GAFs favorite line: "is this the hill you want to die on" when they start with reason, face rational counter arguments, give up, and retreat behind the protection of Taboo/Disgust.
remember, 200 years ago you could have a similar argument with homosexuality:
"well, they arent hurting anybody. its just between them...."
"dude, stop with your reasons, what do you hope to gain from exploring this..."
much like the first guy was triggered from his 'disgust' reflex, when he said 'the fuck?', you are doing it too. when you get disgusted you dont want to use any more reason. this is a lot like when you confront a religious person about creationism for longer than 30 sec. when we get backed into a corner we reach outside reason, and appeals to taboo and disgust are a common option.
'commendable' is a pretty good word. like if you are born with a desire to hurt and harm ppl but dont. we pat ppl on the back for having any kind of 'disadvantage' these days; a mental disadvantage has got to be one of the hardest to struggle w/. unethical sexual attraction has to be a bummer. i feel for those ppl. not only that, but everyone around the poor genetic mutant treats them worse than murders because of their own insecurities and from an unwillingness to stay rational in the face of their own disgust.

There's a difference between people finding something taboo/disgusting it just being out wrong, that alone makes your comparison to homosexuality kinda void. I have no interest whether I find someones fetish "disgusting", I find golden shower porn disgusting but I certainly wouldnt try to stop a conversation being had about it.
And that is my point "born desires with desires that you resist", in my experience desire often wins that battle, even if you succomb once.. whether its just one image you've downloded, one preview clip thats enough to not be commendable.
The last data I saw on this topic was that about 1% of men are born that way so roughly 37,000,000 out of 3.7 billion and the others could be created by environment. Life can take you into some odd sexual fetishes over time.. It's hard to judge about who was born a certain way and who wasn't... if you like to be shat on that's on you as long as it is between two consensual adults.. The reason why it is treated like a guy who needs to kill to feel at ease is because it does that much damage to society.. comparing it to gays or anything like that would be like comparing murdering for relief to smoking pot in some states.
