By GQman2121 Go To PostI really think they're overstating and exaggerating where 4k currently stands in the market. It's a great soundbite for the psychos online who will feel empowered by the number, but breaking it down none of it adds up. Plus, developers are already saying that not every game is going to be in full 4k.doesn't psy still use a 720p tv? i'd imagine plenty of people are in the same boat, or 1080p. i doubt the 4k market is as big as ms thinks it is
Spencer talking about the Elite controller and equating that at $150 to a premium customer who is ready to drop $500 on a console they already own seems way, way off to me too. And if that's where their heads are currently at then this image I threw together last night is more on the nose than I was intending to imply.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostWhat stream are you guys watching?Fire Emblem is on Nintendo's Treehouse, God Of War on Keighley's YouTube thing.

The sales are growing year over year. But it's still only a small portion of the overall TVs sales in the US.
Average TV size is well under 50" too. Sony likely know this very, very well from their TV business and might explain why they released the Pro with the checkerboard rendering in mind.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostWhat stream are you guys watching?Treehouse, they are showing Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
It looks ok.
Although the combat is a poor man's Final Fantasy XII.
what did nintendo show off? saw metroid prime 4 and mario odyssey. missed the showing and dont really feel like going back and watching
Ubisoft does lighting for Mario better than Nintendo
Odyssey's trailer looked great. Then the demo showed and it didn't look as great.

This is worse than every Nomura design combined. Cindy looks like The Boss compared to this. These characters look Star Ocean tier.

the city parts maybe not so much.
By livefromkyoto Go To Post#AllPixelsMatterSome pixels matter more than others
The "realistic" city and humans in Odyssey would benefit from a more cartoonish style. It would suit the overall aesthetic of the game far better as well.
Probably too late to do anything about that now, but it isn't like it's really a huge issue either.

After ARMS inevitably flops, they need to send their character designer over to Monolith and say 'fix their shit'
I'll say this, it's super rare to get an rpg this good in a console's first year. It basically never happens.

Shonen designs don't do it for me so it's not turning my crank, but nothing they've shown looks shit.

I like it though.
and at least I can see shit after the pixelated mess that is Xenoblade Chronicles 3D

Lol
Always having the worst interviews out there.
What do people really expect them to say? "No, we're not letting you prop up your second-tier network with our user base." Gamers can't handle the truth.
By GQman2121 Go To PostNi No Kuni being played on Sony's stage right now.The first game was for me
Not for me, but it looks nice.
the second one took out the monster training for whatever dumbass reason
Xenoblade 2 looks soo much better than that trash that was XCX
Also: Thank God Metroid is back from the dead. Although I am not sure I am gonna care much for the Metroid 2 remake by the people that made that bad 3ds Castlevania
I am cool with it. The last one just wasn't very good and I would much rather them make more Donkey Kong

By livefromkyoto Go To PostThat might not be the worst thing. Their Prime games are kinda dull in this day & age tbh. #SpeakingTruthToPower

Has newer Assassin's Creed had skill trees? Here's Origins...
Lead dev is talking about XP and leveling and all this. Is that what people wanted - halfassed RPG elements crammed in? How about drone eagle and Batman vision through walls? The combat and stealth also still look shit.
The water and animal interactions look impressive, but that's the only interesting bit I've seen since they unveiled this.

EG: Well, you must see that PlayStation owners are upset. They want to play with Switch owners, PC owners and Xbox One owners for these two big and important games, and they don't have an explanation for why. That's what I'm getting at, really.
Jim Ryan: Yeah. We've got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base. Minecraft - the demographic playing that, you know as well as I do, it's all ages but it's also very young. We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation curated universe. Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it's something we have to think about very carefully.
EG: It doesn't seem to be a problem for Nintendo, perhaps the most mindful video game company of the protection of children.
Jim Ryan: Yeah, that's true. Everybody has to take their own decisions. We'll do that. Like I say, we have no philosophical stance against cross-play at all.
Think of the children LOL
