By Laboured Go To PostFeels like Bungie feel compelled to gate this shit in this way simply because they can't generate decent content fast enough? It is impossible to generate content fast enough for hardcore users. They fail at making the content rewarding and easily repeatable.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti can't believe everything is on activision from a content standpoint because certain shit just makes no sense
like i REFUSE to believe activision was "sure, okay" about those pvp playlists being complete shit. is there a chance that they were the reason destiny started 4 v 4? maybe. getting D2 into the competitive scene sounds like a quality goal to have. how it was handled though? at least overwatch had an excuse out the gate…
The biggest negative impact of the Activision relationship is that Acti is publically traded. Therefore, Bungie had to get SOMETHING out every financial quarter, no matter what, so that Acti's shareholders wouldn't have a shitfit. Devving games and publically trading are not compatible with each other. This forced content out before it was done, or holding back DLC a bit when it was done because publically traded companies will stall out on approvals and funding right when a quarter is ending then open it back up afterwards. This is why All of Dark Below had a two month development time.
This has nothing to do with their engine or whatever the fuck, it was just Activision was still treating Destiny like a disc release with planned upgrades while Bungie just wants to make what is really a digital MMO-lite with content updates.
Only good stuff will come from this. Hopefully the PS exclusive shit is ending, as well.

I mean Rise of Iron literally happened because Activision wanted something out to replace D2 getting delayed. RoI. Return on Investment. lol.
You could even tell they branched off the engine to D2 before RoI because D2 launched with pre-RoI bugs that RoI fixed, like the infinite super one, and why D2 largely ignored RoI in the first place.

yeah i remember that much about D2 on release.
that all definitely adds up with what you're saying, but there's still the gameplay elements and just outright painful decisions in there though. maybe with the heat off they can not? make everything such a chore to do. i understand asking for pvp to get any sort of resurrecting must be impossible at this point. when trials stayed gone i just took that as the official 'fuck it' with regard to balancing anything past a certain line

i don't know how they can get enough content + support a PC version to the standard it is now without high moon and vicarious visions.
I mean I think it can get better but shit like this to me is 100% on them.

Yeah, repeat protection should have been in for nightfalls. They're looking at getting it in now, at least. sometimes it's funny how much their internal RNG even rahools on them lol
Either they have VV port it again (but as a more explicitly contracted dev) or VV did all the grunt work of getting the engine over to PC in the first place and Bungie will just take it from here on updating for PC compatibility. A lot easier once the core engine has been brought over.
I have no idea what's gonna happen with their relationship with VV and High Moon. They've done pretty good work, and those people like working on Destiny. It's theoretically possible to keep them on just as contracted devs.

Contrary to the prevailing narrative in these parts there are people outside Bungie who are massively passionate about he destiny franchise, VV and HM are such people and their work shows it.
No one ever doubts the passion
It's management, communication, and just ridiculous priorities more than anything else.
It's management, communication, and just ridiculous priorities more than anything else.
D2 is a lost cause. It’s impossible to bring new people in and it seems like there are not enough left to sustain the game.
It’s either D3, a reboot or no more Destiny at all.
Facts or ?
All of which are easier to manage under realistic deadlines. Shipping a full quality game every 12 is not sustainable It how well you're managed, you'll at best be in persistent crunch.
I think the annualisation of the product that players expect so much from with the prices being charged became untenable with changing gaming landscape. Like Saint punchy the awesome Titan said, it's not a boxed game world anymore.
Looking forward to today's TWAB

Destiny is basically street fighter now. As shit as it is, people can't ignore it and will continue to believe
Edit
Breh cmon it's not like Activision was responsible for stuff like vault space 😂 there's plenty of stuff that bungie should be better at by now. Any time at all listening to the crucible lead clearly explains how lost, tone deaf, and up their own asses on certain things.
Its not all on Activision, every dev makes questionable decisions.
Vault space, forever 29, no fast travel in D1, no playlist choices in PvP, no difficulty choices for story modes. I could go and on about Bungie's fuck ups.
What I'm saying is that in the grander scope of things, with tight deadlines to hit, things like vault space fall to the back of priorities in order to meet the production pipelines for the next release.

That's handing out the biggest of free passes man
I'm definitely open to the idea that things such as private matches being missing for years was a problem. The idea of raid lairs. Eververse aka Satan's Bazaar. There's plenty that can be attributed to that.
Stuff like armor being completely one dimensional, these quest lines that make gameplay insufferable fir everyone, only addressing the people on message boards (there is no in-game update info - it's 2019 and they want to be an mmo until it means they have to do mmo things...), Etc

From the beta til now I've played. I know the darkness better than most lol...
I'm just saying this isn't all Activision. I want to believe that a shakeup will provide a nice boost in morale and flexibility overall regarding the structure of things, but I'm not ready to plan a parade just yet. As bad as the reception for some dlc was, it was the time in between big releases that bothered me the most along with the complete disregard of constant, vocalized concerns.

They know now it's all on them. For the record.
Also re: private matches, honestly the easy explanation for that was
1) basically none of the MP game engine stuff came over from Halo
2) custom games were actually a tiny minority of users in every Halo, and were often one of the last features implemented in all their Halo titles. Remember Halo 3 didn't even have customs in a finished state for the beta after people busted into them.

What sour luck, Destiny's Social Media planner at Activision got her dream job then loses it two months later from the Acti/Bungie split.

Any chance bungie takes her on?
I think my thoughts on black armory are that it was solid given that it probably resulted in only ending up being like 12 dollars when you slice up the annual pass by a third, but the grindddddd. It's honestly such a toxic as fuck grind. I really enjoy the game but I desperately need to break away from it based off this shit. Classes starting up for me Monday will help a lot.

Wish I was surprised about Shattered Throne not being kept around but like I said, I don't think Activision has to do with content on rotation. Someone at the top in Bungie is seriously fucking up.

yea that's TLW back to true form--sticky as fuckkkkkk hip fire aim and it looks like it can three tap. Shotguns are in trouble.
Thorn on the comeback?
Destiny 2 doesn't mess around. RIP anthem.

been playing with it with a pulse rifle--it's good, but so are shotguns. There's a lot of ways to play now.
Personally I roll with TLW and a moving target/kill clip/targeting adjuster pulse on a 10 mobility hunter. Hard to lock me down. Dumb easy to put down rushing shotgun users with TLW--body shot kill is like .8, nevermind with crits. There's times in the close mid range area where the gun seems to not want to hit the target, and others when it erases them. Gotta learn how to use it again.

Would you say it's an actual counter to shotguns now? Because as much as I love Jotunn, dust rocks have a faster rate of fire and can snipe from across the map

PC footage, but the same principles apply on console. You won't be getting as many consistent range taps as his footage but the moving backwards while taking out a shotgun push will be the same.
Movement is important. If you don't have good movement, you're going to get out positioned by a shotgunner. But if you have good movement and awareness its a great shotgun counter.
that's some really high tier work---bungie should hire him, not sure they can pay more than youtube though
got a we ran out of medals with a really interesting combo today....lucky pants + last word + lunas howl. I can't say how much I noticed any one particular trait of the exotic, but +1 round to the chamber on precision hits, instant ready + increased accuracy on swap were making sure the combo was maximized
its a damn shame they don't auto reload holstered hand cannons--that would have made everything unbelievable

You, sir, are everything thats wrong with the crucible...
lol, I kid, playing Anthem made gave me better appreciation for Destiny's tight moment-to-moment gunplay. But I have to give Anthem props for enemy/wildlife diversity and interaction - Bungie's shooter needs more dynamic environment, weather and day-night cycles to make the worlds feel alive

Destiny's biomes always felt off. I think it's the bad enemy animation -- and bad animation in general.
Nessus comes close to feeling alien in a cool way.
But the EDZ feels so lifeless,
Titan is cool but small, the futuristic interiors are dope but wasted and unused.
Mercury should be deleted and Io is just weird
Don't know how I feel about Mars, I didnt like it in D1, but it's tolerable here since it brought in ice hive.
