I dunno. I think you might be overselling it. If it’s in your kinetic slot, think of all the things you don’t have access to - Luna’s, AoS, Bygones - basically 80% of the meta, things that you’re going to be using a lot more over the course of a match. I’d be surprised if the tryhards suddenly dropped all that stuff for this. There's plenty in secondary worth using too this is a weird argument. Pulses and shotties and snipes. Plus people good at Grenade Launcher can clear out people and just sit on heavy, and they can have multiple grenade launchers in the different weapon slots too.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostIf you’ve got a Luna’s or Not Forgotten, you’re already good by default. Some people are good and still not gonna bother with that grind.

Pulse Rifles are trash top to bottom with exceptions like Graviton and VW. Why? Because you can't strafe it out with people. Even with Destiny's BabbysFirstShooter aim assist, because of the recoil and stability issues you're not going to be able to reliably hit crits while strafing against someone who is strafing as well. There's too much spray and correction going on. The bullet efficiency just isn't there. Can you get kills and have fun with a pulse? Sure. Can it be oppressive in the right hands? Absolutely. But it doesn't remove the flaws of the entire weapon class.
A kill clip/outlaw bygones is in no way substantially different than any other conditionally damage buffed weapon. (Also, those conditional weapons aren't that much of game changer between two high skilled players/teams because the death rates in those types of games aren't anywhere close to typical quickplay curbstompings). High cal rounds are nice, but they were a lot nicer when the game had a higher TTK... I've got mixed opinions on flinch anyways but that's a whoooooole other story.
Also, with random rolls there's no longer concerns about forcing the half a dozen decent weapons into half a dozen decent kits. You can throw anything around the feature weapons/armor of your setup and be more than capable.
Things that allow players to approach common situations in new or otherwise dynamic ways? That's the stuff you need to be prepared for ahead of time.

Even Graviton can be too slow, it's best at range and utilizing very particular spots. I honestly just get tired of OHK metaverse since there's no real counter and it's tedious. Firefights just amount to who sat on heavy and if that's not even part of the equation because they can pick up special or kinetic instead it's like ugh. Least with shotties they gotta get in close, snipes they gotta get a headshot.
the counter has always been ignore line of sight and stacking health to put you outside of OHK range from neutral
its wild how bungie goes back and adds shit that they swear the were opposed to. they hated horseshoes on rockets because it turned heavy weapons into indirect fire then they bring the perk back.
probably not a stretch to see them reintroduce that max armor+1 bullshit warlock helm too....

It's made even more tedious on their map and movement choices too. You can't avoid shit by getting more vertical you just make yourself more vulnerable especially with the delay on shooting from the air. Where there is verticality it's just a tight ass space to get grenaded too.
The Luna grind, lads
its killing me, I've done all the steps, but getting to Fabled is a joke.

It’s not weird because shotguns & snipers are pretty much out of the equation, since you won’t have enough special ammo to go around. There are only a handful of meta weapons left after that, and they’re not necessarily going to compliment your loadout and/or playstyle. None of these hypothetical grenade launcher apes are likely to have much use for a Graviton.
By Kibner Go To PostNot necessarily. You need to be seriously good to get the Not Forgotten unless you’ve been carried, in which case you’re not really going to figure into this conversation either way.

The graph at the bottom shows me taking a nosedive doing the competitive part of the Broadsword quest, then the AoS quest, because I am absolutely that shit with hand cannons:

The spike after that dip is me getting Jade Rabbit & ascending to scout rifle valhalla. I love it so much, it flinches the hell out of everybody’s stupid squeaky Gravitons.
I heard scouts were borked in Forsaken so I put them away. Otherwise, polaris was doing work.
But you're right, I am currently whinning about comp and finding regulars, but in truth, my real enemy is time. I work long hours and my commute is hell and I am studying, so I have to treaty destiny time like a treat.

By Bold 2 in One Go To PostI heard scouts were borked in Forsaken so I put them away. Otherwise, polaris was doing work.Scouts weren’t so great, but the last patch bumped their damage up 15%. I’m not going to tell you they’re dominant now or anything, almost nobody is using them. But they fit my play style - the best way to deal with shotgun rushers is not to be on the same half of the map as them, and scouts are a lot easier to hit with than snipers. For the way I play personally this has been the best weapon I’ve used so far in PvP, I like the extra range & impact over the MIDA, even though that has more benefits overall. Polaris I couldn’t do anything with. Maybe I’ll like it better if I finish off the catalyst.

Yesterday was the first time I felt like a Threat in the Crucible. Got a new handcannon that felt nice, actually had a few two-taps for the first time. Just did research and apparently it's old but still one of the better handcannons in the game?

From what I’ve used probably the best non-quest legendary HC in the game (shout out to the Duke tho). The best is it’s part of Shax’s loot pool, so if you keep doing Crucible bounties you’ll get a ton of them, and you’re guaranteed a god roll sooner than later. Kill clip, outlaw, rangefinder, etc.
that luna TTK might actually eclipse stuff I was seeing in year 1 destiny hand cannons sans for close range last word
im not grinding for it because destiny pvp isnt worth taking seriously, but damn

Trying to get my own account up to year one max has been hilarious. No idea why they decided infusion costs should be that outrageous.
By DY_nasty Go To PostThe account that I've been borrowing belonged to a friend who was no lifing it hard since day one.If you have Forsaken there’s a vendor you can buy mats & cores from every day, in an evening of playing I can usually come up with enough to infuse 2-3 items. It’s got to be done through PvE though, crucible drops are all but worthless past 520 or so.

It slows progress, but I’m at 548 now, so it means that for someone like me who plays regularly but doesn’t live on it, progression will likely last 2-3 months, enough to keep someone going until the next expansion & cap bump hits.
I know nobody’s thrilled with it. But the alternative is to slow progress through lower drops, which would frustrate people more.
I dunno, I think an alternative is to keep masterwork cores for actual masterworks tbh
If the goal was to put a higher emphasis on new gear while making older stuff a bigger commitment to keep, planetary mats does that. Kinda jacked up to have the only vendor for a material required by literally all equipment be in dlc only.
Just strange considering all they've done to pull eververse out of the gutter. Can't believe Bright Dust is easier to acquire lol

It’s obviously not a perfect system because it feels like an artificial constraint. Bungie have been pretty good at not making all that stuff so surface level in the past. I never thought I’d actually miss exotic shards, because at least they made some kind of space-magic sense.
And you’re right, some of the things they’ve done to incentivize people getting Forsaken are pretty lousy. One of the guys I play with regularly is still just on Warmind because he’s got a wife & small kid and finances are in a tight spot right now. With the level bump to Escalation Protocol he gets wiped in 2 seconds, he can’t even play the content he paid for anymore. Which sucks, because he only knew it was a serious thing once I told him about the weapons it drops.

I'm swinging from Chapelle Rick James when I get on a killstreak for a few minutes to getting kicked into a mirror the rest of the round. If Gambit came back I might play that for 8 hours straight, it's the only thing I know I can do well in.
Bungie is trying to get me to quit playing with this fuckshit godawful matchmaking.
Also hilarious that a direct hit by Golden Gun against any Titan or Warlock super results in... nothing. It does fucking nothing. I remember when Golden Gun guaranteed a kill on any hit but nah not anymore.

It’s arguably the best super in the game, get that instead.

Because I didn't get Blade Barrage and unlocking the next subclass is a chore.
And because thay's not the fucking point when every other Hunter super is gimped.

By reilo Go To PostBecause I didn't get Blade Barrage and unlocking the next subclass is a chore.Because every other hunter ability gives really good passive advantages (like, do you realize how good just being able to break aim assist is?), there has to be something to balance out the classes. There’s a reason 60% of the crucible plays hunter. Spend some time in blind well, unlock way of a thousand cuts, and suddenly you’ll have a super that can snuff anything else on reflex + infinite knives. Hunters are not hard done by at all.

"Break aim assist" 😂
Yea totally great as you're getting killed halfway into executing your shadowshoy because you are exposed, and even if it executes it'll get caught on a tree branch.
Play as a Hunter, please, then come talk about how great breaking aim assist is when you can just walk around the super like it wasn't there.

I'm not using Nightstalker, I haven't in a long time. I'm using Golden Gun which is what I was referring to.

Also neither Blade Barrage nor Whirlwind Guard existed until Forsaken so going on about Blade Barrage is recency bias
By reilo Go To Post"Break aim assist" 😂Why are you still using that PvE super in crucible when that same class has a roaming super that you can use while invisible? And why use it in open ground instead of when they’re grouped taking cover around a doorway or around a corner?

Also, I’m talking about breaking aim assist but I just discovered blink does that super well. I never even messed around with it until yesterday because they nerfed it back in Taken King and I assumed it was still useless. But it’s the only thing that escapes captain america, and if I’m in a bad spot or someone gets the first shot in on me I can get into cover instantly by blinking sideways. It just really sucks for jumping to stuff.
The trade off of proper neutral and practical vertical movement.
If it ain't letting you get better then put up walls or charge abilities for a while.
It's also funny seeing people try to dodge incorrectly. Run in straight line, dodge, continue running, die. It's never not funny tbh

I don’t usually complain about the maps, but the spawn locations on Gambler’s Ruin are just baffling. One of them is this murder box with one exit that people know how to farm, the two times I spawned there I got insta-Colony’d and Golden Gunned. Last match I played there was the same thing. Others drop you into clear sight lines, I think I was spawn killed 4 times that match.
I got Starfire Protocol out of that match though so it was worth it lol.

Very next match, same map. I spawned into an Ace of Spades, sniper, shotgun rusher and rocket launcher. And not the “I came around the first corner and then died” kind, like dead within 2 seconds where I stood. Yeah, this is the worst Destiny map ever. Two guys on my team quit as soon as the match started. Time take this one out of the rotation for some retooling, Bungie.
