By Wengward Go To PostTransfer muppetry, lads!
By Barzul Go To PostCash for what? What's the point, I don't trust Wenger will spend it and even if he did I don't believe it wouldn't be spent poorly. If we're not doing a part-exchange, I'd rather just keep Alexis.
Not interested in players who don't want to play for Arsenal.
And not sure why you are deluding yourself into believing Kroenke will sack Wenger. Not happening. Enjoy the next two seasons.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI asked earlier to Milan fans, how good is the boy Patrick gonna be? Only seen his goals, so don't know his overall play level. It's hard to say really, I don't remember anything about him but his goals. He is a very good finisher and his positional sense is great. He isn't slow, but not terribly fast either. Haven't seen him dribble and he seems strong.
I have seriously no idea, 4 goals in 6 games is awesome though.
By Wengward Go To PostNot interested in players who don't want to play for Arsenal. You should bin your entire squad in that case.
By Kidjr Go To PostGood for who? a premier league club, yeah sure.
But everything from his touch, spatial awareness, passing, dribbling, strength (lack of) is not what you would require from someone who has been our main RWF for the past 10 years.
And despite all of that, he's consistently been one of the most productive wing players in the league year in and year out. I used to be a huge Theo skeptic but eventually I just set aside the eye-test and concluded that his strengths clearly help the team more than his weaknesses hurt it.

I will take my Totti any way I can these days.

fine by me
no more of this "english core" garbage either
By jtb Go To PostTheo is good. I'll never understand why Arsenal fans hate him so much (while simultaneously giving his would-be replacement Ox a pass for being garbage his entire Arsenal career)
Both are not good enough.

By Scum Go To PostI still find it astounding that a player like Walcott, hanging around sensational lads like Henry, still never picked up anything. But then I remember that he's English…
Alan Hansen was always right about Theo lacking a footballing brain.
He is instinctive, but slow the game down and it gets away from him.
Would be delighted to land VVD or Lemar if we keep Coutinho, VVD would obviously be filling a big hole in the squad though so I'd probably prefer him even if it was less exciting.
As surprising and great as the Naby signing was, it doesn't help us this season. Watching us these last two games makes me think we're in for plenty of great results this year, get VVD in though and we can turn it into a great season in total.
Get both in, and we'd be laughing.

By Wengward Go To PostNot interested in players who don't want to play for Arsenal. That'd probably be most of the squad then. Next summer is probably even worse considering the current state of contracts. They don't want to play for Arsenal under Wenger. And I'd rather have an unmotivated Sanchez than 60m sitting in a bank, WC year might mean he puts in a shift.
And not sure why you are deluding yourself into believing Kroenke will sack Wenger. Not happening. Enjoy the next two seasons.
Arsenal is leveraged asset for Kroenke, the company that owns us is incorporated in Delaware, he's defo stashing some debt against the club. We're only useful if we can maintain our strong valuation, Wenger will only further devalue the club this season.
It's OK to have a difference in opinion I guess.
By Wengward Go To PostIncredible to see Jonny Evans so coveted.
Should have sold Smalling.
By Cleff Go To Post"Plz stay, Eden"I'm sure someone saw 'Kylian' and their heart skipped a beat.
Bought F1 on PS4. Classic cars are pretty fun. Will start the career mode tomorrow.

Don't think being a WC year has anything to do with how players like Sanchez perform. He's not fighting for a spot, he's THE star. and would be picked even if he didn't play all year.
WC year is an incentive for players who are competing for contested spots and aren't regulars at their team.

I actually think Arsenal hold a surprising amount of leverage in the Sanchez contract thing, not that they would use it. His next contract will be his last big guaranteed payday. Wenger can just overplay Sanchez until his body breaks down (particularly dangerous in a world cup year), and he will never be the same player ever again - and would not necessarily have a guaranteed contract to fall back upon
Celta dropping the cash on Emre Mor... Which BTW, whatever happened with him? Heard he's got a really shitty attitude?

Going to bin you first.

How do you overplay him?
Mustafi, Ox, Sanchez etc would all perform better under a new manager who could reinvigorate the club. Selling them off and bringing in lesser players, with Wenger still at the helm, doesn't make sense. What is the aim for the season then?
By Wengward Go To PostHow do you overplay him?
Never let him rest, play him 90 minutes every weekend + every midweek game. If he's a 50-50 to play (some mild hamstring issue or something), then play him anyways. Rush him back from injuries, etc. etc.
Honestly, Wenger would do this without even realizing it anyways. I feel like this stuff is pretty par for the course in sport and players don't really have any form of recourse

That is just nasty. Why would you want to intentionally hurt someone because they don't want to play for you.
(I'm not advocating this, but 1. football is corrupt and terrible, and 2. the odds of this happening anyways are probably higher than all parties would like to admit)
It happens all the time. I'm not saying Arsenal should do it, I'm saying it's a risk that gives Arsenal leverage.

B) it wouldn't work anyway since the player could just put in no effort, stroll about the pitch and in that way both protect himself and screw the club that is effectively playing with 10 men

He has a two year deal. Ox Sanchez and ozil are gone next summer.
The aim of this season is to not implode.

This is gross.
I would rather see youth players or less talented players play, as long as they show heart when they wear the shirt. I understand the politics of getting new contracts, but if a player really wants to leave then just let them.
Put another way: Wenger overplays his players anyways, and has no incentive to protect Sanchez's body. If he's ever a 50/50 for a game, why would he ever not gamble on his fitness? He did it with players like RVP and Fabregas all the time. It's a classic case of moral hazard.
Same thing happens every time a baseball team wears out a pitcher's arm on a half-season rental.
Football is gross. I hate the fact that players have no form of protection or recourse against this stuff. And as much as I'd love to believe that managers look out for the best interest of their players, we all know that's not true. How many times do managers feud and scapegoat their medical staff over things like concussions? Managers don't give a fuck about their players.

Happy to give him back to Pep.
Anyone but liverpool tbh
I would rather see Chelsea. I hate the idea that a club can make so many poor decisions and just spend more money to correct them and then get to win the league.
I am not a big fan of RM, but at least now they actually look like they are team building and thinking about the future.

No, what you are advocating is very different.
But now you are changing it to "well Wenger already does this"

Taking a chance on a player is one thing when both parties agree, intentionally running them into the ground so that they injure themselves is another.

Fucking lol. We're bidding money + Sanchez for Sterling according to Sky.
I'd rather see Chelsea win it again. I like Conte and what he's brought to the English game. Revitalizing players like Moses and Alonso. Ever since Mourinho left, I no longer feel the level of animosity towards the team I once had.
