Sounding like:
Kevin Sumlin to ASU
Dan Mullen to Florida
Greg Schiano to Tennessee (I’m so sorry Jasper)

I am just going to hope this an elaborate smokescreen to get everyone up in arms so that when they announce they are bringing back the LaneTrain everyone is happy.
By jjasper Go To PostJust shut down the program. Invest in something else it isn’t worth the trouble.Schiano is just awful :(
By domino Go To PostDan mullen 😂I think that's actually a pretty good hire. *shrug*

Most bizarre this about this is all the national media supporting this and wondering why Tennessee fans would be upset
This whole thing is a disaster. I think at this point you are probably going to have to fire/force the resignation of the AD.
Looks like the fans actually killed the hiring. Pretty incredible. I am glad the fan base is finally speaking out and revolting from the shitshow that has been the UT athletic department. This will probably lead to a disaster hire as no one is going to want to touch the job now and will set the program back at least 5 years but was probably necessary to induce much needed changes at the school that thinks it can trot out awful football teams and still rake in money and get 95k people at every game.

The whole thing is crazy from the politicians trying to take some moral high ground to apparently multiple boosters and AD members telling Currie not to hire him the day before to the medias weird view to vilify the fans.
I hadn't realized (or just forgot) Schiano was so clearly implicated in the Sandusky stuff. I was wondering why the reaction to him was so overwhelmingly negative.
::edit::
Not that he was 100% proven to have done anything, just meant "clearly" as in "he was specifically mentioned by name" as opposed to just "he happened to be there around that time."

whew my Mountaineers prominent on here.
Pete Robertson is a former Tech player and McCoy's Redskins teammate. Looks like somebody lost a bet.
By Karl2177 Go To PostHope we follow suit on that raise in the staff's annual compensation. DC Gibbs certainly deserves it, and IIRC we're pretty low on the totem pole as far as P5 staff compensation.
Could help get a new OC as well. Word is that Kingsbury may be "strongly encouraged" to give up playcalling duties, and if he does so I'm not so sure that it will be current OC Eric Morris doing it. He and Kliff have a great relationship but he may be ready to move on after 5 seasons.
going off twitter Tennessee football is basically behind driven in the ground by Haslam dynasty (Cleveland Browns family lol)

Another year, another round of Gundy coaching rumors. This time Tennessee.
He would be the lowest-risk hire they could make imo. I wouldn't blame him for taking it either, outside of the horrible dysfunction of the athletic department. Cultural fit, more money, higher ceiling for the program, etc.

By KingGondo Go To PostAnother year, another round of Gundy coaching rumors. This time Tennessee. Not the first time it's been Tennessee, is it? Don't pay much mind to the rumors in general but they're the big one I seem to remember from years past that I thought "this one might happen, if he and Pickens really hate each other as much as they seem to."
Depends on what Gundy wants. He seems happy here, but I won't underestimate the appeal of a new challenge and the chance to cement himself as a great coach by bringing a storied program back to prominence. Not to mention more money.
I think he has 10 years max of coaching in him now. Maybe he sees this a good challenge and it doesn't foreclose the possibility of him retiring at OSU down the road or serving as AD or something.

They are also offering fucking 8.4 million dollars.
How we ended up with Butch. Tried to get Gundy when that failed they talked to Strong who apparently was mad cause it was clear he wasn't the #1 choice and so they went to Butch.

With an easy answer. Schiano was the guy Haslam wanted and so there was no search. Him and Currie didn't involve anyone and the whole search thing was a sham..
I don't think we will get Gundy but every name that has been thrown out as potential candidates since Sunday's debacle are better than Schiano.

I am absolutely shocked by this turn of events (not really) I actually think it was kind of dumb for Tennessee to try and hire him. He was never going to leave now the fans are just going to get even more apathetic. Should have just tired Tee Martin cause we all know that’s were this is heading.
By KingGondo Go To PostI hope it works out for you guys. The only way it will work out is if this leads to a complete destruction and reorganization of the athletic department. We are trending that way so that is good I guess.
Although I still want Lane for the hilarity/spectacle of it.
Lane has become a true MVP on Twitter. Just throw it on the heap of weird ass shit in 2017.
I think Currie needs to lose his job over this. Absolute mess and embarrassment to a program that should not have this kind of trouble bringing in a quality head coach. I've a soft spot for UT. Even if you don't buy his connection to the Penn State scandal, Schiano was a terrible hire.

The Schiano crap is a perfect example of Twitter mob rule. Schiano wasn't implicated in anything, the exact communication was something to the extent of "a friend of a friend heard he was around" at the time. Now I think Schiano is a idiot, but this reeks more of "We don't like Schiano let's try to find evidence to oust him" rather than "Schiano covered up molestation".

schiano is still a piece of shit for many other reasons beyond being a bad coach and being involved in the Sandusky coverup.
By Kibner Go To PostSchiano also abuses his players, was responsible for an MRSA outbreak, and leaked a player's confidential information.NFL sure, was decent at Rutgers. I am well acquainted with Schiano's Schiannigans, however that's no excuse to use thirdhand allegations to discredit him further.

I don't know enough about the Oklahoma State situation, but what are your thoughts on this Gondo?

I would just like to say this. If we hire Dave Doeren my alumni status will be up for a draft to whatever school wishes to own it. I have three degrees so I would like to think I am a somewhat intriguing prospect to a respected well run university. Also I hope someone writes a documentary about this one day.
my old college roommate is a NC State fan and he's praying Doeren goes before they end up extending him
Doeren was on the hot seat this year you can't hire someone that was on the hot seat entering the year.
Its from Clay Travis so grain of salt but if true lololol there is so much stupidity involved here it is awe inspiring. At least now everyone will know what the fans have been dealing with for 10+ years.

Him clashing with Gundy and failing to retain Underwood are only visible signs that he's difficult to work with.

I don't know why our increased on-field success hasn't translated to more recruiting success. That's the next step for the football program, and whatever Gundy wants to improve recruiting needs to happen.
I've heard good things about Weiberg, although supposedly he's a big Under Armour guy. I'd be very annoyed if we switch from Nike.
