I'm not going to lie...I am on the Exum bandwagon hard. Mainly because I was (and still am) scared shitless of Embiid's injury status. Him not being great as of right now is ironically making me feel better about that pick.
Like DY also said...Exum's struggles is making me scared of Mudiay a bit. MCW dying in Milwaukee also isn't a good look for the tall guards who can shoot but it is okay because they kinda can play the PG spot.
Your PG can't be the guy you don't have to guard...it makes it harder to set people up if no one has to worry about you getting yours.

Especially if your PG isn't actually a PG. Rondo was able to run the Celtics, Rubio the Wolves, Kidd a bunch of teams even though they couldn't shoot. They were and are actual real PG's. They know how to manage a game. Have otherworldly court vision and passing accuracy. Can mentally keep track of who's hot, who's guarding who, which mismatches to exploit how. They can direct traffic, they know which offensive sequences to use against which defenders and setups. They could manage the pace and the flow of the game exactly where they want it and they don't tend to make mental mistakes.
They're not just guys that can run the pick and roll kind of sort of ok.

This too. Rondo and Rubio also can get in the paint at will too which does force the defense to care somewhat too.
Like I am tying my hardest not to diss MCW for karma reasons but when Ish Smith is running the exact same team better than you and your arrival with the Bucks has coexisted with them falling apart...you need to start looking inward

With a collapse lung he will be out longer than a week. Depending on the severity of the injury he might be done for the season.

Maybe, still have a month before the playoffs, think he'll be back before then.

KD and AD has me shook for Embiid (same injury as KD) and Noel (same frail as body as AD...he has been more durable than I expected tho).

Anyone here a runner? Trying to increase my endurance significantly for pickup games this spring/summer. I've got good shoes and grabbed some cheap ankle sleeves but I still get pain and discomfort in my shins/ankles during long runs. Its not a problem with the interval movements of basketball, but I really hate that the only thing that holds me back from enjoying running is the physical pain I'm dealing with.

I'd recommend going to a shoe store that really knows running, because your weight, body type and running style can really affect the types of shoes you need. One in my area even had me run on a treadmill and videotaped my gait to find the right shoes.
I've dealt with shin splints before and know how frustrating they can be. Hopefully you get it sorted out.

I'm not a runner. But I had a couple car accidents in a short span that caused a lot of back pain when I would run on the treadmill/cement. I use the elliptical/cycling machine now. Obviously reduces impact based stress and still works on endurance.
Honestly though, you might be better off doing basketball related drills. Defensive slides. Backboard touches. Suicides.

When I was working out I did sprints rather than running. Would probably be better for sports conditioning as well.

Do you think people understand what kind of a sacrifice it is for someone like him [Iguoudala] or yourself to accept lesser roles?
It is what it is. And that's drilled into the fans, with fantasy games and fantasy points and it's all about numbers and averages. I mean, at this point in my career, I'm more about letters and they start with W. So, I think it's a fine line and some guys can't handle that. There are guys who would rather average 20 on a bad team than average 10 on a good team. And that's just the reality of the NBA. I really don't care. I know my role on this team and why we're winning and the things I'm doing. And I think Andre does too. I think we've come to realize that, hey, it was cool averaging 16, 17, 18 points a game and get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs or not even make it to the playoffs, but it's much cooler to have a chance to compete for a championship.
How do people react when you — a 7-foot professional athlete — say that you were bullied when you were a kid?
People just brush it off. I mean, it's the same as when I come over here and I tell people that I'm from a poor area in Australia. People in the NBA laugh it off and say, ‘You know, you're a big white guy from Australia, you can't be poor.' I didn't grow up in a prestigious, beautiful area in Australia. It was a lower, working-class suburb that was rough-and-tough, had a lot of crime. With the bullying, it's the same thing. People see you now and you're 7-foot and 265 and say, “That's impossible.” But I wasn't always 7-foot. I was 6-8 and probably 195 and I was in seventh grade and kids in 10th and 11th thought I was older than I was and were going after me. I had to kind of stick up for myself. So it helped my journey to where I am today and I wouldn't change it for the world, but at the same time, as a kid going through adolescence, it was kind of hard to understand and hard to comprehend.

No. Do not stretch. You stretch after a run not before. Stretching contacts your muscles. It makes it harder to run.
You want to warm up before a run. Jog. Butt kicks. Etc.
I never had shin splints but I know they such. Had plantar fascists from basketball that made my running awful.
2 things. Get your shoes at least a 1/2 size too big. Your feet swell during long runs so you need the space when it happens. Second, get arch supports, especially if you have high or low arches. I got custom soles at road runner and it was a huge difference in my feet. Worth the $80. I also use them for playing ball in.
My girl has an ankle issue since she was a kid. She uses kinsio tape on long runs and swears by it.
Also hydrate well before the run. I like eating a banana too. I find the potassium helps.
Edit: long runs so help with stamina for Bball I've found. So has working out which I just started over a month ago. think I'm finally gonna play next week again. Fucking ankle Sprain still not fully healed.

That franchise has a history of doing that stuff. It's part of managements general panic. TBH, they need to get people in place who have more out look than just their own interests.

Its not a problem with the interval movements of basketball, but I really hate that the only thing that holds me back from enjoying running is the physical pain I'm dealing with.If you've got genuine achilles soreness that lasts after the fact, and it's sharp, you could have just done achilles damage. Not torn it or anything, but a trip to a sports doc and a referral for an ultrasound can clear that up very quickly. But don't mess with your achilles, damage there can take a long time to heal.
Shins can be a multiple of things, depending on where the pain is, when it starts, how long it lasts, and what type of pain.
By KingGondoMake sure you stretch well before runs, and even if your shoes are "nice" they might not be right for you.
I'd recommend going to a shoe store that really knows running, because your weight, body type and running style can really affect the types of shoes you need. One in my area even had me run on a treadmill and videotaped my gait to find the right shoes.
This is true, but most people can ID 99% of this based on their old sports shoes and thinking about your stride when you run. If you wear out the inside/outside of a shoe first, heal/fore foot, and how you land (forefoot, all at once, or more heel).
By MambaNo. Do not stretch. You stretch after a run not before. Stretching contacts your muscles. It makes it harder to run.
Partially true.
Static stretching that is done poorly does this. All stretching "tears" the muscle slightly. In reaction, the muscle, if it feels like it was abuse, tightens up afterwards to try and heal those tears. Over a long period of time, static stretching does enough good that it does increase your flexibility. And if you know how to do it properly (hold it, no bouncing, staying warm amongst others) can be good.
In general for people who don't know enough about stretching and how it works, you're better off looking into active stretching. Active stretching is doing like leg lifts, or straight leg kicks multiple times in a row, or heel flicks up to your ass. The idea being that the muscle doesn't see this as abuse, just normal active motion, and so doesn't react by contracting harshly to repair the damage.
Both are a massive point of contention though, and are a source of further study. General consensus is a combination is good, but "warm into" a stretching routine. i.e. static is fine, as long as you build up through it, you don't try and go for your max range at the start.
My girl has an ankle issue since she was a kid. She uses kinsio tape on long runs and swears by it.Again, ankle issues are real, get them checked out properly. I made a mess of my achillies but all it took to heal up was 4 weeks of intense lower leg stuff and I've not had the problem since.
Also hydrate well before the run. I like eating a banana too. I find the potassium helps.
And don't over hydrate. Over hydration is a real thing and kills people who do long distance running. Just be sensible, listen to your body.
