Breh you eat tons of crawfish but haven't tried oysters?
I personally like em on the half shell with lemon and a little horse radish.

I mean raw oysters. I'm struggling to understand how they have any taste if you just swallow them.

By Smokey Go To PostAnybody tried oystersYup.
Throw on the bbq pit until you see a sliver of a crack to know its done.
Crack it open with a flathead screw driver and make sure you dont spill any of the juices.
Put some hot sauce and lime but i prefer calimansi fruit instead.
Win.

The taste is in the water they're harvested from. Salt, fresh, mixed - it's a vary regional seafood. There are a bunch of different species that come in all types of shapes and sizes.

I've...never heard about the taste coming from the water. That's different. I've been wanting to try it for longest time, but not being able to taste the oyster seems so weird.

I don't eat oysters as much as I would like, unfortunately. They are pretty good but expensive. :(
By Francis Go To PostCooked oysters are great, raw merely edible.
Insanity.
By Smokey Go To PostI've…never heard about the taste coming from the water. That's different. I've been wanting to try it for longest time, but not being able to taste the oyster seems so weird. The water or "liquor" that the meat sits in is half the flavor. The meat definitely had a taste on it's own though. It falls somewhere in between boiled unseasoned shrimp, crayfish or crab with the texture of moist sashimi. Jesus, that's a terrible pitch.
Battered or breaded and deep fried is also very good. I'll ingest the damn things any which way. Gulf coast should have some amazing varieties for you to choose from.
By s y Go To PostEat sea testicles but criticize my shit food wow
This might be one of the better promotions for oysters I've ever seen.
I can eat oysters raw or cooked, but not particularly a favourite.
Even if you eat them with out chewing, the taste is on the back of your throat. The same way you can swallow Whisky (or tequila or chatreusse) with out swirling it in your mouth, but the flavour will be there in the back of your throat.

By reilo Go To PostWooden will love this.
Oysters can contain harmful bacteria. Oysters are filter feeders, so will naturally concentrate anything present in the surrounding water. Oysters from the Gulf Coast of the United States, for example, contain high bacterial loads of human pathogens in the warm months, most notably Vibrio vulnificus and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. In these cases, the main danger is for immunocompromised individuals, who are unable to fight off infection and can succumb to septicemia, leading to death. Vibrio vulnificus is the most deadly seafood-borne pathogen.

By Smokey Go To PostI haven't exactly been checking on oysters kibdawg*shrug* I just always heard growing up that if you eat raw oysters, to do so from a place known for their raw oysters. Otherwise, you stand a real risk of food poisoning.
Speaking of seafood, my aunt made me some more shrimp chowder for Ash Wednesday and Lint. This one is a bit more spicy than usual, making it even more delicious. I'm not sure what all is in it, but I know there is shrimp (duh), corn, mushroom, and potato.

Where are our booty eaters at? Apollo, Kidjr, get in here.
Jhene filthy with it
Aww, yeah. The chowder is that perfect level of spiciness where you just barely start sweating but don't really want any water because it tastes so good.
There's something fucked up about the concurrent discussion right now oyster eating and booty eating. Wires crossing.

By Smokey Go To PostWhelpOysters also breed during the summer which can alter their flavor and texture. The rule (it's a snobby rule really) is that you're not supposed to eat them during months without an R. So May - August is their off season. This mostly applies to wild oysters, not farm raised which have been largely breed in a tank before being moved to open shore waters.
