Jesus christ just go to an 8 team playoff already so you have to objectively win your conference to make it to the playoffs.
8 team playoff makes it worse IMO, more teams can complain about not getting in at that point.

Most common prediction for us seems to be Heart of Dallas bowl versus Utah. Seems like a good matchup, though Whittingham being 10-1 in bowls isn't a good sign.

So that gets you 5 conference champs, at most. So 3 others don't have to "objectively" win squat.
I don't mind 4, but wouldn't mind 8, either. But I for dang sure don't care about guaranteeing a spot to all P5 champions.
tl; dr Don't lose at Iowa by 31.
Name any other sport that does 4 team playoffs.
Even the FCS manages more than 4 team playoffs. They literally play the same game. They play the teams IN these playoffs.

Name another sport that has 100+ technically eligible teams vying for 1 championship. UCF is undefeated....
NASL has a 4 team playoff granted its only a 10 team professional soccer league.

Only problem I have with the committee is that last week the margin between Alabama and Ohio State was supposedly razor thin. By the committees own comments a win over Wisconsin winning the conference, regardless of the margin, should have put OSU in the playoffs. Now if the committee just didn't think Wisconsin was all that good then I can live with that but they shouldn't have had them 4 then. Should have had them Top 10.
Other than that I do think Alabama is the better team but the way the committee handled it is bullshit. They should have had Bama in the Top 4 from the beginning if that's how they felt.

Wisconsin wasn't that good.
Basically Ohio State shouldn't have lost by a rack to an unranked team.
By domino Go To PostWisconsin wasn't that good. Then why have Wisconsin ranked so high?

Cause they were undefeated from a major conference. Can't do anything but keep bumping them up until they lose even if they didn't play anyone (Michigan is shit)
If the committee thought they were any good they would've been #1 going into the weekend. They were only in the top 4 because they basically had to be

Birmingham Bowl versus South Florida.
So we got a 9-2 G5 team with a few draft picks on the roster, a head coach that has coached against us the last 3 seasons, in a location we likely won't travel well to. Not optimal.

The bottom of the Big 12 got kinda shafted for its bowls. You guys got a good USF team. We got Memphis on their home field. Kansas State got UCLA in Phoenix. West Virginia got a Utah coach who is 10-1 in bowls. Texas just sucks. The other ones are alright.

and people say we were crazy. I would rather be crazy than so apathetic to allow something like Herm Edwards to happen.
Oklahoma starting RB Rodney Anderson accused of rape.
Don't think Riley can play him in the playoff with the program's recent history/

damn i feel old now if he's old enough to be a coach. same w/ hearing Tee Martin's name in the mix for a job.

By Randolph Freelander Go To PostWillie Taggart is taking the Florida State job.Lotta bad feelings around here for Willie. I'm so salty. Not really at FSU, but at Taggart. At least I have something to be pissed off about besides politics now. #DidNothing #GoGators
I'm dubbing this the Oregon Bail.
By KingGondo Go To PostWho do you want to replace him?Kneejerk reaction is to retain and promote Jim Leavitt. What he did with the Oregon defense was a literal cfb miracle. I don't see how that happens with Cristobal being named the interim head coach for the bowl game though. There is also a bunch of smoke about Leavitt going to FSU or even taking the KState job after their bowl game and Snyer retires (rumors, rumors, rumors). So who knows. None of the assistants can even talk to other schools until after our bowl game so that situation won't clear up until then.
I could talk myself in to Kevin Sumlin too. I think what Taggart did prove is that you can recruit to Oregon and Sumlin has a good reputation as a recruiter. Just continue to pay for a good coaching staff and I think we'll be fine.

congrats jjasper. Jeremy Pruitt of Two-A-Days fame (legendary MTV football reality show) is your new head coach. he didn't know what asparagus was well into adulthood
oh yeah and i guess he was Alabama's DC too but that aint what I know him from
how's vol nation taking it?

I’m cool with it. Better than fucking Greg Schiano. Been successful under multiple coaches so I am less likely to think he is the by product of Saban like most of his assistants. Probably has about a 60-70% chance of being a bust, but I can at least get behind him and see a scenario where he is successful.
Mario Cristobal is the head coach at Oregon. I'm really buying in to this hire. Don't know if that green tinted glasses or not, but I think he's what this program needs right now. Just a stable, even keel, honest-to-goodness football coach with a bit of an edge. No gimmicks, no catchphrases.
For years I complained about us throwing deep corner routes and fades to 5'6" Jakeem Grant. Practically the only guy on the field giving up height to a CB at all, and in his case it was almost half a foot.
A few minutes ago he just caught one of those against the New England Patriots for a touchdown.
Maybe we weren't so crazy after all.

I didn't expect this twitter thread of Texas schools as Vines to be mostly small schools but some have me :jnc'ing nonetheless.
Our basketball team is playing against Florida Atlantic right now.
It's our third straight game against a team with Owls as their mascot (starting with Kennesaw State and Rice).
