By MambaCollege ball is worse than watching pickup these days.Yeah, that super long shot clock is a killer. I could maybe get into it if the pace of play was better, but there's still that problem where most of the players suck.
They really need to reduce the shot clock and extend the three point line.
Exum has been really bad on offense. His defense won't matter if it doesn't improve a lot.

By diehardBy VahagnNo one's suggesting he won't improve. But if you're going to tell me you thought he'd be THIS bad, I'd call bullshit. So far, he's a bust. The difference between where he's at now, and a guy that can get you 15/5/7 as your PG is a long long long ways away. And even if he EVER gets there, the PG position is so stacked, he still wouldn't crack the top half of PG's.I didn't expect him to be this good on defense, and i didn't expect him to have a decent set-shot.
But no i expected him to be like most rookies and be over-agressive. He is passive as fuck. He let missed shots totally effect the way he played. In Summer League he at least showed his first step a few times… but now he is in "Uhh Hayward is better than me, i'll just give the ball to him" mode.
College Ball for me is not that bad, BYU plays at a ridiculous pace and is fun to watch.
I thought he'd be this good defensively. I thought he'd be about as good as Rubio, and I said as much. And I STILL thought he was a bust and the "franchise cornerstone" labels were pure absurdity.
That's how bad his offensive game is to me. It's horrendous.

Some clown wrote an article that said that using certain analytics (I forget which) Payton is rookie of the year over Wiggins. Didn't even bother reading it. X'd the window and moved on. That's the kind of shit, that, to a sane person, would make them question the value of the stats being used. To that writer, he just kept faith like a blind believer in the easter bunny.
Payton is awful offensively (also has Exum's "if I take a shot I might die" disease...although with Exum it may be because he thinks Snyder will kill him) but kid's defense is gdlk. He was like a one man press the few games against us. Smart too.
Its weird that this point guard class is full of dudes who actually want to fit in instead of giving no fucks and chucking to their hearts content.
Its weird that this point guard class is full of dudes who actually want to fit in instead of giving no fucks and chucking to their hearts content.
I don't know what Exum's psychological problem is. But his problem isn't psychological. He just has no offensive tools. He has physical tools and IQ - but no actual skills. The dude isn't a better natural PG than...fuck, anyone. He can't score. He's a 65% FT shooter. FFS when's the last time there was an elite guard that shot that bad on FT's. He has absolutely no jump shot, not just in terms of ability to make it, but in terms of mechanics. Not even the slightest semblance of a back to the basket game.
He can't shoot, he can't post up, his only avenue for offense is getting to the basket, and when fouled, can't hit his FT's. It's bad. Really, really, bad.

By MambaDurant' timetable being pushed back. Just shut it down. He's as good as done for the season.
Fucking sucks. Has only played in 27 games this season.
Uhm, playoffs are 3 weeks away. Are they basically saying he's back in two weeks with one week to get into game shape?
By reiloUhm, playoffs are 3 weeks away. Are they basically saying he's back in two weeks with one week to get into game shape? No, Presti just said he's out "indefinitely."
He's done for this season.
He shoots a higher 3PT % than Hayward did last year. He shoots 65% from the line because he never gets there. Hell, two more makes and he is probably in the 70's.
You are always ragging on stats-only guys and yet are becoming one yourself. Saying he has no tools is .. dumb.

They're taking him off all basketball activities. Said no progress in foot. He's done
You have to shut him down for the season. There's nothing to be gained from bringing him back and shortening his career. The team isn't good enough to win it all this season, especially from the 8th seed. OKC just isn't making it to the Finals without HCA.

Lol using FT% doesn't make me a stats only guy. He didn't shoot FT's at a high clip in Australia either. He's just a piss poor shooter. His set shot is kinda sorta decent, but you can't be elite in this league shooting set shots. Especially as a ball handling guard.
I'm talking purely physical offensive skills. I said all along, his ceiling seems to be Rubio and Rondo without the otherworldly natural playmaking instincts. They're both good defenders that can't shoot or score. But taking away their single biggest skill is not a package you want with the 5th overall pick.

I'd rather miss the playoffs at this point. Get a lotto pick and we'll have a chance at another good young player.
Doubt we miss it though considering the injuries the Pels are battling through.
By Adam BladePoor KingDongo. Jones fractures do tend to heal pretty well. The first screw inserted into his foot was causing "soreness" so they went in a couple weeks ago and replaced it. Last week it looked like he was progressing well, but he was held out of practice again yesterday because of continued soreness.

They tend to heal pretty well when you don't rush back from injury and you know, actually let the foot heal, no? His timeline was 10-12 weeks, he came back in 8 and immediately played 29, 29, 29, 29, and 30 minutes in his first 5 games back. Then he took 5 more games off at the end of December and when he came back he played 39, 31, 32, 36, 40 and 38 minutes.
Complete mismanagement.

That 10 to 12 weeks figure was bullshit. It's 3-4 months recovery time. 12-16 weeks. I posted a link a few pages back. They brought him back in about 6 weeks when they should have kept him out AT LEAST twice as long.
Presti seriously fucked up. And if this lingers, fuck.

Well yeah but you could make that case with most of his players.
By reiloKevin Pritchard was fired for making the wrong pick. I feel like this is a worse offense.
I still can't believe Olshey nailed the Lillard pick. At the time, everyone was shocked he picked him that early. After resurrecting the Clippers and the Blazers in like 5 years time. Olshey gets at least a few fuckups before any criticism is sent his way.
Well, it seems like the Jones fracture isnt in trouble, its just the pain and soreness in his foot. Hopefully this means he can heal up back to 100%.
I feel your pain Gondo. I had my hopes up as well after the trade deadline for Miami, then Bosh is done.
Really sucks.

Sam Presti and his group are arguably more valuable than Durant though. Brooks should go though.
So basically the narrative going into his contract year is that Westbrook enjoys his first option role quite a.bit.

At least my hopes were already suitably low considering the Ibaka injury (and the fact that I realize how damn good the Dubs are unlike many Thunder fans).

The best thing for okc to do is miss the playoffs. Even if they made it guys will not be healthy and things could get worse. Then come back strong next season.

They should investigate that medical staff too. Maybe it's not on them but their big 3 have been injured and 2 of them have come back earlier than they should've. Lil shady over there.
Well, I think Anderson did the surgery down at OrthoCarolina, and he's one of the top foot guys. Generally after that, Durant shouldn't have returned until at least 8 weeks, and being pain-free. As to who officially cleared him to play, I'm not sure. Anderson vs. Blunder team docs? I dunno.
At any rate, I believe he had to have his screw taken out due to impingement onto his cuboid, but that's not too uncommon iirc.
As for him being shut down for the rest of the season, I wonder.

By ratcliffjaYeah Mirotic really deserves ROTY but I think Wiggins has it in the bag.
We gonna get bounced in the first round again?
I like Mirotic but he's played half the minutes of Wiggins and his shooting numbers don't really blow anyone away.
By Adam BladeMaybe. We can definitely beat Houston or Portland, but either series could go either way. I like us against Portland the most, but playing at the Rose Garden is never easy and we wouldn't have home court advantage in that series. I think a lot of our success depends on how aggressive Blake gets in the postseason and how healthy Jamal is. An aggressive Blake and healthy Jamal could get us to the WCF, but that's unfortunately not very likely.By ratcliffjaYeah Mirotic really deserves ROTY but I think Wiggins has it in the bag.

Edit: Mirotic has staked out a big claim in minutes by the end of the year on a playoff team with a loaded frontcourt and a coach that loves to overplay his starters. I think that speaks a lot.
