We took the L? Bruh's, you're paying some 80m for Lolkaku and we keep our youngling.
and there was no talk of taking Ls anywhere - just that you overplayed your hand at the bargaining table is all.
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostThey played themselves because it is pretty clear that:Why do we need the funds to sign Mbappe? We've barely touched the bank the past 3 years. Perez must be sitting on a lot of cash atm.
they need the funds to get Mbappe,
one of their few expendable players (Morata) wants out,
no other club was coming in for him and certainly not at even half the price United were willing to put down
They are not in the strongest bargaining position - unlike Atletico were with Greaseman.
A firm and sizeable bid was on the table - now they run the risk of having a player who won't play, wants out but they can't sell and no closer to funding the Mbappe bid because they tried to molest the ONLY interested party.
That's how they played themselves - because even though they didn't need the money per se - it was 75+ million euros for a lad who is surplus to requirements - if that's not losing out I don't know what is - it's like turning down a 30 million bid for Rooney.

Liverpool have been told there is no amount of money that would prompt RB Leipzig to cave in and sell Naby Keïta this summer.
At a press conference in Germany today, Ralf Rangnick, director of football at Leipzig, again reiterated that the Guinea midfielder was not for sale and would not leave the club.

By Frustrated_me Go To PostMassive news if true, that would guarantee a James sale. It would also mean we have every member of the nucleus that makes the future Spain NT (except Saul).€40M+addons for James. It's happening lad
that Bayern-RM partnership
By Frustrated_me Go To PostWhy do we need the funds to sign Mbappe? We've barely touched the bank the past 3 years. Perez must be sitting on a lot of cash atm. Then I am doubly confused as to why you are asking for such exorbitant amounts for a benchwarmer you don't and want and who in turn wants to leave. Based on that scenario - seems like a reasonable conclusion to reach.
By domino Go To Poststolen from redcafeIndeed. What I think about Lukaku and Morata is;
they aren't the players that can win us the title, but they are the players that can get us back into the top 4.
Which is safe to say, something we need to get this year.

Probably my favourite Costa goal of last season. Poor Otamendi.
Good times.
I also enjoyed the Everton game where he sent Jagielka to a retirement home

By n8 dogg Go To PostDonnarumma; Conti, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Bonaventura; Suso, Locatelli, Calhanoglu; SilvaIndeed, can't wait to see that on the pitch. Just swap Locatelli's and Bonaventura's positions.
Proper tasty side on paper.
By Elchele Go To PostSuso will still be part of the first team?Yeah, he is really good. Has matured over the last couple of years and is more consistent these days.

Been feeling like Naby wouldn't happen for a couple of days. Since the briefings on Friday its all been a bit negative.
Ah well, not much you can do when the other club doesn't need the money in the slightest and wants to keep the player. Especially when his release clause for next summer is still significant.

By inky Go To PostOh, and it's still very possible Morata goes this window anyway. Too early to assume he's staying.I agree.

By KidA Seven Go To PostI'm going to hate Lukaku huhDepends if Pogba is injured or not.
I think he will link up well with Pogba. You know those chances Ibra missed last season? He can convert them better.
However he is much poorer on the ball than Ibra, and we will miss some of Ibra's wonderful passes and hold up play.
By Slizz Go To PostBy next summer you'll have another VVD situation on your hands.Precisely, if he has another good season there will be better clubs than us trying to sign him, which is presumably why we were willing to overpay this window.
Shame as judging by reports, he'd have been pretty transformative to the way we play. We don't have a player in the middle to carry the ball and make a quick pass to put us straight from the back foot onto the front foot, we can only do it through making a passing angle.

I've been on the Lukaku love locomotive for years.
Sounds a lot like that Chelsea-Lukaku tweet that was posted earlier. Not to say that we haven't heard similar things when City miss out on a player. Always funny though.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostThey just renewed Messi's contract for a rumored 500K a week and 50M€ sign bonus to be paid through out the next 3 years.Messi is going to bankrupt the club
If West Ham sign Hernandez instead of Iheanacho they're idiots, even if he does cost half as much and has ten times the experience.

No idea who Liverpool will sign this window since we've spent about 4 months saying that VVD and Keita were our main/only targets.
Far cry from the Echo's '£200m war chest articles'.

Honestly thought before the season ended that we'd be linked to like a dozen players, given our obvious need for numbers as well as quality. Also thought Lucas and Moreno would be gone by now. Thought Lucas was out of contract, even.
We've only really had Salah, Keita and VVD though. Every other link has basically dissipated within a day of it first emerging. Hopefully we're just keeping our cards close to our chest. If we go into a CL season with last season's squad+Salah, we're asking for trouble and completely relying on getting very lucky with injuries.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostMessi is going to bankrupt the clubSo the board members aren't actually stealing money, they are just hiding it from Messi. Heroes.

Yeah, sure.
