Southampton are weighing up a £12million move for Lazio centre back Wesley Hoedt as they prepare for Virgil van Dijk's departure.
The £60million-rated Van Dijk is due to discuss his future with the club this week after telling them he wanted to move on. He spent last week training on his own at Southampton's Staplewood training base while the team were on a pre-season trip to France.
Liverpool were warned over their approaches to Van Dijk earlier in the summer but that has not prevented the 26-year-old from voicing a desire to move to Anfield.
Could this actually happen still?

I think VVD to Liverpool was always going to happen. Southampton just didn't want to gain a reputation as a club who get pushed around by others. So it's taking longer.

Dybala's first season was explosive, as close to Messi's shadow as one mortal can get
the second season though....was like the difference between Ozark episode 1 and the rest of the season. For one reason or another (Higuain becoming the main man, change of position etc) he regressed. But still, 19 goals and 7 assists is still a pretty decent tally for someone playing behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1.
Cardiff aside, he was still there when you needed him in big games.
