99% of the time that goes the other way. If you're in the room with that tether or a suppression grenade your super is immediately snuffed and you're standing there looking like an idiot. A lot of people have really caught on to how play against nova warp, it happens to me a lot now. I have to be way more careful with it.

Without having seen it, if that person was warping around that many tether shots that sounds a legit good play, and they probably had to burn the majority of their super bar to get you (those teleports cost a chunk of bar). Stormtrance has had the same thing since Taken King.

If that tether hits the ground in your vicinity you can't avoid it. You have to be really quick about warping out of its radius as it's being shot. That said yes, it sucks, it's effectively a PvE super.

Can't avoid it? Are you serious? It doesn't even kill on direct impact most of the time and it has a two second delay to activate tether. Plus you can literally destroy the super by shooting at it. If you get tethered by a Shadowshot that you can see, then that's on you. But that shit doesn't even do what it's supposed to on impact, and that's if the Hunter manages to execute it before either a) getting killed in the air because Hunters don't receive nice things like overshield or health-regen while in Super or b) the animation throwing the character so wayward that it never lands where you want or c) it getting caught on a tree branch which means it's only useful in wide open spaces or d) the other player being able to dodge it by just... strafing to the side because it's the most telegraphed super in the game.

We had this discussion. Nightstalker minus the super is and was a very good class in pvp. Smoke nade, invisi jukes, better radar. It's literally the biggest contradiction to "supers matter." It's utilized because you can rack up way more kills with that neutral game going for you than any super chains, especially with heavy and special ammo so readily available.

Specifically talking about floating past it in nova warp. The thing about nova warp is you get shot up if you sit there charging it in front of people (you can get killed out of it by shotgun + melee or just team shooting), but if you charge it and then move around that corner you move at a crawl, which gives people time to do whatever they want if they're not in range right away.

It's also easy to warp into the middle of a crowd because you're greedy for that multi-kill medal, but the hunter behind you jumps out of range and supers you outside of your vision. Or they just hear it coming from around a corner and pre-shoot.

It is powerful, and it's one of those things that seems invincible when you're up against it, but when you're using it you experience the weaknesses up front.

im pretty sure the tether can't even track a warplock if both players are using anything less that fiberoptic super internet lol

Never seen so much discussion about tethers especially since some supers can just kill the ball with their left over aoe shit.

I mean I can't honestly say I have tons of experience with it because it's far and away the least common hunter super in Crucible. I can just tell you what's happened to me.

Any projectile super will do. I've definitely been golden gunned out of it. Definitely been shadow shot.

With other classes? Titan smashes can straight up tank it. Hammers will get you. 1 on 1 stormtrance will usually beat it. If you're running landfall the startup animation will just shrug the warp blast off. Chaos reach will insta-snuff you.

This is my every day. If I head for a crowd everybody scatters. I can't chase them all if I don't get them with that first blast, I have to pick a direction. The other guy gets lucky and has time to counter. Aside from that, if they see me coming from far enough away? That golden gun's not missing a slow floating purple target. But most of the time it's blade barrage.

We got to this point because of people complaining things don't work.

Shadow Shot doesn't work for shit, it has glaring problems that aren't looking to be fixed. Let's go through the tired ol' list of it's shortcomings

- Ball is weak and easily removed, hell it can be aoe'd by the leftovers of a fist of havoc
- Tethers can't handle verticality or angles very well
- Tethers aren't instant
- Forced jump means you can easily shoot off your original mark especially if you're being shot at while it's happening
- Forced jump is basically "HERE I AM PAPER MACHE" so you can die either before or during the super
- Forced jump is shit in a lot of spaces because of the geometry, many areas feature low ceilings or outcroppings
- Any little bit of dust or invisible pixels can catch the ball you were trying to aim

It's been this way since launch with no signs of genuine improvement.

Why does it shoot out of my face
Why is it the only super with a "shoot the core" mechanism
Why can't we get the artifact that gives us double grenades/melee again instead of forcing that crap super on us 🤔

As someone still new to the game, these philosophical differences fascinate the hell out of me. Cause to my terrible ass(I don't have Forsaken yet):

-Slide into shotgun is better than any super.

-I should go back to Blink plus whatever the second Warlock class is, instead of playing myself using The Raiden one.

-Did I mention shotguns being great? They are.

This Fighting Lion exotic that I just got feels kinda terrible, in PvE.

These debates give me life tbh. The "all supers matter" stuff is hilarious to me considering the history of what happens to legitimately dominant supers. Man, they released the game with a day zero arc hunter patch because the speed of it was guaranteed to make kids cry. Some stuff just... On paper they may seem legit. They might even work great in ideal circumstances. But the practicalities of stuff will/should change a lot. Like, people fail to mention that flinch throws golden gun and shadowshot off 😂 I honestly can't main Titan because lag hurts that class sooooo much if you can't nail down timing appropriately.

It's also funny you mention shotguns too man. Try and imagine a PVP world where shotguns shot faster, further, maintained accuracy from the air, and the damage fall off was so weak that you could kill people with headshots at fusion rifle range. They're STILL the constant lynchpin of all PVP in the game too.

I'm still mad they brought shotguns back like that due to the PTSD from shotties in D1. It's nowhere near as bad as it was in D1, but there was a reason they changed the entire gameplay mechanic away from it that made shotgun kills supremely rare in late-life D1.

In Gambit when the opposing foe comes over to your side they have overshield and they can see where everyone is. Most folks also come over with a super charged up to really up the ante. Least Sleeper finally got a nerf tho.
