By Wengward Go To PostSure, but wages are the issue.
Unless people don't believe that. I imagine most don't, but for me, there is enough evidence.
If it was really about the wage bill, the club could've cleared out at least some deadwood by partially subsidizing their wages if they wanted to I think. We already know the squad is too big.
I think it's easier for the club to just stand pat passively than take a risk.
By Wengward Go To PostSure, but wages are the issue. We've just cleared up £300K worth of wages. Not to mention, even with the supposed limitations, we have about £180K to offer. Enough for someone like Lemar.

By Wengward Go To PostOf all our transfer fuckups I don't think this one is that bad honestly.I don't think it's a fuck up at all. He's still only 21 and already a tremendous player.
He is a player we have wanted all summer. We couldn't afford him unless we sold Sanchez. We had to wait for City to offer an acceptable amount for City.
3 hours before a game probably isn't enough time to agree to terms and do a medical.
But it remains to be seen if Arsenal under Wenger is right for his development...
By Mangoverboard Go To PostWonder if we'll go 70-75 now and Arsenal take itIt's impossible to land Lemar.
They're not selling Sanchez.
It's over for now.
Offer him £300k in January.
By Kidjr Go To PostI dont think our issues is money as much as wages. There is a wage cap that we're close (average commercial deals + lack of CL ) so can only increase wages by x amount on a yearly basis or something like that
We need to get creative with our signings,
Pay Lemar 20k a week.
Then have him be the voice of 'Man hunts Gorilla' on Kroenkill Tv for 200k
Are PSG shook about completing this Mbappe deal? Pretty much confirmed unofficially with the amount of decent sources reporting on it.

Players have to agree to move. I don't think they are going to get so desperate as to subsidize wages. Sets a bad precedent.
By Pele.gif Go To PostI like Rabiot
I think he was actually the weak link in the PSG midfield but wateva
By Esch Go To PostOh the sadtale we weave
Wenger is in France to do commentary for the France game like he is every summer.
Thought Rabiot was good now.
By Laboured Go To PostThink PSG is going to be made a cautionary tale.
only if Qatar lose the world cup, which seems less likely with every passing day

Time to see what Ornstein says.
By KP Go To PostDid Liverpool really not have a back up plan for VVD?We don't. It's VVD or nothing. Klopp says he's happy with his current CB options, but I doubt he was telling the truth.
Banter if they don't sign a CB.
By Meier Go To Postmy guess, they will talk to Sanchez about contract renewal and he will refuse and they sell
That 175m disappeared quick.
By Wengward Go To PostTime to see what Ornstein says.Yep. Surprised he's been quiet since this fee was supposedly agreed 3hrs ago.
If city were serious about getting Sanchez then why not bid sooner. These clubs could learn a few things from psg
Arsenal are to blame also because surely they knew a bid was coming and should have planned for it.
But why did City leave it so late?

Calum Chambers
By Elchele Go To PostAmazing how Leverkusen are just quitting football. Leipzig making their squad even better
Needed the money to completed record transfer fee:
When was the last time a player urged to move to another team who are considered a domestic rival in the PL, where its clear they want to go, but ends up staying? Heinz to Liverpool?
But if he stays I cant say Arsenal fans really treating him poorly.

Sounds like we will get Andre Gomes on loan and Barkley will have to wait until The January, unless Chelsea buy him now. I don't know anything about him.
By Wengward Go To PostSanchez staying is the best thing for the league. Not really.
City would walk it with Sanchez.
Not with how City currently plays.

It's totally disingenuous for these journalists to act like City have "left it late" for Sanchez. City have been trying to get him all summer, clearly. Arsene and Arsenal have just been entirely adamant he isn't leaving -- it's not like you can make something happen. What's the point in placing a bid if the team say they won't sell?
Probably a bit like Danilo at Madrid -- a good, capable player who didn't reach expectations.

Doesn't seem like it. After years of searching, Levy has finally found a player he can't sell.

To get them to change their mind?
Many players have to peform, WC2018 next summer.
But makes sense City didn't want to pay over the odds for a player with one season remaining on his contract.

By Xpike Go To PostDon't think Sanchez will care about performing if he staysyap, matches where they are already behind or are struggling could see him not put the extra effort
By Fergie Go To PostWa pretty obvious briefed bullshit that we'd be willing to spend that much without selling Coutinho. If we actually thought we could get Coutinh sold, and Lemar & VVD in on the last day, with Lemar and Coutinho being away on international duty, with Lemar playing tonight, we're a bit naive.
That 175m disappeared quick.
Yep. Surprised he's been quiet since this fee was supposedly agreed 3hrs ago.
Hoped we'd get Lemar in, reckon we might have done as well if we hadn't just spent so much on Ox.
Not a good window imo. Have high hopes for Salah and Keita, but the latter won't arrive til next year, we've failed to adress the centreback issue, and bought in a poor option for the midfield depth we needed. I can forgive us cheaping out at leftback since there seemed to be so few good options out there.
Absolutely vital that we stand firm on Coutinho now

Why did you bid today?'
Don't be so naive.
