By sohois Go To PostWhere exactly would Barton (presumably Joey?) get that kind of information?I'm not saying it's true but;
Joey Barton was born in Liverpool, was in Everton's youth system before transferring to Liverpool FC.
It won't be a stretch to say they have mutual friends or acquaintances.

So despite them having a huge bust-up over his imminent departure he still played Chamberlain against Liverpool? No other manager in the world would have done that. Just leave him out, Chamberlain is not Messi. Wenger behaves as if these average players are more important than the club, he treats them like they are his children. Arsenal's future success is not dependent on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain FFS, the guy hasn't even scored 10 goals in the PL.

By Ushojax Go To PostThe simplest explanation is most likely the correct one. All summer he wanted to join Tottenham, only Chelsea ended up making a bid but they wanted him as a quota-filler. He quickly went cold on the move and decided to wait until January. I doubt Conte is tearing his hair plugs out, he was never going to play him anyway. If Barkley had actually wanted to join Chelsea then he would have.Chelsea got their English midfielder in the end in Drinkwater so I can't imagine Conte is too fussed as long as one of them takes up a homegrown spot.

That'd be quite the January signing.
Wouldn't that eliminate him from playing any CL games for the rest of the season?
Wenger :-/
I know people are sceptical at how much Ornstein knows but that detailed account suggests a lot of leaks. Hes basically reporting that about 15 players were unsettled this summer.
At the same time maybe that level of uncertainty amongst a squad isn't that unusual and it just appear worse cos Arsenal are Arsenal.
We need Beckham in on the unveil and his tan will be fuller come July.

If Barkley had actually wanted to join Chelsea then he would have.I agree. I said this regarding Chamberlain, but it applies to Barkley as well. We don't play a formation that suits him. Spurs make more sense, and if they didn't bid, then it's perfectly reasonable that he would be willing to wait while recovering.
And nothing has come out over the weekend to change my position on what went down on deadline day.
Also, considering Barkley won't play until January anyway, any savings the buying club makes, will probably increase his signing on bonus.

Spanish league president Javier Tebas said in a statement to The Associated Press that Abu Dhabi-funded City and Qatari-owned PSG are benefiting from state aid which “distorts European competitions” and “is irreparably harming the football industry.”
Of all the shit defenders Wenger has kept on the books, how the hell can he be disappointed with Mustafi under one season?

We all know Messi was desperate to join Man City last summer, so it wouldn't surprise anyone if he finally got his big move next year.
One thing I don't get is this narrative that Mustafi is shit.
Watched a lot of Arsenal matches past season and I thought he did well.

No one does. Started off VERY well think he had a car accident or something and went through a shaky spell but FAR superior to Gabriel imo (sorry pele)

Really? It reads pretty clearly like a planted leak coming straight from the club hierarchy to me. Deflects blame again and again and again. "There's no money" "They're trying to compete" "Blame Stan" "Arsenal is just like poor, little Leicester" "We actually didn't make any money off of Ox because of a sell-on clause that may or may not exist"

Vincent Janssen and Erik Lamela left out of our CL squad. The latter isn't a surprise due to his injury but Janssen has been kicked to the kerb. I don't know why he turned down that loan to Brighton.

Yup, the Rams have been abject for decades after lucking into the Greatest Show on Turf - and he took years before he fired their laughingstock of a coach Jeff Fisher
He's going to run it back as many times as possible and rely on the big city market and growing TV revenue to grow his asset, and literally nothing else
Mustafi is a better defender than Kosc, but most people love those last minute tackles and believe that is what makes a food defender. Mustafi is a lot more diciplined and has a better reading of the game. The problem is that he he was playing between idiots in the back four, and a back three requires a lot of work on the training ground to learn how to play adequately, espexially if you are not the central man.

Bryan Ruiz not included in the Champions League list, as expected.
Too bad he has been such a cunt and refused every offer because he still believes that he can play on a top European league.
