a) who
b) how are we signing anyone with nee boss?
Very similar player to Rafael. Super aggressive fullback. Very direct and quick.
He was someone the club scouted iirc, signed under Moyes but he never played him. Has had a couple of games.
By Ciaran Go To PostYou'll forget he ever existed once you get Alex Sandro Del Piero. Most of our defensive mistakes ... so like three in the whole season? :P
Zabo give credit where its due, ive always blamed Sandro for most of our defensive mistakes, no? Maybe Allegri is on to something here. The dude switches off a lot and in crucial moments
But we then forget all about after he dribbles half of the stadium and drills in a pinpoint cross
Nah, let's face it. Sandro leaving would suck major arsch, but as always it's not who's leaving that's the problem, it's who we're replacing him / them with. So far we've done an admirable job and I'm confident those 70M€ will be put to good use once again. I think we've slowly but surely come to the realization that in Europe having the best defense doesn't carry you as far as having a top attacking midfield / attack does.
We'll be fine. As long as our fans realize we've got at least 5-7 clubs in front of us as far as buying power is concerned and the huge disadvantage of playing in a moribund league. Competence can only take you so far & miracles are rare.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostUnited fans are going to love Fabinho. The guy does so much more than just stay back and shield the back line. Needs to improve his passing a tad though, not quite prime Carrick in that area.I love him already.

worry for Shanks, he's hitting the expensive bottles again, he has awakened his Irish side from slumber.
70 million is a lot money for a position that doesn't require someone world class, buy a midfielder with that, attacking or otherwise and I'll be happy.
Guys, does anyone have any experience with "rescheduled" flights?
The particular flight is sitting like that on their website but Qatar haven't made any discernible changes

I've seen you mention it too many times, especially in instances when no one was previously criticizing it, to accept that line of argument. I'm not, however, singling you out for the manner of your delivery, because it's no worse than, say, Yurt will be with Miyazaki's next project or FF with whatever Dragon Ball nonsense is being shat into the market; rather, it comes more from a place of disgust on my part at the trajectory of the Star Citizen funding drive, which is Kickstarter grown cancerously obscene, microtransactions of unlimited glut and limitless cost, and funders qua advertising legionnaires projectile vomiting the virtues of their phantasmagoric expectations..
It is pretty crazy how entrenched both sides are regarding Star Citizen
Either everything suggests that it's a con, or there's nothing to worry about. I lean much further towards the former in terms of the end product, if not the intention. There have been far too many delays and bumps on the road to believe that there's nothing to worry about. Frankly some people sound deluded by their desire for the game to succeed, while others are obviously desperate for it to fail for the lols.
Cuntish as it is, I'm kinda with them because we're at a point where it'll be much more interesting if it fails than it will if it succeeds. And if you can spend hundreds/thousands on digital spaceships, you ain't gonna get much sympathy if you genuinely get no return on that investment.

With Star Citizen, I just don't think there is anything malicious about their incompetence. I know you can stretch the definition of the word "scam" to suit many purposes, but I really do believe they are putting all that money into the game instead of living lavish, stress free lives in some Caribbean island. The problem is the feature creep, realities of game development and mismanagement.
I actually think the citizen con demos have taken away valuable time and resources from the meat of the game, just to put a temporary show and that's hurting the slow cycle even more. They were always going to fall short of Robert's vision, but with better management, it could've been something good. I also don't think the development time has reached a point where you can say "it's beyond unreasonable now" for a game of its size. In fact, its only now actually reaching average AAA dev time. The money tho, that could be the thing that has been stretched thin, and creating studios from scratch, hiring high profile actors, the yearly gatherings, mocap, etc. THAT is something that you can say might have been unreasonable at the point the game is in.
But I'm with you. With no investment into it, either outcome will prove amusing.

Christ, that was 4 years ago now. Don't think I even reinstalled the Star CItizen Hangar thingy when I had to wipe my drive.
In hindsight, even if it turned out to be a great game, I'd never have put any significant time into the multiplayer stuff anyway, got taken in by the scope really. Lessons learned. Don't crowdfund, Chris Roberts is a monorail salesman, Zabo is a whale.
Even with all the hookers you can get and all the cocaine igloos you can construct - 150 million is well above and beyond your typical AAA production dollars

Horizon Zero Dawn cost 50 million
NMS was an indie early access tier project that should've sold for $15, but managed to fool fanboys with (transparent) smoke and mirrors to be sold at full price. Which mostly had to do with it being featured in a Sony press conference.
Star Citizen is what Hitch describes, the problem is that it is a project that is barely in "tech demo" stage, not even ready for early access. The scope and contents are a million times bigger than NMS, it's just also broken into a million different bits that the developer hasn't quite managed to figure out how to put together to make a competent product.

Though in any case trying to compare production costs for games is absurd, these arent like movies where each production is entirely self contained. Its like saying that some new drug is way overpriced at 5billion because you can buy an aspirin for a quid
FWIW I don't think it's a scam, so let's not annoy Zabo with our uninformed BS pls <3
crowdfunding needs more control, I think (I don't know how it actually works or what they can get away with) but If I was a developer and I had an unregulated 150 million in my bank account, I'd fucking disappear into the mist. Fuck you and your games, if you're a whale go make it yourself. It's just too tempting to let it all collapse, morals be damned.

Not sure how many of the studios working on it are just outsourced though, as opposed to ones built from the ground up.They went and hired out something like 400 people at 60k per year for 4-5years. Mocap went after A-list actors like Gary Oldman, that is irresponsible spending of Kickstarter money.

Say what you will about NMS, even if it didn't fulfil all its vision - it benefited from having proper supervision and made it out the door (no matter how you feel about it, it is a shipped product). Sure, SC may have more depth and vision - but until it makes it out the door - its basically 150 million dollar vapourware.

I just don't see any evidence to suggest that the people at the top of the project have a clue how to put it all together in anything like an efficient way, for the development or for the end user. It sounds like a game that will be released in an episodic format, only with each episode comprising a completely different game, and no reliable pipeline for when they will be properly released as opposed to alpha stages. Space combat one year, single player campaign the next, MMO 3 years later or whatever.

I am just pointing out the poor management at the basic level, let's not forget their original target was 6 million - they got 150 and still dont appear to be close to shipping a finished product.
I said 'typical AAA production' GTA is far from your typical AAA production. GTAV, in particular, is a statistical anomaly. Their dev costs could have been 1 billion and they would still be guaranteed a sizeable ROI as the game is still in top 10 charts 4-5 years after original release on last-gen consoles.
The Gary Oldman thing didn't sit right with me. I feel like in games there is absolutely no need to break the bank for A-list actors, voice or otherwise. To do that when you were spending money your audience had already given you, and when nobody was asking for it just makes it stranger.
Then again, maybe they thought they had millions left over, and they were trying to spend as much as they could on the game. It wouldn't be a good look to get 150m in funding, and release a product that could have been made for 20m or whatever. Even though they didn't ask for anything like the 150m in the first place. In hindsight a cap would probably have been a good idea, with any further purchases being made after release. Getting to 150m put them under ridiculous pressure to make a game of unparalleled scope and quality. That was always likely to go wrong in the hands of a fledgling studio, and an overseer who hadn't made a decent game since the early 90s ¬¬
