to legit piss me off. I'm already hearing that they are ready to wash their hands of Suh after this year.
I guess you might as well do your rebuilding while Brady is still around. Try to get good 2-3 seasons from now, because you're not winning the AFC East in the short term.

Jets acquired CB Rashard Robinson from the 49ers.Has lots of talent but can't put it together.
It's unclear what the Jets are giving up. The 2016 fourth-rounder had started 7-of-8 games for the 49ers this season, but struggled mightily, grading out as one of Pro Football Focus' worst cornerbacks. The 49ers are stockpiling picks, while the Jets are trying to add some depth to one of the league's most surprising teams. Robinson could push Darryl Roberts for No. 3 duties in the Big Apple. Buster Skrine has also been struggling.

One last big trade before the deadline: The #Bills trade for #Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin in exchange for a 3rd rounder and a 7thn rounder.
Bills acquired WR Kelvin Benjamin from the Panthers in exchange for 2018 third- and seventh-round picks.DAYUM. Bills going for it.
The out of the blue trade was announced just moments before Tuesday afternoon's deadline. Although a stunning transaction, the landing spot isn't surprising in an organization teeming with ex-Panthers. Coach Sean McDermott was the defensive coordinator Benjamin's first three years in Carolina, while GM Brandon Beane was in the Panthers' front office when they made Benjamin the No. 28 overall pick of the 2014 draft. Benjamin's inconsistencies are well known, but he still gives the Bills a legitimate No. 1 receiver, and 6-foot-5 target for Tyrod Taylor to play pitch and catch with. A WR2, Benjamin's fantasy outlook doesn't change much. Turning 27 in February, Benjamin will be headed to free agency.
By Bowser Go To PostThis is a headscratcher to me. Kelvin, for all his faults, was the only proven WR this team had.Benjamin is a FA and they are higher on Funchess than Benjamin, who has had weight issues. Sheperd has looked ok also and Samuel is in the mix.
