One of the best deals in recent history, IMO. Also signed Hazard, Oscar, and Moses that window. Damn.
August 24, 2012
Chelsea have completed the signing of Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille for an initial fee of £6.5m.
Right-back Azpilicueta, 22, started his career with Osasuna and has represented Spain at various youth levels and played at the Olympics this summer.
He missed Marseille's Europa League qualifier against FC Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday as he travelled to London to complete the deal.
Chelsea have not revealed the length of the contract for Azpilicueta.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostOne of the best deals in recent history, IMO.Kante for me. Sign him for 5.6m in the summer, win the title and sell him for 30m the following summer.
By Oddinho Go To PostBlame lies squarely at the feet of Mike Ashley, and all Newcastle fans know this. If he fires Benitez he'll probably be murdered. He already failed to negotiate deals for Rafa's top targets Maguire and Abraham, others as well. If Benitez goes it's more likely that he walks.
Benitez has spent £95m since he has been at Newcastle. He's been backed.
He also cannot resign without paying Newcastle a substantial fee, if The Times are to be believed.
Not to suck my own dick (if only), but it was incredibly obvious what was going to happen once Newcastle spunked £60m+ last season on building the most short-sighted squad in living memory. Crap players on high wages, impossible to shift them and thusly impossible to rebuild the squad for the second summer in a row.
Kicker having some new details.
Zorc our manager is driving with our CEO to the CL draw tomorrow. His first time doing that, despite being in the job for 20 years now. So most likely they got a meeting with the Barca folks.
Barca made an improved offer, but only slightly. However they won't budge on the price and are asking for about 140-150m € (about 130m as fee and the rest as bonus payments, not the Liverpool way though). Our CEO Watzke said they only got time until Sunday, they shouldn't even bother to offer anything less.
Weeeew.

And so ends the Dembele dream.
Hopefully a new desirable Dembs shows up soon. Everyone should have a Dembele in their team.

Offloading Oscar for £60m will never be topped though.
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostMan, Facebook used to be kind of cool when you needed a University account to access it - Your wall was a legit wall.

GCSE results in boys. Better than I expected, especially in the first year of the new spec. Got a few who failed or didn't do as well as expected but they're outweighed by those who smashed it. Couldn't sleep all night, been so restless. Second they were online I hopped on the comp.
Gonna sleep for an hour and then go into school; so glad I can find out before the kids haha, would be a nightmare otherwise.

Nothing better than waking up to find you have drawn Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round of the Carabao cup

CL draw today? Give me United, Barca, Atletico or PSG.
the strongest teams in Pot 3 are Italian and Pot 4 is hospital. R16 is in the bag
if we get United both of us will 100% qualify. As Pot 3 will consist of Basel, Olympiacos, Anderlecht and Besiktas.
For Zabo's sake I'm hoping we draw Maribor too

We are going to get a group of death but I'm more excited to play the bigger teams, even if we get destroyed. Last years group was really boring and hard for both players and fans to get excited about. Playing Barca at Wembley would be amazing.
By GQman2121 Go To PostI would have liked Kondogbia, but the Drinkwater's, Barkley's and Chamberlain's of the sport are exactly what Chelsea need at the moment. They're all role players right now in their careers who won't make a fuss about not starting against Palace or Watford, but will be ready with something to play for against Forest or Wolves on a Tuesday night. You just let go 10 youngsters who fit the description you mentioned to the T.
These types of players are getting harder to obtain for what we previously considered a reasonable price so I wouldn't be shocked if they did end up totalling £100m at the register. The club has the money and everyone knows it.
Here are the Champions League pots.
Pot 1: Real Madrid (ESP), Bayern München (GER), Juventus (ITA) Benfica (POR), Chelsea (ENG), Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR), Monaco (FRA), Spartak Moskva (RUS)
Pot 2: Barcelona (ESP), Atlético Madrid (ESP), Paris Saint-Germain (FRA), Borussia Dortmund (GER), Sevilla (ESP), Manchester City (ENG), Porto (POR), Manchester United (ENG)
Pot 3: Napoli (ITA), Tottenham Hotspur (ENG), Basel (SUI), Olympiacos (GRE), Anderlecht (BEL), Liverpool (ENG), Roma (ITA), Beşiktaş (TUR)
Pot 4: Celtic (SCO), CSKA Moskva (RUS), Sporting CP (POR), APOEL (CYP), Feyenoord (NED), Maribor (SVN), Qarabağ (AZE), RB Leipzig (GER)
I've bolded what I guess would be the worst teams to draw. Looks like you are better off being in pot 2 than in pot 1

Sanchez available for the Liverpool game.
This will be fun.
Also on second thoughts I think Ozil does deserve some criticism from the last game given that Arsenal had 77% of possession.

I hope Liverpool draw some good teams. I know some fans are worried about a group of death but given Liverpool's performances against the top 6 of the pl compared to the bottom 10, I'd be more worried about getting clanked by Qrapbag

Reckon you will draw Celtic and Brendan Rogers will wank jizz all over himself talking about how big an occasion it is
this is probably the most amusing story that you never heard about. Serie A fans know it very well :lol
Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes got so angry at the club’s president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli that he locked him in the restroom.
“The story of me being locked in the toilet by Tiago is true,” confessed Cobolli Gigli live on Sky Italia.
The Bianconeri chief wants to send the €20m-man away, who has been considered to be one of the biggest busts of the Serie A.
“It's a shame it got out, as this was something I told a friend in confidence. In any case, Alessandro Del Piero responded to the noise of me punching the door and offered to break it down.
“I told him it was better if someone else did it, as he needed to keep his shoulders in good shape for the Fiorentina game.”
Everton, Manchester City, Benfica, and Monaco have tabled some serious bids for the Portuguese midfielder, but he rejected them all as he wants to play in the Champions League.

Cobolli Gigli. What an utter disgrace those few years after Farsopoli were.
