I'd love to see a serious take on 17th century Barbary Coast corsair piracy or just a bleaker turn on the typical Caribbean romp. I have to imagine it the dearth of good pirate movies is strongly connected to the difficulties encountered by just about every production that features significant nautical elements, but I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential there.
