bloody hell. The song did it.
By Meier Go To PostKicker says €7m for Sancho. We better have a sell-on though.. that is way more important than whatever pittance we get up front. I think he will be a £40-50m player in 2 seasons at most. The only reason we're paying a fee instead of the training compensation is, that we didn't want to wait until the verdict of his contract termination went through.

That's why the reports about him going on strike/missing the training are false.
By Grizzled Cola Go To PostBut what if they buy Lemar AND Keep Sanchez#nomoney
I'm okay with them getting Lemar if that means Liverpool don't.
By inky Go To PostSilva was £60m #full amount. Lemar for £90m+ is mad (from what I've seen anyway).
And Pogba was exactly the kind of player the team needed. Yes it was about making a statement in different fronts, but he has made the team better on the pitch and he's worth the money. Don't know what Shanks is about. 90% of his transfer was about his footballing ability first.
I have to agree. You'll get some Belgian 17y/o for £10m or something.
In the modern game the most important player is a CM who dictates a game.
United should have been finding a Carrick replacement instead of signing a player who excels only when he plays with with a Carrick like player.
He made them better? United scored less goals, got less points, and finished a position worse than the year before.
I love Pogba, but he ain't the player you sign in United's circumstance last year.
Hopefully it will be a similar clause to what Rennes got Dembele (20 or 25%? Something like that).
By Pennywise Go To PostThat's why the reports about him going on strike/missing the training are false. That obviously flies in the face of what every source from City actually said -- they all claimed that he refused to train and was inaccessible when City made efforts to contact him. All a bit moot at this point as he's gone but this is very unlikely to be true.
Reports say Arsenal rejected a 20 mil bid from Leicester. They're probably waiting for a 12 mil bid.
By Diego! Go To PostCan you really imagine Arsene "FFP" Wenger dropping £90m on one player?
Arsenal can drop 90 mill and still be well within FFP.
Try again soon.
By batong Go To PostWhat about the Liverpool staff at the grounds. Did we have time to do a medical, Dr GQ?Yes
Of course not. A £100m physical would take at least a few hours if you're being responsible.
By Fergie Go To PostLol
The objective was back in the champions league and Pogba was instrumental in that. The league was crap and it wasn't solely down to Pogba, Mou bears a lot of burden in not using him properly for half a season and other mishaps. There's still a general lack of quality in several positions in the team (2 have been addressed this window) but he performed in Europa and got us there.
Registas don't grow on trees and replacing Carrick is still a big thing.

Dunc says that Monaco and Arsenal reached an agreement 3 hours ago. Maybe there's still a chance. I guess we'll see. I'm not too bothered either way but would of course be over the moon if we signed Alexis.
By Perfect Blue Go To Post
GET IN!
Now sign Drinkwater....and Albrighton cause he can play wing back.
By Cleff Go To Post
We are going to be treated to at least another 4 months of Sanchez looking glum as Welbeck runs past another one of his throughballs.
Think it would be better for Sanchez to sign a pre-contract in Jan. Huge signing bonus and wage plus more bevy of clubs interested.
By Meier Go To PostI've just taken a look and it looks like Kicker reported shit, since the contract wasn't actually terminated and everything was still pending.

You were right. Whatever, you got alot more cash than you would have gotten normally :P
Now let's wait and see how he will integrate into the team.

Exactly, that is why you go out of your way to sign one instead of breaking the transfer record on a player whose skill set can be replicated by a host of players.
Tony Martial came from France,
English press said he had no chance,
50 million down the drain,
As Tony martial scores again!

Who's the last player of Sanchez's quality/reputation to run down their contract to become a free agent?
Would be amazing if Woodward has a surprise deal going but most likely it's over till Jan/Summer.
By jtb Go To PostWho's the last player of Sanchez's quality/reputation to run down their contract to become a free agent?Lewandowski?
Of all our transfer fuckups I don't think this one is that bad honestly.
He is a player we have wanted all summer. We couldn't afford him unless we sold Sanchez. We had to wait for City to offer an acceptable amount for City.
3 hours before a game probably isn't enough time to agree to terms and do a medical.

Ah of course, yup.

The number 1 rule in football is you don't make a bid unless you know the player wants to come.
So that either means this whole Lemar thing is bullshit, or we still haven't learnt how to do business.

By Wengward Go To PostOf all our transfer fuckups I don't think this one is that bad honestly.I dont agree. Of course we could have afforded him without selling Sanchez. Our netspend would have only been £70m for the window. Totally within our budget.

By Elchele Go To PostAmazing how Leverkusen are just quitting football. Leipzig making their squad even betterNeverkusen just didn't want to have a crybaby like Kampl anymore.
By Cleff Go To PostPoor John
And then they didn't because they couldn't get a replacement.
Plenty of people thought they'd still sell even if they couldn't get a replacement.

Sure, but wages are the issue.
Unless people don't believe that. I imagine most don't, but for me, there is enough evidence.
92m for lemar is bat shit insane but if i was lemar why the fuck would i go arsenal even if they offered stupid wages

I dont think our issues is money as much as wages. There is a wage cap that we're close (average commercial deals + lack of CL ) so can only increase wages by x amount on a yearly basis or something like that
