Rockets defense
Dwight on: 100.9
Dwight off: 104.3
Harden was the worst defender in the league last year is now average to kind of above average. Ariza is a much better defender than Parsons. Donuts, Smoove, and TJones are playing better defense than TJones did last year I think... The 2014 Rockets other than Dwight aren't really comparable to the 2015 Rockets without Dwight on defense.
Statistically, prime Dwight was just DeAndre Jordan with the ability to volume score on offense, yes... How you compare Dwight to Jordan depends on much you think volume scoring matters. If medium to low-efficiency volume scoring doesn't matter at all, then sure prime Dwight is comparable to prime DeAndre on offense.

Depends on the team itself. Some really need their center to be scoring machines, some need their center to be the rebounding/box out dude before he bothers with trying to go to the board.

Dwight is comparable to DeAndre because of their skill sets. Prime Dwight wasn't as much of an afterthought on offense as DeAndre has been for his entire career. But their skill sets are pretty much the exact same. DeAndre's numbers without Blake should take care of the volume scoring argument too.
Dwight last year had his one good season in the last few. No one's arguing that peak healthy Dwight isn't a force on defense. of course he is. But replacing 2015 Jordan with Hawes would do worse damage to your defense than replacing 2015 Dwight with DMo. 2015 Dwight hasn't been an elite defender and the team's improved despite his absence.
Which is why I said when healthy. And I've said these things before...on the other sites. I've only been posting here for like a month and he's been gone during that time.
Howard's popularity stemmed from the dunk contest and he took off after that. He's never been or will be a polished offensive player. DeAndre isn't even close to the player Howard is on offense, unless you just want to use the Blake Griffin excuse. And I know someone posted the chart here, I don't think we've been much better without Howard on defense but there's not much of a dropoff with him out, which I think it's fair to attribute that to our PF rotation compared to just Jones last season(Asik wasn't in the rotation for half the season).
Morey's legacy is dictated by what the Harden/Howard teams accomplish. You could argue the Rockets could have beat the Lakers if Yao and TMac don't break down that season. Never said McHale is a top coach(though I still firmly believe he gets a bad rep), you can't say anything positive about Kobe without looking stupid, and Morey's kept the team competitive in a year were many said we're not even going to make the playoffs.

guess RayRay doesn't know which team will chip so he won't play this year.

What many said is irrelevant. Sure. He will ultimately be judged on what the Harden/Dwight teams accomplish. But if you truly think that, than why, in 2015 do you think he's a good GM? They haven't accomplished anything. As I've said, if they chip, or even make the Finals or CF - I'll consider him one. But people been on his bandwagon since he came in because of his approach, not his results. It's why people think Hinkie's good. They're obsessed with the most clever guy in the room because they mistake being clever with being competent.
Dwight and DeAndre are the same person offensively. More or less the exact same. It's just about touches and opportunity, but their skill sets are the same.
DeAndre's 11 PPG on 72% shooting this year is awesome though.
Going by OWS, this offensive year of his is on-pace to handily beat Dwight's best offensive year.
Why does my Avatar look all low-res and shit now on the front page, do I need to reupload it or something?

Because he knows his limitations and doesn't try to get cute.
I've already stated why he's a good GM in 2015. Not really fair to hold the TMac/Yao era against him and we're only 1 full year with the Harden/Howard core.
Don't try to bait me into another long and useless debate on that.

I don't think many players could score 11 PPG on 72% shooting with 5 offensive rebounds though. It's hard to be able to dunk and rebound THAT well. DeAndre is having a really impressive year on paper at least.

He's been really good for that team this year. He's playing in his role so much better than he ever has before. It's like he's finally accepted who he is, what his limitations are, what his REAL strengths are, and is working on abusing those facts.
He's been so good for the clippers on D too this year. Not "cheating on defense to try and leak out on a fast break for an alley oop dunk every play" has seen them finish so many more defensive possessions.
Is it just contract year efffort? that's the big question.
He's definitely a max player though, in spite of his limitations.
Strikes me as a good locker room guy too.

Wondering why DJ's on/off defrtng numbers aren't good. His offensive numbers are really good though, due to the efficiency, right?

I'm not interested in that. But saying "he'll ultimately be judged on the success of this core" and "he's good even though this core hasn't succeeded" are two contradictory statements that exist when you're a homer.
DJ doesn't take stupid jump-shots, which is why his FG% is so high. He knows he's a dunk/layup /tip-shot guy and he doesn't try to play outside himself. I've been singing his praises all year, but Blake's absence has finally made others start to notice it as well. Despite CP3 and especially Blake having off years and the bench being significantly worse, he has carried this team to the point where the 3 seed is definitely feasible. I still can't believe Chris Paul hasn't gotten hurt, though. I can't imagine us winning a single game without him because of the huge hole at PG. I figured he'd have been hurt by now as he has been every single season he's been with us, which is why I thought we weren't going to make the playoffs. As awful as Spencer Hawes is, losing Blake for a few weeks turned out to be a lot less of a problem than originally thought.

You can root for your team just fine, but when you're engaging in conversations about rankings and lists and greatness - try to take your homer hat off.
No Laker fans out here saying Eldon Campbell was a great basketball player.

I'm not nearly as much of a Homer about the Lakers as some of you think. I'm more of a basketball purist than anything. Probably my biggest homer argument is Kobe > TD and I acknowledge that TD > Kobe is a totally viable argument. I just prefer smalls over bigs. And scorers over passers. It's why I think Jordan > Magic and Jordan > Kareem.
Like. I'm not out here arguing that Riley > Pop or anything like that...

By RBKBy psychintellectWhen you say healthy, do you mean Orlando Dwight or Houston Dwight last year?Last season. Orlando Howard is never coming back plus he's been too inconsistent this season.
I wouldn't put him above Gasol or Noah for the past 3 seasons. Or Duncan.
Already made my statement on Duncan. Noah is nowhere near the complete player Howard is and while Gasol is pretty close, he doesn't overall impact a game as much as Howard does.
lol
