Their animations definitely fluctuate within their RAGE engine. The little things can look great but then transitions to other animations or going into cover or jumping (or lining up a jump) can be all over the place.
I'm in the middle of Red Dead Nightmare right now and climbing up ledges and moving around on uneven ground is a guessing game more than I remember from the full version.
