I think the article's right, their team is fucking mess.. even if you tanking there's should've effort for developing promising youngster skillset with proper roster, surround MCW with shooter for example, give him stretch 4.. as it stand Hinkie not even setting the team other than for getting draft pick.
I'm not about to cape for Hinkie but that article was trash. He spent most of it hedging his bets on some "This plan is dumb but it could work..but it is also dumb...Hinkies not dumb tho..but his plan is..and and" like he was writing himself an out if by the grace of god it does work he doesn't look like an idiot. His biggest issue is that Sixers fans are too overzealous about defending Hinkie's honor (and I agree)...A lot of fanbases will.
As for the above, ehhh. I don't think MCW is the guy you build around..so tailoring the roster for his benefit isn't something I was big on anyway...stretch fours that aren't ass also don't just grow on trees.
This year was borked the moment we took Embiid..he is the centerpiece and if there is any defense of the MCW trade is that his game does not fit exactly with a dump it in the post type offense...so they bailed on him FOR Embiid. Luckily no one after Embiid that we would have taken is beasting (Exum, Randle , Gordon or Vonleh) so I'm not overly upset about that but yeah the moment Embiid was the selection meant any actual team building wasn't going to happen. I was okay with that because it makes sense.
Hinkie has one more year from me and at this point I cannot defend nor can I with any confidence say what he is doing is wrong...not yet. I think it can backfire hard as fuck and I think it can set us back forever but I don't know that with any confidence. TBF every player he has drafted that has played so far has been solid. MCW, flawed as hell, has a place in this league. KJ, who has a lot to work on, has tangible NBA skills. Grant has been a surprise. And Noel has stopped being a little bitch lately and actually looking like the guy Faze and IWMTB hyped up (still not the second coming of Christ tho..)..so while I am not overly happy with everything and my general negativity around Philly Sports and things working out..I can't legit say any move he has made so far is factually a bad move...not yet. And until he does I can give him the benefit of the doubt.. It isn't a David Khan situation in which he picked Johnny Flynn over Steph Curry (sorry Rodeo) and we knew right away that he fucked it all up.
i'm also not praising Hinkie as GM Jesus either...dude is a bit too cold for my liking. Thus like I said he has one more year from me...if by this time next year he has just traded Noel and is on some "oh wait for Jaylen Brown brehs" shit...then I'm done.

Honestly 2 of those 3 players you lost made you better by subtraction... and Ariza was the perfect fit to replace Parsons... Not getting Melo nor Bosh stung but be able to pick up Smith for damn near nothing sort of makes up for considering...
